I have never used priceline.com. I was wondering if you any of you guys can help me with the process. I am thinking about booking a room from the 17th of May til 20th of May, 2004. I am looking for a 3 star plus hotel. I also have no clue where the hotels are exaclty located from the heart of the city of monteral. I usaully stay at the Vogue with a buddy but since he will not be going with me. I didnt want to drop a whole lot money for a room. Or can anyone recommend another online site that has great deals on hotel rooms.

Thanks,
HN

I stayed at L'appartement on Sherbrooke several times over the years and it's OK. The location is tops. The pool and rooftop deck are great. The downside is parking is usually across the street in the Delta, there's no high speed Internet, and Eastar has moved! It is looking a little worn in places too, although they did update it last year. The elevators are tiny.

Last time we stayed at the Faubourg Suites on Rene Levesque. The location isn't as great and they don't have a pool, but almost everything else is better. It's less than two years old and our suite had a world class kitchen and much larger bathroom, the included high speed Internet was great, the free breakfast was great, and they have valet parking right at the front door. The elevators are modern and large. They have a deal where if you shop the Internet for the best price on Expedia et all, then call them directly to book, they will beat your best price by $10 for repeat visitors. I'm not sure if they do this for first time guests.

$ 300 CAD per night and they're nickel & diming you over phone calls!? Definitely one to be crossed off the list!

Highelove's experience reminds us that we should all check our hotel bills over carefully before leaving. There was an article last week in the New York Times describing how hotels are becoming more aggressive about tacking on extra charges now that travel is recovering from its post-9/11 nadir.

I fully agree that the Nelligan is way over-rated, and that many other hotels (such as St-Paul) are much better. Much better!!!!

I would also advise people to double-check their mini-bar billings when they check out, even if they haven't used anything. Recently, a friend of mine stayed at the Sheraton and when he checked his bill prior to checking out, he noticed he had been billed for a bottle of red wine. When he called the reception desk, he was told that the new 'electronic' mini-bar probably was the culprit, since it is very sensitive to touch or movement. He was told that the correction to his bill would be done immediately. Well, an hour later when he checked out in person, the bottle of red wine was still showing in his bill. Only after a small arguement with the receptionist was he able to get it deleted from his bill.

Damn electronic mini-bars!!!

Hopefully, the holiday inn will work. Had to make last minute bids on priceline and got the holiday inn for $100USD a night for the 8th of June till the 11th.

Ouch!!! I've never paid more than $40 on Priceline for the Holiday Inn Select. You paid a bit too much. It's not worth $100 USD. You should have tried Hotwire, which is now my favorite site for hotels. No need to bid...you know what you're getting, and some of its properties are not available on Priceline.

It was a last minute decision. I had a friend who originally was going to come also. Reservations were under his name under his company disount at the Hotel Vogue. Had a change of plans and he can no longer join us. At hotwire, does it show you which hotel you are purchasing? Also I tried a bid last week for $70 and it was declined. So, I tried $100 just to make sure I could get a room and the bid was accepted. I was also thinking the prices would be up there due to Grand Prix coming in that week. Taking a newbie up to Montreal for the first time and didnt want to dissapoint him since he has already taken his vacation days off for the trip. Has anyone ever tried to cancel a priceline bid? Is it possible? If so I do I go about doing it?

You've got mail.

Note: the Holiday Inn Select is one of the most discreet hotels you'll find anywhere in order to see espys. Your guests do not have to go through a 'main entrance' or 'lobby area'. They simply enter the side door and take the elevator to go up to your room. There is also a bar downstairs with a giant tv screen, and a fairly decent chinese restaurant at the main floor (near the bar). I love the water fountain!

I did make a offer of priceline a week earlier at $90 for a three star and above hotel just for the hell of it. The initial bid was denied. I dont know what to say but I will be in Montreal that week. Doesnt seem bad as the bill will be split three ways. Keep on posting reviews guys, with all the info I have gathered so far I definetly have a couple of girls in mind for my trip.

I wish it were that cheap. $100USD does seem high, but I didnt want to take the chance and wait another 48 hours to put in a rebid. So I took the safe route and bid a little higher to insure a room. I stayed at the Delta Montreal 2 weeks ago through price line for $55 USD a night Sunday through Wednesday. I did search through bidding for travel.com and it seems as if no one wants to be in Montreal for GP week. I really dont want to be there during GP week, but my work schedule allows me off that entire week. So I invited a friend to show him around Montreal. I will be also returning in July to celebrate my birthday in Montreal. Cant wait till that date comes around. Maybe Ill take the plunge and try 2 women at once. :)

Special K is correct. Hotels are usually reserved nearly a year in advance for the GP weekend. There are, however, exceptions to the rule. Some hotels' personal websites do have vacancy available at some of their properties, but usually off-island and quite a distance from downtown (and way over-priced).

I haven't yet seen hotels available for that weekend on sites such as Priceline, Hotwire, or any others.

Boutique hotel on Hotwire

Two of my buddies have been asking me which 'boutique' hotel listed at 3.5 stars is available on Hotwire. Anyone know? It indicates that it is suite, has a pool, a gym and a restaurant.

How are the hotel rates during mid July? I plan on making a trip July15th-July18th. I will most likely be using priceline.com again. What should I expect to pay for a 3-4 star hotel?

Thanks,
HN

Toronto and Ottawa have always had lower-priced hotels available via Priceline. For some reason, Montreal is always a bit more expensive. I'm used to getting rooms in Toronto (via PL or Hotwire) regularly for $30-50, and that includes the Marriotts (Eaton Center and Courtyard) and the Sutton Place & Sheraton Center, all in the 3 star range. The choice of hotels in the 4 star bracket is usually minimal.

Quick question guys, planning on a HDH encounter (I have not done many of those. I usually take a nice room at the Chablis for my enconters. This problably is a stupid question but is the Chablis insufficient for an HDH like ``The companions or I-N``. I have no problem with getting a nice room at a nice hotel, its just that I have a thing for mirrors and hot tubs. Plus the room I would end up getting at the Chablis will problably cost more then the one of the better known hotel rooms.

Thanks for the help
