A buddy of mine in New York City texted me tonight and told me his luck had run out and he tested positive this morning. He said his symptoms are low grade fever, fatigue, headaches and nausea but his sense of taste and smell are not impacted so far. His wife tested negative, but she must be going bananas because they live together. He said his breathing is OK so far but the doctor told him to get his ass to hospital if he deteriorates. He is at home resting.

This is getting totally out of control! I wonder who is going to be next?

Around the corner
EB,

I hope your buddy recovers fast and his symptoms remain mild.
My buddies mom went in for a routine operation and contracted Covid in the hospital.
The operation was a success but she died from the virus. She was 82 and relatively healthy for her age.
It is now getting to the point when we are all starting to have people or relatives of people we know get seriously sick or die from this shit.

NY, especially NYC has been surging with new Covid cases. But it's not as bad as you would think. As of yesterday it's at 2.2%. It just sucks being part of that 2.2%. The upstate and western region is seeing surges above 5%. The rest of the country is doing much worse than that. Wearing masks, social distancing, washing hands, etc. is really all we have against Covid and it doesn't seem to be working. Lockdowns are coming. I had a minor elective surgery purposely done in September in anticipation of a surge. I read the book "The Great Influenza" about the 1917 pandemic and was convinced that the summer was the calm before the storm. What sucks about my procedure is that there was a slight complication and I need to go under the blade again for literally 10 minutes. So I'm even nervous as shit about that. But as long as the positivity rate stays around 2% it should be fine. If anybody has an elective surgery that they are putting off, your probably better off waiting until the spring if you can.

I sympathize with you, and I understand you because my mother died in a CHSLD, she only stayed 5 weeks before dying (thank you my God, she didn't suffer very long).
What was sad is that I was the only one in my family who could see her before she left us.

So when I hear people say it's just the flu, and they don't want to follow instructions, it makes me aggressive.

I haven't really heard anyone saying it's just the flu. Flu like symptoms, yes, but that's about it. We have plenty of therapeutics now and a better understanding of Covid which is probably why the death rate is still relatively low. Let's hope the next couple of weeks keep the death toll down or else the hospitals will be overrun like they were in April.

^^^^^^ And the Moderna does not require the ultra cold storage of Pfizer.

^^^^Yes! The smart people on television were saying that the Moderna vaccine is easier to get to the general public and that the Pfizer vaccine will probably be used in Hospitals and medical offices that are better prepared to keep it cold.

So Cuomo is going to sue President Trump over the possible vaccine distribution because the inner city poor will not have the same access to the new vaccine as the average American. Why? Well because private enterprise is going to release the vaccine. This means you go to Walgreens or CVS to get your shot and the poor do not have access. Why? Because they burned their Walgreens during the last BLM/ANTIFA rally. Great! Fuck em. Let them walk to the nearest pharmacy they forgot to raze to the ground.

I feel bad for people that didn’t partake in the riots and looting but they should take their anger to the voting booths and expel all local officials that represent them.

My brother’s friend died earlier this month from COVID in Portland, OR. He was 63, 100% healthy, an avid tennis player and mounting bike rider. Diagnosis: bad luck

I guess you don`t listen to your beloved orange one. Its on tape . He calls covid19 just another flu that will soon go away...that was about a month ago. You may also want to re-read some of the early comments on this thread when it was called just another bad cold by some posters who should have known better.

BTW anyone can get it and what is scary is that they don`t know how they got it. A wealthy doctor whom I know is in hospital with a serious case of cv19 and is being treated with the same medical cocktail that trump got.

So, one person, that you’ve heard on tape? That’s quite the list. As far as early comments on this thread, none of us knew how bad this was going to be. So I’ll pass on re-reading earlier comments. That would be foolish. We have two vaccines almost ready to go to the public because of Trump’s “Operation Warp Speed”. If you don’t want to take it, that’s fine to. More for us.

Odd that during the covid spike the flu cases dropped, one fuck of a lot.

Found this clip today....

At this point in last year's flu season, Canada had already recorded 711 positive cases of influenza.

So far this year, there have been just 17.

"Influenza is way behind the eight ball here," said Dr. Gerald Evans, chair of infectious disease in the department of medicine at Queen's University in Kingston, Ont.

That is unfortunate. I texted my buddy in NYC today. He is 57, retired, in excellent shape, usually visits me for long weekends 2-3 times a year, typically built around big sports events. He reported to me today that he feels a little better than Sunday but is very fatigued. He is eating and drinking. Said he has been resting and watching a lot of Netflix. He mentioned 2 shows, "Medal of Honor" and "Unsolved Mysteries." He is living with his wife in NYC. Their daughter is away at grad school. The wife tested negative. She must be freaked out, being alone with a Covid positive person. But part of the marital vow is standing by your spouse in "sickness and in health", so she has to suck it up, I guess.

It was a pretty mild season saully in the lands down under. Well, not sure about Brazil. But Australia and New Zealand had mild flu seasons.

My brother’s friend worked in a senior position for a major corporation and had an excellent health insurance. He received basically the same treatment as Tramp did. He was improving and was discharged from the ICU. He talked to my brother 2 days before his death via WhatsApp and told him that he believes he is out of the woods. Then his lungs rapidly collapsed.

We are going into lockdown again. I’ll do anything within my power to avoid large gatherings and wear my mask and keep my distance. I just have no confidence in the ruling class particularly in the Blue States. Why should we listen to them? They make all these proclamations and then violate nearly every rule that they make? Even R2D2 has to admit it. They’re a bunch of hypocrites. Nancy Pelosi was caught without a mask getting her hair done. She is hosting a dinner party for members of Congress. Lori Lightfoot, the Mayor of Chicago and Bill De blasio were out celebrating the election. They said that this spontaneous celebration was ok. Before this riots were ok. She also violated her order and was caught getting her hair done. She said she had to. She’s the mayor. Never mind she looks like the bride of Frankenstein. Gavin Newsome attended a birthday party in-doors in Napa Valley and just apologized and yet he has established some bizarre rules for Thanksgiving for everyone else? Even the Turkey has to be served with a mask on...Biden took his mask off to sneeze into his hand? WTF? Chuck Schumer was out celebrating. Anyone see the Dems passing around that bottles of champagne? California law makers travel to Hawaii. Whitmore’s husband used his wife’s name (Big Gretch) in order to take his boat out. Why is this ok? The riots were ok. WTF?
