Final U.S. Election Prediction.

Hello all,

It takes 270 electors to win the Presidency. As you know by now, the Presidential elections are not decided by the total popular vote. It depends on how many "electors" a candidate wins, and each state has a number of electors assigned based on the size of the population.

So who do you think will win and how big do you think that victory will be??? Now, the terms and assigned numbers here are a bit arbitrary, but generally I think we all get the idea.

By the way, please feel free to vote...THAT MEANS EVERYONE...Lurkers, Mods, Agency Owners, Escorts...anyone interested.

I can see Obama winning, but only by a slight margin. He has run one hell of a campaign.

Obama leads in all the big tossup states. Even in the unlikely event that McCain wins all of them, he'd still have to win either Nevada or New Hampshire, where Obama leads as well, in order to get the magic 270 number.

Hello all,

Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Virginia in the early races are the vital states to watch. Pennsylvania is the anchor. If Obama gets this state, and polls have never really showed it close there, all he needs is any of the others to win. In Virginia he is considered a solid favorite. Ohio and Florida are close, but all polls in the last two weeks are very steady in showing Obama with a lead. If he gets all four it will be a landslide. Florida had already had 2 million voters go to the early polls and Democrats have so far outnumbered Republicans voting by 2-1.

One telling sign is that Missouri, one of the toughest battle ground states in which McCain has led narrowly for a long time, has just polled dead even. And in Arizona, McCain's home state, the polls show the gap closing. All signs look tough for McCain.

Looking at McCain's credentials one sees that McCain at best is the village idiot's understudy. He has lost any respect I had for him. I can think of nothing worse than McCain/Palin running the country.

Hello all,

According to CNN "Poll of Polls" there are some changes:

North Carolina from close for Obama to safe for Obama.

Virginia from safe for Obama to close for Obama

Indiana (usually safe Republican) and Missouri are a toss up.

Montana and North Dakota, usually safe for Republicans, now a toss up.

Arizona, McCain's home state, gives him only a 5% lead.

Ohio and Florida are currently holding with 4-5% leads for Obama.

NOTE: CNN uses various internal state tracking polls which can be identified by moving the cursor over each state.

Sad. Such a short time before the election and he had lost his father, mother, and now his grandmother. I wonder who he has left of his closest family in these generations. It must be very tough on him.

Well, he has O’l Aunti Zeituni Onyango that lives in a Boston slum and is an illegal alien. Oh, but he threw her under the bus too. This is what BO said about her……
“If she is violating laws those laws have to be obeyed. We’re a nation of laws. Obviously that doesn’t lessen my concern for her, I haven’t been able to be in touch with her. But I’m a strong believer you have to obey the law.”

Montrealers will be partying it up tonight

Montreal bars and pubs hosting results parties

There's no hockey game, but it will be just as busy in Montreal's pubs and bars, as people hold election results parties tonight.

As Montrealers look to share an historic moment with friends, city pubs are expecting full houses on what would otherwise be a quiet night.

"We already have a group of people who said they would come. I'm sure it will be pretty packed," said Chris Stewart, manager of Ye Olde Orchard Pub on Prince Arthur St. "There's no hockey game, so we'll be showing the election results on the televisions."

The Ye Olde Orchard location on Mountain St. will also broadcast the election results, and a contingent of political science students from Concordia University has booked the pub for their election results-watching party.

Students at McGill will head to Gert's pub, in the basement of the student union building. Several groups have already reserved the pub's televisions to show the results.

A group called Americans Abroad is hosting a party at the Burgundy Lion pub on Notre Dame St. in Little Burgundy. The party is organized by the Montreal chapter of Democrats Abroad. The bar will be showing the CNN broadcast of the results.

A slightly more upscale party is planned at the Opus Hotel on Sherbrooke St. West. The event will be hosted by Martine St-Victor, president of Groupe Milagro, a public relations firm. The event, called Cocktails and Obama is billed as a night for "Barackanistas" and "Politicos." The cover charge is $10. Details are at www.canadaforobama.ca.

For those who don't want to go to a bar, Rev. Darryl Gray of the Imani Family and Full Gospel Church on Richmond St. in Little Burgundy has invited the congregation and the community at large to take in the results on a large-screen TV brought in for the occasion.

If Obama wins, a group of Montrealers is planning to celebrate the historic moment at a celebration called the Welcome Back America Party. As of yesterday, the event on the social networking site Facebook had 1,500 confirmed guests. There was a tentative plan to meet at Parc des Amériques on St. Laurent Blvd., at the corner Rachel St.
