How many people like reading the reviews that are descriptive like Penthouse letters and do they help you decide on whether or not you want to see the girl? How many people would just prefer a numerical system that is informative and not detailed, ie Body 10/10? What about Reviews that are just acronyms, ie BBBJ, CIM... Just curious. Hope you enjoy my reviews. :)

I like descriptive reviews that give a good idea of a lady's personality. On the other hand I don't like it when it's a huge block of text 5 pages long. A few short well-written paragraph is ideal. But any kind of review is always welcome. Essentially I just want to confirm the good impression I had while looking at her website or ads before making contact.

Numbers are only meaningful if you are able to look at a poster's review history and see what all his numbers are, a la TER and their reviewer history. You click one button and see the guy's entire review history. A lot of posters there (TER) have 30 reviews but never have given any girl less than a 9. WTF?????/ I guarantee that you have reviewers here that the highest they ever give is an 8 because they believe anything above is reserved for celebs and porn starlets, and others who never review a girl as less than a 8.8. Unfortunately since you cannot cross check their posting histories in any meaningful manner so as to only retrieve numerical reviews or a numerical review history a la TER, the numbers do not mean shit.

Therefore, I go with descriptive reviews.

Numbers are subjective and useless. What is a 7, what is a 7 to you vs to me.
Long winded detailed descriptions sounds like the dude is shilling for himself and as I am never going to have any interest in fucking a dude and the girls will only do you if you pay seem pointless.
If I wanted erotica I'd go to an erotica... well actually I'd go to one of the porn tubes because as a dude I am not into written erotica when there is actual porn afoot.

What you need.

Are the pictures accurate. Does she look like somebody famous if there are no face pics.
Was the transaction conducted in a professional manner [on time for example]
A general note about attitude and her nature.
Were there any on menu items that were asked and not offered for no known reason.
Any special requests she fullfilled.
In Merb a note on language skills.
Finally is she a zombie.

Anything else is a whole lot of blah blah blah.

For example to use an example from the other side of the border

Everything went smoothly.
Particually good oral.
Very friendly and easy to talk to and work with.
She obviously works out but not as lean as in pics, still lean.
Didn't try to eat my fresh tasty brains.

There. Everything you need to know without having to wade through page after page of narcicistic bullshit. If something isn't mentioned obviously it wasn't considered an issue.

But no. So many reviews are more like. "There I was going over to Shelbyville with an onion on my belt as was the style of the times and back then nickles and bees on them and we would say give us 5 bees fo a quarter. Well anyways..."

Reviews so bloody long that I don't have the patience to find the essesial information. Is she honest, is she pleasant.

I like to get a general feeling of the girl... honestly the thing i look the most about a review is attitude... if her attitude is friendly, and she is a great girl to meet, she is a person i want to meet. I couldn't care less about look review cause looks is subjective to the person. Numbers? Numbers are to review a movie, a video game, not a human being and i find them extremely out of context, to a point it almost bothers me really. I feel this is a lack of respect...

I just feel there some things you should share, like for exemple if she is written as providing cim, did she was ok with it or not? what kind of general feeling you had with the girl...

But i don't look at reviews to masturbate and feel them like an erotic story... even if maybe sometimes it may help the girl and may make clients want to see her more...

EB is correct. TER has scale for looks and performance.

1 - I was really scared
2 - Ugly
3 - Homely
4 - OK if you are drunk
5 - Plain
6 - nice
7 - attractive
8 - really Hot
9 - Model Material
10 - Once in a lifetime

I frequently look at the TER member's history and look at the spread in the data. Down south, in the USA, they will sometimes give an old hag 8,8's. In Montreal an 8 is a truly reserved for hot girls.

I looked at the spread in my data. I have reviewed a fraction of the girls that I have seen on TER. I noticed that my most frequent rating is an 8 and the range is generally 7-9. I have given three 5's and two 6's and one 10. I once knocked on the door of a girl using fake pictures. She would have been a < 5 but I ran down the fire escape and I didn't review her because there was no session. i refuse to session with ugly woman.

Since I read reviews, I believe can avoid plain and ugly looking girls. So this, more than anything else, is responsible for the high average. When I TOFTT is when I tend to see a 5 or 6. case and point the last girl I saw in South Carolina. Notice that I was the first to review her and I gave her a 6 for looks. She now has 6 reviews including two 8s for looks. I defy any MERBite to see her and tell me if she deserves more than a 6.

However, after all this, when I see a girl with all 9's and 10's I am pretty sure that she will be worth my time.

About 9 years ago, there was a lady who worked as an indy in Connecticut who had 10 reviews on TER and none were less than a "9-Model Material", and she also had 9s across the board on service. I decided to see her and it was a complete waste of money. She was at best a 5 on the TER scale in my book - "plain". Her service was average for the USA SPs and below average for Montreal SPs. It did not compute in my mind. I truly believe she figured out a way to self post those reviews, either herself or through proxies who were given discounts. This is why looking at the posting history of the reviewer is of paramount importance on TER. TER's sole mechanism of regulating shills is to enable you to click on the poster's review history and you have to do it before you make any decisions. If there is no history, then you roll the dice as to the veracity of the reviewer, and that is what I had done for the most part with that Connecticut indy who had straight 9s.

However, if TER is researched carefully, it is a pretty good resource. And I recently did see a lady in NYC who had racked up all 9s and one 7, and she was as good as her reviews. But the reviews were legit and checked out when each poster's review history was cross-checked.

