Since we spend 24/7 with our immediate family these days, it's mentally and physically healthy for everyone to have his/her alone time away from home. I'm sure someone can find published research papers on this topic.
Fly, I'd say, tell your family that you need alone time each week and you will take a drive by yourself 3 to 5 hours each time. Before Covid, most of us drove to work--either directly to the office or to the local train station. The alone time was good for everyone. For added authenticity, you can stop by certain scenic places and snap some photos with your phone and show the family those photos.
I've sick of being locked up at home, so I go on long dives by myself, usually on the weekends because of reduced traffic. I've also taken drives in between morning and evening rush hours on weekdays.
There are a lot of things to do still in and around Montreal while practicing social distancing. I've been watching YouTube videos of walking and driving tours in and around Montreal. There are two YouTubers from Montreal whose videos provide me with ideas on where to go when I am able to return to Montreal.
Driving and traveling in the winter is always a huge challenge.
