You should be able to tell the difference between a well established, serious, professional provider and a scammer... I get that most do this for their own safety and to avoid fake bookings. More power to them! Thanks ladies!!

I stick to my principals and you stick to yours ! ok ? I will never ever transfer money in advance, that's it that's all. And it's my right.
My post should have said. You are mentioning the stupidities of men. Not “you are the stupidities of men”
I apologize for the mistake. I was not trying to insult you

First time last week in over 20+ years in the hobby. I did my research and all I could find were positive reviews. Of course, she "ghosted" until my window of opportunity was over, then she blew up my text with all of the bad things that happened to her during the day that prevented her from seeing me - for six hours?

Typically for the hobby in the US. Never again for me.

A well established, serious, professional provider just refunded my deposit for a booking she had to cancel. She was touring and, well, stuff happens. She refunded me with an Amazon gift card and not cash, so I think I may need to raise a stink.... ;)
I will not answer for what happens in the US.
There is no shortage of info out there so if you do your homework your chances of not getting scammed are pretty good. Of course a 50-100% deposit is sketchy, but if you were hiring her to redo your bathroom you would find a less sketchy contractor no?

This is really typical for US escorts? Because the majority of US escorts want a deposit?

I tend to avoid deposits for the hassle of it all but I would never see someone I dont trust enough to be willing to send a deposit and I would never send more then I could accept to loose.
I have done it a few times and see it as an investment in mutual trust.
I pre-pay my regular for every meeting and really enjoy the fact that it is out of the way.
If someone dosn’t want to, there are plenty of alternatives.

I saw someone in Toronto back in March to celebrate my birthday with an overnight date. I sent her a few transactions to cover her whole donation a few weeks before actually meeting her. The back and forth i had messaging with her just put me at ease and had no problem sending it all before our session. We're coming to Montreal in June for a weekend to celebrate her birthday and will have sent her the whole amount, over a few transactions, before we even leave Toronto. Would i do this with just anyone, definitely not, but with this person i always will.

Was this your choice? Because this seem very odd and for ME it would had been a NO unless im loosing my money entierely (and i would had made a review mentioning it). I do buy on Amazon here and there but not that often. Actually to think of it the few times i did buy stuff there was external hard drives. I prefer ebay for video games or movies because ebay has much better pictures and descriptions to see the quality of the item and/or wich version it is, like if it has french language for instance. I understand i may be part of the minority tough as Amazon makes much more profit than ebay and a lot of peoples buy tons of stuff on there.

But in any case if im saving money for a meeting, i need that money for the meeting. If it does not work with her, ill use that $ with someone else.

Now to answer the question, no i never sent a deposit and altough you gotta never say never, its not something i am comfortable with. Its not only the aspect of loosing the money (potentially), its also the concept of having to bother with electronic transfers and what they imply. Its weird cause im not really secretive per say and do not have to hide that i indulge in this hobby to anyone, but still i feel there is a line between telling someone my real name and sending an official electronic trace with it. Also the few times i actually gave my real entire name to an SP, it involved her giving hers as well. (For exemple, a facebook friendship)

There is a few indies that are very tempting to see. They are on the higher end of the $ spectrum but once in a while im not totally against going a little over the usual price. But if i see a deposit is require its a no... I just forget about it.

It wasn't my choice, but the point was that I got the refund... I buy stuff on Amazon so the next $100 goes on my gift card and not my credit card.
In the end, I think many of us have been doing this for long enough to be able to spot a scam. If I have any inkling that I'm being played I would never do it. If I know I am dealing with someone established and professional then I have no problem with it. I understand that they are likely doing it for their own safety and avoiding fake bookings. Honestly, you will be rewarded for showing a little trust and faith.

Like i said, if it was fine with you and she proposed it and you said yes then there is nothing wrong with it. I wonder if she had proposed and you said no. I understand if you buy online often on amazon then for you its fine. And you do see it as a refund. But to me its like if i buy a new game in a store, but happen the disc is broken inside, get back to the store for them to exchange it, but it was their last copy and they only offer store credit. Huh... even if i may very well buy there again in the futur and it wouldn't be lost money, maybe i need that 100$ on that day to buy THAT game i wanted, and i want my money back so i can go buy it in a different store.

As for the second part, thanksfully for now at least in Montreal it seem to be a rare thing, a niche, and mostly is demanded by providers who work majorly in Toronto or Vancouver, where it seem to be more common. So for now i have plenty of other options i can stick with, wich is not an issue. Im willing to give a reference if needed, or my merb handle, but so far FOR NOW i am not willing to give deposits or my full name or even more intrusive infos (i seen providers in the states who will litteraly call your job to make sure its really you there) . This could change in the futur. Who knows, but unless it become a standard in Montreal and my options get very restricted, i prefer to stay on that side of the fence.

I'm not trying to convince anybody... My experience doing it has been positive, with no bs. Obviously I'm careful with who I would agree. But that's me... If others aren't comfortable with it I totally understand their point of view.
Best life advice I ever got applies pretty well here... "Don't be a dumb@ss."

ps: 2nd best life advice I ever got... "Don't sh!t on your own doorstep." Probably applies here too... :)
