I'm interested in seeing how Nomar plays this year and whether or not the fact that Boston management was so willing to put him on the trading block in exchange for A-Rod will affect his attitude.

I'm wondering if his extended stay on the DL is purely physical.

I never question his ability and I fully expect to see him in the Hall of Fame but knowing that the people you've given 110% for all these years were so egar to get rid of you has to have an effect.

Zito to (the hated) Yankees???

Maybe if he had TB or the plague...otherwise the A's would sooner trade him to the Padre's for a 6th round draft.

However, if Boss George spreds the largess thick enough.....;)

For 86 yrs the yanks have always come out on top of my beloved red sox, so naturally I hate the yankees. And yes I hate my Senator. But I'm thankful we didn't win the bidding war for Contreras. I'm also pleased that we ended up with Manny Ramirez & not Mike Mussina. I agree that pitching is more important than offense, but it seems to me that Mussina is to selfish & never accepts any blame when he sucks. He constantly places blame on his defense & lack of run support when he loses. This guy is a piece of crap & not worth his pricetag. Ofcourse this could be said for many of the yanks & sox. History tells us that the sox will lose again this year, but as long as the yanks lose again to a team with a fraction of their payroll & talent

I'll be happy

86 yrs of misery is coming to an end boys. Sox won two in a row against the royals & now Nomahhh is back. That's right the man who leads all american league ss in voting for the All-Star game. Even though he hasn't played a game yet ! What's next David Ortiz will be left off the ballot altogether. Oh wait, that already happened also. Oh well. Ofcourse being a realist, we'll lose in the end.

Beaver,

As a lifetime Red Sox Fan living painfully in NY, last nights slaughter of the Yankees was great. It was the worse loss in Yankee history... As rgnad stated above; "$180 doesn't buy what it used to".

Jeter

All of the criticism of Derek Jeter's defense earlier in this thread was proven to be nonsensical bullshit with today's announcement that Jeter won his first gold glove for his tremendous defensive play at shortstop.

Not correct, Regna D. The award is voted on by Coaches and Managers who presumably know more than you, I and the sportswriters.

Giambi Admits To Being Juiced

Read this:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=1936592

I am completely outraged by Giambi's admitted behavior. He not only violated his contract with the Yankees, but his absence from the Yankees lineup during the postseason, when he could not even make the roster due to ongoing dizzy spells from his illegal steroid usage, certainly hurt the Yankees substantially and contributed to the Yankees' loss to the Red Sox in 7 games.

If justice is served, Giambi will be banned or suspended by baseball, his contract voided, and with the money that is freed up the Yankees can then sign ex-Blue Jays star Carlos Delgado.

Giambi is finished with the Yankees! It is a shame that such a fine organization has now been victimized a couple of times by guys taking a lot of money under false pretenses.

You must have had your head burried in the sand, during these past 4-5 years. Everyone knew Giambi was juiced for the last 4 years or so...including his years in Oakland. Just a glimpse at him indicated this. He showed all the classic physical signs of a steroid user/abuser.

At every game i'd see Giambi play during the last 3 years, i could often be heard heckling him, whenever he'd come up to bat: "Ste-roids, ste-roids, ste-roids!!"

And if there's anyone on this planet who still thinks that Barry Bonds isn't juiced up, well....i have a lake in the Sahara to sell him! :D

Legitimate Bodybuilding

I thought, as did the Yankees, that Giambi had gotten bigger through legitimate bodybuilding. It can happen, you know.

I have allowed for the possibility that Bonds is clean. He is 40 and yet has not shown visible signs of steroid use side effects like Giambi, McGwire, Caminiti, Canseco and the other known and admitted steroid users, all of whom experienced breakdowns with their bodies.

Giambi, Sheffield, Bonds JUICED!!

I saw the funniest t-shirt during the ALCS. It had the pictures of both Giambi and Sheffield on the front and written in Nantucket Nectar style said..."We're Juice Guys"..LMAO!!!

EB, how could you have not known, seriously. Next thing you're going to believe is that Sheffield was never on any illegal drugs.

Lastly EB, you honestly think that Barry Bonds with all the irrefutable evidence against him is clean??? My oh my, I honestly didn't figure you to be that naive.

I hate to wish negativity on anyone, but I pray that Bonds' career ends at 713 homeruns so as to not diminish the accomplishments of the Babe and Hank. There will forever be an asterisk next to his name in the record book if by chance he does break it.

These guys make so much money, that they figure 'why should i have to work out for years when i can simply buy the juice, work out a bit, and get the same results in 6 months?' As for the Yankees....they knew, and didn't care, like most teams in baseball. How many chances did the likes of Darryl Strawberry and Steve Howe get?

Come on!! Not shown visible effects? Bonds today as compared to Bonds of 15 years ago is like comparing Arnold Schwarznegger to PeeWee Herman. :D Of course he's juiced!! The reason(s) that he still hasn't experienced bodily breakdowns is mostly due to the fact that he's more serious and peculiar about what he injects into his body, and he exercises/worksout more than the people you've mentionned. In other words, he's not as lazy as they are.

JaJ,

You are wrong on this. The Yankees had a right to expect that Giambi would behave in accordance with established laws, and take care of his body. I am sure that there is a clause in his contract requiring that he not do anything to jeopardize his own health and not do anything illegal. Even if there isn't a specific clause there is always a catchall clause on not engaging in illegal or self destructive behavior. Either way, the Yankees have to get the contract voided, whether via official punishment by the Commissioner, such as suspension or banishment, or else by litigation. What Giambi did was immoral and he breached the trust of not only the Yankees but their fans who deserved to see a full strength squad in the playoffs last year. Giambi is a scumbag. I doubt he'll ever play again, for any team, but certainly the Yankees must get rid of him immediately through whatever means are necessary.

If there is justice the Commish will ban Giambi, the Yankees won't have to pay him and then they can use that saved money to sign Delgado to play first base. That would be the only result that is fair to the Yankees. Giambi is a cheating scum!

SK, I refuse to believe Sheffield has taken any Nantucket Nectars. He is a good citizen. The reason he got sucked into this scandal is he befriended Bonds and met his trainer (and believe it or not actually hired away Bonds' personal chef). Sheffield has since become estranged from Bonds. The only things Sheffield is guilty of is befriending some guys who were hanging out with steroid suppliers. The rest is hearsay and bullshit that is as credible as the posts of some shills we have seen on this Board.

Regarding Bonds, there is no proof of anything. Look at these other guys who have all broken down at much younger ages than Bonds. I'll admit that Bonds's stats are almost freakish as is his body but perhaps its all legit, the result of serious workouts and legal bodybuilding proteins and enhancers. Giambi was injecting testosterone into his ass and belly. It is really quite disgusting. I wonder if Giambi is still able to get a hard on.

EB,

Sheffield openly admitted back in Aug. or Sept. to using the steroid cream, and that's a fact right out of his mouth!

Steroid Cream

SK,

I think he admitted using the steroid cream for treatment of a localized ailment, not for performance enhancement. I am not sure that the cream does anything for your performance wise. I have used steroid creams in the past to treat skin problems. This is an admission of no consequence.
