Where exactly is Stanley Cybercafe, EB? Don't just say on Stanley. lol

If you walk north from St. Catherine it is right after the Chez Cora on the right hand side, before the Metro Station entrance, in a basement level office that you have to walk down a set of stairs to get to. They have about 15 or so monitors and no air conditioning, but a fan and since it is basement level usually does not get too hot. They share office space with a travel agency. From the HDLM, this Cybercafe can be accessed by cutting through an alleyway just south of the Vogue that runs from rue de la Montagne, across Drummond and then to Stanley. You will see the Chez Cora if you peek through the alley way from Rue de la Montagne.

BTW super hiro, there is a separate thread on Internet Cafes and you should do a search if you are interested in using Internet Cafes.

There is also a Cafe Depot Internet Cafe corner de Maissoneuve and rue de La Montagne, opposite Eggspectation restaurant.

The HDLM has free wireless internet, but as has been described elsewhere on the Board, the service is very crappy and you get what you pay for, which is nothing. When I was last here in April, I used Doc Holliday's lap top and the service was constantly crapping out during the critical late afternoon hours when typically you are calling and trying to set something up with an agency.

It worked great the last couple of times i stayed there. It is possible that when we stayed at the HDM last spring, that their wireless system was rather new & still had a few bugs. But as i mentionned, their internet has worked great during my last two stays since.

As for the Vogue, i used to use their business center a few years ago & remember that they had all the sex-related sites (such as Merb, etc) blocked out by their firewall. That's when i decided to go for a walk in search of a cybercafe & discovered the one on Stanley.

The Hyatt offered free wireless internet in the businessmens lounge only...which consisted of 4 chairs and lots of foot traffic to see what sites your surfing. Dont know if they still offer this anymore since its been years since ive been there.

I won a PL bid for Hyatt for next month. If they offer wirelesss in the lounge, wouldn't it be accessible from outside the small room?

Anyone been more recently? Is it still as bad?

Cafe on Renee Levesque ?

Anybody knows about the internet advertised on the door of a coffee shop right across from Tim Hortons, one block from Hyatt Regency Hotel ?

Is it any good ?

I don't know exactly the name of the coffee shop, not a Starbucks though.

free internet (and local phone calls)

Both Quality Hotel (on Ave du Parc) and Quality Inn (on Crescent) provide free internet and free local phone calls. Some hotels now charge $1.50/local call + tax and that can add up to a few bucks.

Both of them have decent rooms and facility, and can be had for down to $45 or $50 during the summer (when there is no major event going on) on Priceline. It is not a good deal in the winter time since you could get hotels like the Hyatt and Delta for that price. Location-wise Quality Inn is superior to Quality Hotel, but Quality Hotel has a bit nicer room and facility.
