Blood type influences how you react to the virus.....I wonder if the percent of Neanderthal genes you carry also has an effect.

The cigarette smoke was mixed with his breath- the smoke did not come from the lit cigarette, it was a huge exhale, meaning a carbon dioxide, breath and smoke mixture. I caught it in my face as I put on a burst of speed and passed him with my bike.

A columnist in the NY Post (strongly) suggests that we end the lockdown now. I don't completely agree with him, but I do think states and cities need to move further and faster towards reopening the economy and returning to normal life. I think the same goes for Montreal and the rest of Canada.

End New York City’s lockdown now!
By David Marcus
May 20, 2020 | 6:59pm |

Sometimes, a good rant is all a writer can offer. Bear with me.

Last Friday morning, some 3,500 New Yorkers lined up at a Catholic church in Queens to receive free food hours before it even opened, according to the New York Police Department. Catholic Charities has reported a 200 percent increase in demand over the past month and a half.

By prolonging the coronavirus shutdown long after its core mission was accomplished, Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio have plunged tens of thousands of New Yorkers into poverty.

It needs to end. Now.

In mid-March, we were told we have to endure a lockdown to ensure that hospitals didn’t get overrun. We did. The hospitals were not overwhelmed. We turned the Javits Center into a hospital. We didn’t need it. We brought in a giant Navy ship to treat New Yorkers. We didn’t need it.

We were told we were moments away from running out of ventilators. We weren’t, and now the United States has built so many, we are giving them away to other countries.

Meanwhile, the Big Apple is dying. Its streets are empty. The bars and jazz clubs, restaurants and coffeehouses sit barren. Beloved haunts, storied rooms, perfect-slice joints are shuttered, many for good. The sweat equity of countless small-business owners is evaporating. Instead of getting people back to work providing for their families, our mayor talks about a fantasyland New Deal for the post-coronavirus era.

Open the city. All of it. Right now. Broadway shows, beaches, Yankees games, the schools, the top of the freakin’ Empire State building. Everything. New Yorkers have already learned to socially distance. Businesses can adjust. The elderly and infirm can continue to be isolated...

Is it better to wear a mask if you have seasonal allergies with running nose and sneezing?

Haha Nounours yes I guess so...

I have this dilemma as this time of the year I have pollen allergies. I sometime can sneeze 10 times in a row. Imagine if it happens at the grocery store... In the US someone would shoot me!

The Connecticut Casinos are reopening June 1, despite dire concerns by the State of Connecticut and the Governor stating that he will publicly discourage citizens to refrain from going to the Casinos. In case you are wondering why Governor Lamont can't order them to remain shut down, he can't. He has no jurisdiction to do so as they are both considered sovereign nations within the State of Connecticut. They are on the lands of federally recognized Native Americans and as such are tribal nations. More on this developing controversy here:

That is, Jalimon, assuming they would let you enter into the grocery store in the first place, perhaps a sniper would be watching at the entrance door hehe.

I see people walking alone down an empty street wearing a mask, and i doubt they fall into the vulnerable category. People are paranoid!

Looks can be deceiving. Perhaps that was a guy on his way to see an escort using a mask to be in disguise.

... it should also be mentioned that the New York Post is essentially an arm of the Trump admin.

You mean like all the rest of the mainstream media are just mouthpieces for the Democratic party?

Every major media is so polarized in the US it's crazy.

My media of choice is Al Jazeera or the bbc.

Still there is a major difference between CNN and Fox. CNN does aim to provide journalism. Fox does not even try.

the editorial board of the ny times, one of trump's favourite targets, has called on may 1 for an investigation of tara reade's allegations against joe biden. something which trump himself has shied from so far to my knowledge

in the parallel universe the trump fan clubs lives in, when anybody dares to critique trump or points out his failings it automatically means that theyre siding with the democrats

trump's handling of the crisis is a debacle for the ages and media outlets that sweep this under the rug because of their conservative editorial stance, arent doing their job. theyre just propaganda like the pravda was for the soviet union

Governor Lamont stunned by the tepid response to reopening in Connecticut:

I will be doing my part to pump some money into the local economy here by attending a meeting at a local restaurant on Sunday. Beer, fried seafood, lobster rolls, hamburgers and hot dogs will be served.

On Trump's handling of the current public health crisis, 41% of voters who responded to the survey approve it, and 56% disapprove of it, down from 46% approval versus 51% disapproval recorded in April.

I don't understand that another 41% of Americans approve of Trump's handling of the crisis.

I think it's pretty easy to understand. The people who want the economy and their lives back are approving of Trump efforts to promote reopening. There are many small business owners suffering terribly loan or no loan, and their concerns should not be summarily dismissed. They are facing bankruptcy in many cases and they will not be getting bailed out the same way as airlines are.
