Those getting the jab are not the ones who are most responsible for spreading the virus.
80% of the US population is still not vaccinated and that`s 5th in the world per capita.
Those 80% who are young and mobile and now not required to wear masks and allowed to jam pack bars and restaurants are the ones Fauci is talking about. A spike in cases is coming and if you don`t believe that then your head is in the sand like most of the governors removing the mask mandate.

I agree with most of what your saying. None of what I said was about your quoted statistics, it was about Dr. Fauci. My point wasn't to deny the numbers but to cast my vote on changing the messenger. Fauci is over exposed and is getting way to much airtime. I think it's time to let someone else be the face of this. He's certainly qualified for the job, but I think Americans just need another messenger, a fresh face, a change.

All of this is true however the young and the mobile have less chance of having symptoms and are more likely to shrug it off and not go get tested as the symptoms may be no more than a cold, so it may just even out seeing as the more vulnerable and the ones that end up in hospitals are getting vaccinated.

Not sure Faucis craving attention like people are making it out to be. He hasn’t seen his kids, there are death threats against them and against his wife. He is just telling people what they don’t want to hear and people are getting pissed. Sorry, but if you agree to appear on the cover of In Touch magazine and throw out the first pitch at a Nationals game you’re craving a bit of attention. The dude has had more positions than the Kama Sutra. And his messaging about the vaccine has been horrendous. When you say “no you still won’t be able to do X,Y or Z even after you’ve been fully vaccinated” it does not incentivize an already vaccine hesitant public. There are plenty of other Infectious Disease doctors that would be a much better public health official at this point.

NY, one of the more restricted states is opening up restaurants to 50% capacity and other parts of the state they are allowed up to 75% capacity. Gyms have been open the whole time during our surge in the states and we were fortunate enough to not have any curfews or lockdowns. Toilet paper is easy to find and vaccinations are plentiful. Wishing my fellow northern merbites the best during quarantine and hoping the vaccines start rolling out by the thousands.

Found this interesting. I never knew how the social distancing rule of 6 feet came about. it's based on a hunch or hypothesis from the early 1900"s by Carl Flugge. I always thought it was based on more recent data and now the CDC is working on a 3 foot social distance rule to help get our schools up and running again:

The 6-foot social-distancing rule is based on nearly 80-year-old science. Scientists at MIT and Oxford have created a traffic-light system to use instead.

Keeping a firm 6-foot distance from others to stay coronavirus-free is a very 1940s-type of thing to do.

^^^^Dude, that sucks! In NYC after March 19 restaurants and bars go back to 50% capacity and outside of NYC they go up to 75% capacity. They were never fully closed during this winter. In April, NY will begin allowing nightclubs to open with up to 100 patrons depending on capacity.
