How are things around Montreal lately?

I was last there a year ago, and Montreal had the feeling of only having just gotten out of Pandemic restrictions. Strip clubs were dead for the most part except weekend nights, there was a lot less foot traffic from people partying. All of the whole in the wall eateries on Ste. Catherine seemed like they were gone.

In short, it was kind of depressing.

It was like an old girlfriend you used to have sex with and now she kind of looks beaten worn out, like she smoked 12 packs a day.

Have things picked up? Is the "party" atmosphere coming back?

Since the covid there is a big unbalance, the weekends are too busy and the week too dead. I like to go during the week to the stripclubs but there tend to be not much strippers available, they all pile up on Fridays and Saturdays along with all those young rowdy college kids. This summer there were so many events and Saturdays are always so crowded, metros are packed. I never seen the metro so packed on Saturday nights. I cannot stand it. The one and only thing I missed about the lockdowns was the emptiness, I always had a seat in the metro.

Lately.....except weather.......Montreal was on fire....a lot of festivals/music.....and sports/cultural events....crazy/crowdy downtown.....BUT coming this fall or winter life is not the same here.....not a big fan of strip clubs...so don"t know about...except for
CLÉO /Ste-Catherine--St-laurent....it sems business as usual for those who like special bar and ambiance....lolll....BUT for sps....indies or agencies ...Montreal is still the place...lolll....you can't go wrong anytime of the year.....so enjoy.

The few times I’ve been back to Montréal compared to last year is somewhat different. Like @CLOUD 500 mentioned it’s really quiet during the week. I noticed that there really hasn’t been any new restaurants or bars to make up for the ones that went away during the lock downs. Also, the hotels have increased their room rates by quite a lot. Other than that, you can count on the traffic, construction, and the homeless to be the same if not greater now than it was last year.

And in a couple years everything will be worse

Yeah, sad to hear that. I mean I love the strip clubs and all, but everything seemed a little more dead. All those fun hole in the wall eateries and such....and the weekdays kind of sucked. I'm glad to hear festival season was rocking, maybe next year I come up during one of the mid sized festivals like Just for Laughs.

What do you all suggest I do during the week. Yeah I kno.....w there are options from on here....but are there hot spots with a little bit of life still during the week?

Last year I hit Le Gentleman's (no stage show, two girls on) , 10-35 (not bad, no girls my type...but it at least had some life to it), Cleo's (Dead weeknights, great weekends), Kingdom (pretty decent weekdays, way too expensive weekends), Downtown ( I told my friends not to go, but they dragged me in....tourist trap sucked them in), Adagio (way more expensive nowadays)

Cloud, what you described is the same as it was when I stopped up last year.

A lot of bars were slow, the party vibe on the streets was gone. All the cheap hole in the wall ethnic restaurants were closed, as many homeless as ever.....but way more aggressive than they used to be. Felt more dangerous, I'm a big strong guy....but the difference was noticeable.

Thanks Gabby, I am hoping that holds up some, I'll be there in Oct.

LC18, I generally do a little of everything.

Toto, I hope you're wrong, but suspect you're correct.

Ok then you won’t be bored. It’s not what it used to be pre pandemic but it’s also not what it was immediately after. It’s starting to pick up again.

A few new lounges have opened so finding a date there is possible. New restaurants to try. Massage parlours are hiring again and at this time a year, many escorts are available as they are back in town to start school

Its simply not the same, when i was younger we use to go out in Montreal a lot, we walk on St Catherine street at 3am, no problem but now with the rise in violence i would not feel safe anymore.

All the clubs i used to go to younger are now closed except Le Belmont (that place was amazing) but its now a hip hop bar? for the strip club didn't the maire of montreal want to close them all? lots of strip clubs are now closed.

Day activity suggestion: rent an ebike and have a ride to Mont-Royal park. Colors are wonderful at this time.
You can also easily make your way downtown avoiding construction areas.
