States in America are given police power by the US Constitution and in theory, states can decriminalize or legalize the sex trade among consenting adults, but there is no sufficient political will to do so. NOT IN MY BACKYARD sentiments should never be underestimated, particularly in the United States of America.

Commerce has a way of rearing its ugly head.

Meanwhile and time and again, a number of Members of US Congress, who often tend to the staunchest opponents of the sale of sex, have been exposed as sex customers.

The Kraft case demonstrates that men in all strata of American society pay for sex. And why shouldn't sex workers get paid for the work they do, especially since sex work is very hard work, physically and mentally, for the providers.

Perhaps Kraft can regain some of his reputation or the sheen on his reputation by donating a substantial amounts of his wealth to helping sex workers in America, regardless of their immigration status, gain safer workplaces and conditions, to help protect the personal safety of the workers and the Johns (and Janes), and to provide training for new jobs (when they decide to retire). Kraft could be "born again as a humanitarian.

Let's hope the masseuses are treated humanely by the US Justice System and are offered the opportunity to become permanent residents of America (for those ladies who do not now have any status).

It's almost always the use of the US$ and processing of payment through the US banking system that allow the US federal government (through the Treasury Department) that extend its arms and long-arms to ensnare activities that are deem unlawful by US federal laws.

As for sex work, the John (or Jane) providing the provider anything in value (bartering or exchanging services -- a mechanic fixing a prostitute's car in exchange for sex) would violate most, if not all, prostitution laws in the US, the same law intended to "protect" the consenting, adult SP (because she cannot protect herself from the boggie man).

States within the USA are allowed, by way of their police powers (protect the health and safety of their residents) to control businesses and professions (medical surgeons, commercial truck drivers and airplane pilots) through requirements for licenses.

Wealthy people are often wired to be cheap with their own monies. Perhaps Kraft was too lazy or could not claim seeing a sex worker as a business expense or tax deduction. It could be Hubris on the part of Kraft, thinking that since he's the owner of the world famous and highly successful Patriots and that he's donated $$$ to the campaigns of local politicians, he's immune from the reach of the law. (What's not discussed often in the media is that wealthy people who make huge political contributions often find ways to recuperate those donations through a combinations of tax deductions and business favoritism from the elected officials, including elected sheriffs and district attorneys.)

Good point. And most news reports I've read don't note that fact -- being a recent widow is an extremely trying condition for most. I suppose most news outlet don't focus on the Johns for fear that they would be accused of adding more fuel to the fire -- objectification and enslavement of consenting adult ladies, especially in today's USA "Me-Too" outrage movement.

Still, you think some of Kraft's trusted friends and family members would help him navigate through the money-for-sex world. Doesn't Kraft own a personal jet? If so, he could fly to a number of countries (like Germany) were prostitution is completely legal.

In any event, I would be a hypocrite if I didn't feel bad for Kraft and other Johns, who in fact were providing the ladies a better livelihood, albeit a marginal betterment as measured by the USA poverty standards.

You should always assume you're being recorded. In fact, you most certainly are pretty much anywhere, at least in entrance areas and such. The only way to avoid this is to exclusively do outcalls to a hotel or private residence.

However, if you go to a reputable place, you can be almost certain you are NOT being recorded during private time with ladies.

Robert Kraft (widowed since 2011), purportedly worth US$4.4 billions, visited The Orchids of Asia Day Spa, which has even been reviewed on Yelp, twice after being dropped off by a chauffeured vehicle, paid less than US$100 each visit. (The service must have been fantastic for him to have repeated.)

This huge sting operation is dripping with ironies. Busting the Johns seem to be the overriding motivation, not saving the purportedly enslaved sex workers from China or arresting the masterminds behind the sex trafficking ring(s) and the scumbags who are profiting from the miseries of the forced sex workers. American laws are certainly twisted; American justice system is still mired in selective enforcement.

I think we would all agree that treating the ladies like this is abhorrent and should subject the ring masters and all culprits to the greatest possible punishment under the law. If the LE's were able to obtain warrants to place cameras in the rooms, why couldn't they have busted up the human trafficking ring(s) and arrested the bad guys without the need to have Johns ensnared and parade them through the media for publicity -- ah, more headlines for the politicians.
