Mon vote va plutôt à Marie-Claude Bourbonnais (just google her...). Je sais, c'est pas très révérencieux mon post, mais bon...que voulez-vous....

What an old thread. In the last 7 years, Denis Villeneuve has propelled himself to the elite tier of Hollywood directors. Incendies got him his first Oscar nomination then following that, his career has gone only 1 way: up. He's been given iconic franchises like Blade Runner and Dune. It'd be amazing to see what he produces in the next 2 decades.

I think Jacques Villeneuve is probably still more famous than Denis (not that I think he should be, but hey)...

And William Shatner is more famous than both, outside of Quebec. He's fucking Captain Kirk man, and there is only one Captain Kirk. This thread is about worldwide popularity. You guys never saw Star Trek? TJ Hooker? Boston Legal? Twilight Zone? Never bid on Priceline after looking at the Shatner karate chop? Where have you guys been living?

Like exactly how many TV shows and movies do you have to Star in over 60 years???? And how many companies stock get completely exploded with one ad campaign based on one actor who is paid a % of stock? And got shot into space as a 90 year old?

BBC has heralded Denis Villeneuve as the Sci Fi director of this century:

The actor David Dastmalchian, who has appeared in Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049 and Dune, once told The Hollywood Reporter that Denis Villeneuve "is a genius… he's our generation's Stanley Kubrick". A tad hyperbolic, perhaps, but you can see where he's coming from. Villeneuve himself cites 2001: A Space Odyssey as a major influence on his work. But Roger Deakins sees more in common with Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky, who used science fiction as a means to tell intimate, psychologically complex stories. "One of the best science-fiction films ever made is [1972's] Solaris," he says, "It's a much more thoughtful film than 2001, because it's about character. It's not about amazing special effects." The truth is probably somewhere between the two.

"He approaches everything, first and foremost, from a place of character and theme," explains Legendary Pictures' Mary Parent, a producer on Dune. "And in science fiction, there are certainly filmmakers who approach it with an emphasis on fantastical worlds, which are incredible, but that can sometimes overwhelm everything else. But also, the authenticity of his worldbuilding is jaw-dropping. It's part of what makes his character stories so rich. It all feels incredibly real."

World-famous Montreal native William Shatner is getting launched at 10 am EST today! Everyone should say a prayer for the safe return of Captain Kirk from his truly most dangerous space voyage!

An actor, as popular as he(she) can be, will never have the same world wide popularity and exposure as an international pop music artist who has sold over 200 millions albums around the world, simple fact. Music is played every where, stores, shopping malls, elevators, etc.
