Looking for recommendations for a good seafood restaurant

I need to find a seafood restaurant for next Thursday. I was going to go to Chez Delmo in Old Montreal, as the last time I was there the food was good, the atmosphere was perfect and the service was excellent, but unfortunately it seems they do not have an opening that evening. So I need an alternative.

Criteria:

Atmosphere - should be somewhat intimate, quiet enough to hold a conversation, private enough to feel romantic
Service - must be good; attentive and polite
Bar - full bar required
Menu - good variety of quality seafood dishes
Price - not an issue
Location - within a 15-20 minute drive from downtown

Any ideas?

Milos is always a great bet for seafood, a bit pricey but fantastic fish
Park is also an amazing fish restaurant, more of an asian and with a sushi bar, but the owner is a chef who directly imports his fish so the quality is there.

No doubt you'll enjoy all 3 mentioned, but I'd say La Sirene any day of the week. I've never been disappointed with service or food there, really a great spot.

If you have a big budget Milos is one of the best place in Montreal and Also Ferreira on Peel street close to Maisonneuve BLD.

Restaurant La Mer at the Jacques Cartier Bridge The selection of seafood is great and you can select the fish fresh from tanks if that's your thing. They have a shop also so if you want to check it out first its Ok to go in and browse.

Milos is very good but also very expensive

Faros meets all your criteria. I wouldn't look any further. My personal favorite is the Black Sea Bass (different than the Chilean) and grilled octopus, you can't go wrong. They once also had Sablefish (Alaskan black cod), ask about it, it's mindblowing good.

(Note that I do like cod (bacalhau), not everybody does(.

3) I also like La Sirène on Jean-Talon but it is out of downtown Montréal.

Perhaps a little off the beaten track, I would vote for PortusCalle on St. Laurent blv. and her wonderful chef, Helena Loureiro. In fact, she has also another retaurant in the Vieux Montreal, called Helena:

I've been to Café Ferreira, it's downtown by Peel metro. It was a fancy place and the fish was really good. I didn't know about the place and the name doesn't sound fancy but my brother picked it and he's a big foodie. It wasn't a dark kind of restaurant though. I wouldn't picture it as being romantic but it was quiet and upscale.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Once question about Milos - about the Grecian influence, just how strong is that? If someone really dislikes greek food (me!), will they be disappointed?

Café Ferreira

It's funny the number of times I walked by this place wondering about it but never trying it. I was of the understanding that it is Portuguese cuisine. One thing that should be mentioned is that the Portuguese generally cook gilled fish whole, meaning with the head and tail still on. I ordered red snapper one time in a Portuguese restaurant in Connecticut and it came whole with head and tail on and the dead fish looking up at me. I generally do not like being looked at by my dinner, so I had to behead it before I could eat it. It was pretty tasty but I was a bit freaked out that the fish was not cleaned up and dressed as I prefer.

Milos is in a class apart when it comes to seafood in Montreal IMHO, and for that reason alone it's as expensive as it is. I doubt you'll be disappointed with your service or meal there. Yes, there is a Greek flavor to it but nothing overwhelming.

Thank you for describing your Portuguese restaurant experience in Connecticut and the mention of how Portuguese generally cook their fish, which I should note is completely unrelated to Café Ferreira. I don't recall any fish heads, I just remember meeting my brother at a place that I thought would be a café and it actually being fancy and fairly expensive.

I sincerely appreciate all the suggestions, and I have taken notes - I love seafood and will definitely make sure to try a couple places, even if I end up treating myself. Thank you all for taking the time to share your recommendations.
