Not all the test results are back. Wait a day or two and they will report over 50 just in hospitals

Also surprisingly enough buisness isnt really slowed down for now at the agencies idk about indies

This is interesting! Maybe it is like minutemenX hypothesized and people are trying to see SPs before things get worse . . . anyway, I hope the virus doesn't decimate SP and Agency earnings too much. This whole situation is wrecking havoc on small businesses around the world. Hopefully we can all weather the storm and things will get back to normal in a few months.

That's the thing... How many months will it take? How many months can you survive without a paycheck? Many, including me, may have to open our retirement savings sooner if this drags on too long...

I have been working in healthcare for 20 years. A vaccines is 9-12 months away minimum. Until then we may only "Flatten the Curve" I guess...

This is what I have heard also from inside hospital sources that there will be a significant jump in the next two days.
This is because they were having problems with labs and they were testing 20-30 a day, now they are testing hundreds a day.

For sure, jalimon, it is a really sucky situation :( Hopefully governments will extend some sort of emergency financial help to people so that folks don't have to dip into their retirement as you mentioned.

The following is a less serious concern but it also sucks because, for people from the states like me, I don't know when I will get back to Montreal. I was supposed to come up in a week; that is completely up in the air now. I'm particularly concerned with the border getting closed while I would be in Canada. Seems like drastic measures like that are happening every day now. I was also hoping to come back in May. Will the virus be under control then? No clue. Maybe I can try to come up in the summer? Still not sure. So many unknowns at the moment . . . I love Montreal and it blows not knowing when I will get to come back and see the agencies and girls I love to see.

Think American Airlines, who might be requesting a bailout, is going to criticize the ban on re-entry from Europe? Nope, they are forced to reduce international capacity by 75 percent and say You Are Great President.

I can’t be the only one hearing The Robot from Lost In Space saying Danger, Will Robinson.

your not, and that’s really puzzling.

will the world economy tank, probably.

How bad will it be? Who the fuck knows?

will the airline agencies need a bail out? If it gets worse than what it is now, yea.

how do I feel about this all, it sux but what the fuck are you gonna do? It’s not like this is 2008 where the banking system collapsed and it was greedy man made? I’d rather my $$ go to bail out American Airlines vs a fuckin wall which people were told mexico would be paying for and will do little I think to curb illegal immigration? Not trying to be political and bash DJT just expressing what I feel.

how will I feel when North America and UK blunt the curb and people like yourself a year from now say “see, told you it was all nothing, just like Zika and swine flu!” ....pretty relieved

CNN.....just heard from FAREED and his guest Dr. Frieden.......with the exponential growth of the virus US could have more than a million of deaths......nice way to start a Sunday......

Oh they love that. Hopefully this will come to pass so some reporter can win a Pulitzer for their in your face reporting style. I'm waiting for Kent Brockman to do some on-the-spot reporting.

As far as the bailout, I think that this is justified more for the airlines and cruise-lines that the government shut down. The banks were bailed out after their own bad lending practices. There's a bit of a difference there.

If in a few months the curve in the west, just like now in China and South Korea, is flattening and there are less new cases than recoveries.....then yes you should feel relieved TNB. But the west won`t implement draconian measures like China did ….nor is Africa capable of doing so. Besides can we trust what the Chinese government says ?
Anything is possible at this stage and time will tell . Wishing and hoping, burying your head in the sand ,as well as stressing and panicking won`t do any good. Planning and taking personal measures against a worse case scenario is the best one individual can do. If you plan to pray then stay at home to do it.

Wtf ... Do you see what's happening in Italy?
Guys ,if you have a death wish, take yourself out.
Leave grandpa and grandma alone.

Im now in NYC, and the weather is 50F and it is very rare to see anyone with any type of mask or scarf covering their mouths and nose. I wear a painters mask and a bandana as a double mask. At least it's something.
I do notice people looking at me like Im the one out of place.
When the death count starts rising fast, the first thing people will ask , how old were they.

And this gives absolutely no hope for reigning in global warming. People just will not make sacrifices or change their habits but the caronavirus in it's own lovely way, is slowing down the world's carbon footprint.

I went for brunch at a favorite local restaurant here in the USA this morning with a longtime SA friend, and I was shocked that the normally extensive brunch menu was pruned down to a choice of 4 dishes: shrimp and grits, the house burger, the house poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, and chicken and waffles. There was only one other couple in the restaurant, and me and my friend were seated on the opposite side of the dining room, so we effectively dined alone. My cousin went to another popular restaurant Friday night with her husband, and told me there was only one other couple in this normally bustling, large Italian restaurant.

It is social distancing- people are staying at home.

This is the smart thing to do and what everybody should be doing if they can.
Perhaps if we all did this we could change the tide on this horrific event.

This is exactly what I am doing staying at home and talking to family on face time.
During the two world wars they took all the men to the front lines to fight, here we are asked to stay home eat well watch tv are able to talk and see all our loved ones, yet we still bitch and complain and don’t do our utmost to follow sound advice.
Go figure.

At the same time, it seems a good idea to support local businesses like cafes and restaurants to the extent you can. I spoke with a couple of local (in my small town) restaurant owners today, they are really scared, understandably so. I am ordering take out tonight.

You bring up a good point Bred,
Yes by all means order take out, have food delivered support the businesses that you can.

Unfortunately we are all in for a horrible time even financially, but all the money in the world won’t help you if you are dead.

Well, this is not bubonic plague or Spanish flu (at least not yet), so I don't think we should overdramatize it. Keep reasonable precautions and you should be safe, that is how I see it (at the moment.)
