What about all the slave labour for the garment industry? Why does this not cause even a second thought? Oh, I know , because this way we we pay less for our stuff and our capitalistic economy is completely based on our need to constantly buy more stuff!

Ronnie, not entirely true! We do want to pay less BUT, the main point is more money in the pockets of the companies using slave labour. Take the greed out and remove transportation costs to get stuff from India and such to here and at the end, the price we pay would probably not be much higher!

The proof? When a company lay-off it's North-American employees to sent the work in Mexico or Corea, whatever, when did you see the price you pay go down? If the salaries made such difference, shouldn't we benefit from the now lower costs? We don't!

Back to the opening topic: Why not stronger sentences? I'm all for that when trafficking is involved!

Actually, we did. Example is Dollarama which is a concept that didn't even exist a few years ago. Also, 1988-2005 was a period of super low inflation by historical standards. But that's best discussed in another thread.

Back to the opening topic: Why not stronger sentences? I'm all for that when trafficking is involved!

The articles also mention cracking down on sex tourists from the USA going to Canada. I'm all in favour of jailing pedophiles and abusers, but we should keep in mind the agenda of some out there to criminalize all pay-for-play.

Most here would be against force slave sex workers. I would rather have women doing it because they love sex and the money too.

I saw a few movies about this where I would had like to see those bastards pay more or be treated the same way and see if they like it. Having harsher sentences is a good.
