TBAY..another lost 5-2....IMHO something will happen soon there....BUT what about those CAPS....we forget about them...they play solid and serious hockey...are 10-2-3.....the best in NHL with 15 games played.

If the season ended today, Toronto and Tampa Bay wouldn’t make the playoffs as Pittsburgh and Florida would grab the wild cards. Although the Capitals would have the top seed in the East, I like Boston.

In the west, Edmonton and St. Louis tie for the top seed at the moment and Vegas is just a wild card. I still like Vegas to emerge from the west.

The two biggest disappointments so far are New Jersey and San Jose. New Jersey has a lot of new parts but I don’t know what the Sharks excuse is for being terrible with a lot of good players on their team. Sometimes teams are just collections of individual talent and usually that’s because the coaching is terrible.

Tampa Bay has been disappointing but their schedule has been road heavy to start the season. I don’t think there is any reason to panic. So far.

Well after last night's games the Leafs now would have the wild card. Montreal would be out of the playoffs, which surprises me at this time of the year since from all appearances the habs have been enjoying a successful season.

I agree that right now the Bruins appear like the team to beat in the East. But who knows with the possibility of injuries. Chara could get injured. Bergeron. Pastrnak. Marchand. Rask. It all depends on when the injury bug hits teams, as the Leafs have found out throughout this young season.

Once the likes of John Tavares & Zak Hyman return to the lineup along with recent returnee Travis Dermott who knows. Jake Muzzin may be injured but we'll see if he plays tuesday. Tavares is expected to be back in that game also. Hyman's return is still december.

I'm not worried for Tampa. I still think they're among the top 5 teams in the conference. But i am surprised that the Devils haven't been better. But i'm shocked at how badly the Sharks have performed. Same thing with Chicago. Jonathan Toews looks like a finished player. Where's Patrick Kane? It's a team with old leaders. Same problem as the Sharks.

My picks for the Stanley Cup final are Boston vs Nashville.

I've never liked the shootout. It's always a let-down after a usual great overtime period. If it's so great why don't they have it in the playoffs?

Last night's shootout only proved my point. I couldn't wait for it to end and didn't really care if the Leafs ended up winning it. It's nothing but a stunt...a skill competition. I find nothing interesting in it. I find them boring, to say the least. Get rid of the shootout!

What they should do is make some adjustments to the current overtime format. Just add a few minutes to it and if the game is still tied then award 1 point to each team and game over and go home.

I like the idea of replacing the current OT and then shootout with 3 on 3 skaters in a 5 minute overtime, plus the goalies have their sticks taken away and can only make glove saves. That will end the game with sudden death quickly.

I was reading another report on Kane which said he got on a losing streak and progressively took bigger and bigger markers out until he stopped $500,000 in the hole. I don’t gamble at Casinos but I assume the Casino only lets you go into a hole
to the extent of your line of credit? In other words the Casino stopped Kane once he was 500K in the hole because he had only 500K of credit? I am guessing Kane got pissed and said “fuck you! I have a $49 million contract with the Sharks, spot me another $500K so I can win my money back!!!!” And they said ”no.”

Maybe Kane should have bet on the Blues to go all the way?

What is obvious is Kane has a gambling problem......SHARKS will have to deal with ..and help him to work on his addiction.......

That’s what it sounds like to me as well Gaby. I assume Kane maxed out his credit with the Casino and got pissed when they didn’t give him more credit.

With the liberalization of laws regarding gambling and sports betting in the USA, I have assumed it was only a matter of time before scandals develop with sports betting. Of course I don’t know if Kane was playing cards or dice games, as opposed to sports betting, but gambling has become increasingly embraced in western nations. Kane is probably going to be a minor blip on the radar compared to what I suspect could happen down the road.

It will be interesting to see if he is compelled to get treatment. I don’t know if the NHL is also investigating the incident and could possibly take their own actions against Kane. Of course it’s a civil matter, and is not grounds for a suspension, but if a gambling problem is identified he could be compelled to undergo treatment for it.

Almost did good in my sports select ticket, picked both Edmonton games plus the Leafs loss and the rest NFL, only loss was NYG & NYJ did not tie out of 6 picks. $2 ticket would have paid $347, yes I was that sure of my picks to bet the whole $2

Don Cherry fired because he said....
“You people ... you love our way of life, you love our milk and honey, at least you can pay a couple bucks for a poppy or something like that," Cherry said, with Coach’s Corner co-host Ron McLean looking on. "These guys paid for your way of life that you enjoy in Canada, these guys paid the biggest price."

Serious.... There is already a boycott SportsNet over this.
