I don't know if you followed any of the Penguins games last year during the playoffs, but Laraque barely saw any ice time. He's an aging role player & no better. He's always been very good at his role, but now that he's reached the age of 30, he's considerably slowed down & he's got no more interest in dropping the gloves. The Penguins & most of the other teams in the NHL could have signed him for a roll of tape & a jockstrap & they passed. Mtl bit & rewarded him with a $1.5 million contract. Go figure!
(But i still feel he was a more reasonable signing than throwing away $4 million at an over-the-hill journeyman player like Robert Lang.....and giving away $5.5 million to Roman Hamrlik the previous year.)
