My early impression of Elitexc before it even starts a match is "cheesy" I am already WEC & UFC biased though.

Lots of MMA shows on this weekend on VS and other channels.

Would be nice if more UFC matches were available to regular TV.

UFC 85 happens in London the day I land there, but the cheap tickets are $150/£75 so I will not be attending that.

UFC owns WEC, so it was essentially Dana's choice to make it on free TV. It seems like a reasonable choice to make UFC their premium brand, with title fights PPV, while lesser cards like TUF finales are free. And WEC is their entry-level brand, with title fights on free TV, to compete with Elite and other promotions, and to make sure that they capture the attention of the free TV viewer, to turn him into a PPV viewer. I expect that there will be lots of promos for the UFC in London during the Pulver-Faber card.

EliteXC got what they wanted tonight when the ref stopped the Kimbo Slice fight prematurely but neglected to step in during round 2 when he was unable to defend himself for the last 2 minutes of the round and was pounded until the bell rang. BTW, that other guy had the nastiest looking cauliflower ear I've ever seen and I've seen some doozies. LOL...When Kimbo caught it with a right hook and it flopped around on the side of his head I couldn't contain my laughter for about 10 minutes. Absolute hilarity!!

The announcers are absolutely horrendous in this federation as well. Makes me appreciate Goldberg & Rogan that much more with the UFC.

God, that floppy ear!! From the replays, you could see Kimbo looking at it after it exploded, and he had this, "wtf, that's f'ing disgusting" look on his face, lol.

First time I've seen elitexc and I think they did a good job in promoting themselves. I was actually watching the hockey game but saw a few fights and was entertained.

Dear Master Bates, I'm not sure about that. You certainly saw the damaged done to his Cauliflower Ear ! The referee had to stop the match. Another heavy Kimbo hit might of caused permanent damage to Thompson.

I completely agree with Bates. Kimbo was getting pounded for a good minute and half at the end of round two and the ref didn't stop it. As soon as he had an opportunity in the 3rd round and Thompson was staggered he jumped in and stopped it. It may have only taken another shot or two but the ref should've let him go. A bleeding ear isn't going to deter a fighter.

Lastly, EliteXC is banking on Kimbo Slice and for him to lose would've been bad for the company.

The replays were beautiful. Kimbo's reaction was just that too. F'n funny!

Thompson had the worst ear coming into the fight that I've ever

seen and I've seen some bad one's throughout the years. That

was suspect from the get go.

Like specialK said, ref should have called in at the end of the 2nd

round for Kimbo he was on the floor get pounded and even gave

up but they ignored it.

Dont get me wrong I've been a Kimbo fan since I saw his street

videos on youtube but he cant hack it in the ring.

He's got alot to learn and not much time to do it in.

Anyone know how old he is? Looks near 40 to me
