I am wondering if any of you guys have bought Instant Pots or Air Fryers and if so what brand/model and your experiences with them. Instant Pot is a Canadian company/maker of multicookers that are soaring in popularity in the USA and one of my buddies advised me to throw away my crockpot and get myself an Instant Pot. So I am asking you guys what your experience has been. I am reading online that the Instant Pot can cook ribs to fall off the bone tender in just 25 minutes. It is apparently a pressure cooker, and pressure cookers have been around for at least 50 years and probably a lot more, so I do not understand what is different technology wise with these Instant Pots that all of a sudden exploded them in popularity within the last few years. But apparently they have some technological advantage over older model pressure cookers, I just don't know what it is.

And my coworker told me she has a Ninja Air Fryer that is just awesome, it will fry anything with no oil, just no stick spray and is great for reheating things like egg rolls and pizza so that they are still crispy. What is the technology going on here? What are your experiences? I heard it can cook raw chicken wings crispy and fully cooked in 15 minutes. I need some more Covid-19 pandemic friendly cookware. Thanks

Wow! It stank after multiple washes and you had to bring it back??????? Yikes!

The base model Instant Pot on Amazon is $80. Add $20 for yogurt making capability and it is $100, add another $20 for for cake making ability and you have the premium 8 in 1 model for $120.

It all depends on what you want to do with it and how many people you are cooking for. I have a $90 halogen convection oven that is see through glass and easy to clean. It can cook for 3 people easily. I would never buy an instant pot.

I use the Philips Multi-cooker which is kinda like the Instant Pot. Great for stews, soups & toughies like lamb shanks, spare ribs and beans. It basically uses pressure to push fluid into the meat, bean or grain resulting in improved tenderness & juiciness.

Happy with it but beware when releasing the pressure valve, it’s like this freakin volcano that spews steam & bits of hot liquid, ouch. Best to just leave it alone for awhile after cooking so some of the pressure will dissipate by itself. Cleaning can be challenging, gotta disassemble the top lid to do a proper clean. Some smaller parts can be tossed in the dishwasher but the main top lid is best flushed with soapy hot water. Alternatively wipe down each part with white vinegar.

Is there anyone who has an instant pot who actually likes it? I got one sitting in storage not even opened from Christmas of 2018?

gll,

When you are able to try it out please post and let us know. I am curious how it reheats fried foods and also curious how it cooks dry rubbed chicken wings and whether you get them more crispy then baking them.

It's very simple. Taking chicken wings separated into wingettes and drumettes and coat them with McCormack Grill Masters Maple Barbecue Dry Rub. To bake them, it usually takes about 43 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit in a convection oven. You might want to look at your user's manual to determine the cooking time for chicken wings. I am guessing 15-20 minutes