You have to do the same drill in looking at MERB reviews, but crosschecking the review history of the poster is a bit harder on MERB. In MERB's history, many shill reviews were posted and heeded because the average MERB poster does not cross-check the reviewer's history of reviews on MERB. It takes too much time, even for people who think to do it. We have also seen consistently negatively reviewed well established bait and switch agencies get posted about and reviewed, and it was usually done by a new poster who simply had not done the research. There are agencies who have had 10 or more confirmed bait and switch reviews by veteran posters going back to 2005, yet those reviews were ignored and we saw reviews from people who clearly had not bothered to read those reviews, or the bait and switch sticky thread posting warnings about those agencies going back to 2005.

In fact, some B&S agencies were and are MERB advertisers, and many of the tricked posters believed that the fact that they were MERB advertisers also meant that these advertisers had to be credible and above board. This naive thinking is laughable, because the only criteria to advertise on MERB (or anywhere else) is that your money is green. It is unbelievable but many people do believe that anyone who advertises on MERB automatically has the seal of credibility as a "good business" or a good indy. MERB is not the better business bureau, it is a for profit enterprise that makes money from advertising, like any other business.

Yes, I even complained to TER recently when I noticed a few girls with nearly a page of good reviews and 8 out of 10 of the reviewers only had 1 review. I submitted a problem report and Admin sent me down another hall of TER.

Gentlemen,

As others have said, the numbers can be helpful if you know the reviewers tastes well enough and they reflect a group with diverse tastes consistently giving the quality of the escort high grades on the areas that concern your own preferences. Otherwise simply reading 8 here or 10 there means very little. Some guy could be drunk, high, or just very horny and he could have been be with a lot of ladies of greatly varying quality he would say were terrific that day. Sometimes I find that a sweet cutie is the best experience for me and if I then say to others that she is an "8" or a "10" it could be very deceptive if others define a 10 as a supermodel providing CIM. Numbers alone are not trustworthy.

Sure using descriptions full of detail may seem crass or something like an exercise in misleading self-glorification. If that's your view of them then you've put yourself in a position of distrust of description on one hand and the trap of subjectivity by numbers on the other. I have always found the results come from knowing the writer(s), the person behind the words. Descriptions of the action are essential, as long as you know the writer well enough and his tendency for accuracy or exaggeration. Just be sure to seek corroboration from other known writers as a matter of insurance...not distrust.

I think a combination of everything is best, but I weight my trust overwhelmingly on knowing a writer who provides descriptions of details and attitudes.

Cheers,

Merlot

Numbers on merb, where they are purely subjective are really not very useful.
Having a scale like on TER greatly increases the usefulness of the information by qualifying each number with a common description that is understood by all.
I really like the review format on TER, there's a section for general information about the provider with stats and services offered, then each review has both ratings and details. Between the information available on TER and what is offered on my website a potential client has more than enough information to make an informed decision on whether my services will meet their expectations, which leads to excellent sessions.

I think that merb reviews, being more free-form are less useful to me as a provider. However I do like the idea that there is interaction in the review threads, that questions can be asked and responded to, etc.

I much prefer the personal approach of a description, numbers, as has been pointed out, are too subjective.

On here I vote for description format, but I do agree on TER the mix of both is quite nicely done :)

Amelie is right on.....a personal description is way more meaningful ........it is interesting to see how the initial contact went and evolved into a brief conversation favouring the establishment of chemistry ...eye contact, body language,(smile ? Sensing, feelings, touching ).......the sensuality evaluation is important as well as the sexuality part.......simply describe your experience and the girl's reaction ......attitude,letting go,
the moments of pleasure, the technique and experience......details ? Why not ? I found that a girl wishes to be respected and given consideration first of all ....then the sex will all that much be better........numbers
are mechanical and impersonal ....we are referring to a human being here....as valuable as you are... Not less

numbers without a scale is meaningless. i don't know why people even bother with that. it makes their review pretty useless

unless merb comes up with a gradation scale, descriptive review is the only way to go. someone's 10 could be someone's 5 and vice versa

heck, i'd take an image review over a numerical. imagine, she looks like (insert picture of celeb), service wise she's like (insert pornstar) and so on

Descriptions of the highlights or unusual stuff is what i am after. acronyms are important to get in a glance what services are provided, as merbites our eyes are trained and they stand out.

Number are somewhat important and better than nothing or seeing 10s across the board.

I completely agree, numbers are only meaningful if you know the reviewer well enough. Therefore IMHO, the ideal review would be 90% descriptive + 10% acronym.

A lot of respected MERB members are too exhibitionistic in their review. They review more themselves than the girl and also use it as kind of a “thank you” form knowing that she will read it. This is not very useful, as your feelings depends at least by 50% on you current mood and on the "click factor“with this particular girl. IMHO TERB format is much less subjective.

According to me, even if there is a numbering system, The numbers we are selecting it is still subjective.
I like numbers but I prefer sometime a descriptive review of the encounter... (As long as it is not too lengthy)
After a while, we start to know the other members personality and what they like or not, who's picky who's not, and their description may help to feel the SP attitude and how she's willing to please, what service is provided and the way it is provided (Mechanical or Sensual) so it may help us to see if their encounter fits with our personality and then it helps us to make a better decision...

But since descriptive review does not have a formal format, there are often many important information missing and also, sometime, reviewers just make poems or they do lengthy posts...
Maybe there should be a limit of characters in the Description as in the PM lol...
Maybe The best would be to have a standard Check List and to have an optional description...

I think it's good to have a free-style format. It's a forum, so if some review does not have all the details we want, we can ask questions. I think the style of the reviews that an escort gets from the members is also an indication of the kind of experience she provides. If you look at the ads, they vary as much as the styles of reviews we see.

A form to review a girl would be great!
You could have all the numerical numbers filled out and then more open ended questions that could be answered.
