RG,

McLennan was $2000/hour and was profiled in the New York Times Magazine as the city's top hooker. She is not going to work in Montreal when she can go back to NYC and command 2K or more.

Regarding her comments on Spitzer's paper trail, there were some very interesting articles about exactly how Spitzer got caught in the NY Post today. He knew the banking laws re: reporting of transfers over $10,000. He tried to get around them by breaking up the transfers into smaller increments (multiple below threshold transfers). It would have worked except that he panicked at the last minute, and asked the bank (after the fact!) to take his name off the smaller transfers he had made. If he had kept his mouth shut, nothing would have happened to him and he would still be fucking Kristen. However, when he asked that his bank remove his name, his bank refused, told him the money had already been wired and it could not be done. They also immediately went to the IRS because they figured, as did everyone else, that it was a slush fund for bribe money that was being laundered through the bank. It is unknown what it was that made Spitzer panic such that he would have gone to the bank and ask that his name be taken off the transfers.

The bottom line on all this is don't be making electronic transfers that are suspicious to a bank because if you do they will report you. This is not Switzerland.

The other bottom line: LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS. Spitzer's ship has just sunk.

$4300???

If I had that kind of coin:
that's up to 22 hours of Montreal delights, with a small tip thrown in!
Unbelievable.
Devilish has 9 girls on tonight, XXXtase lists 6, girls on fire 8 ,(couldn't get to eleganza's webpage) that would pretty much burn up the same amount of cash, and in my fantasies would make for a great week in my favorite city..
I feel for the guy. ripped off, and thrown his career down the toilet, all because of hypocritical and puritanical attitudes. Merb could be a source of enlightened discussion. I'm disappointed by some of what I've read here today on this topic.
Now back to the reviews and some trip planning...

Added a Poll

Ive added a poll to the thread. There is a lot of talk here in the states about prosecuting Spitzer on federal charges. The talk is that Spitzer ran and won his governorship under a morality and ethics platform. He also as attorney general went after high profile people on wall street on morality and ethics. He also prosecuted and spoke out against prostitution. Thus the hypocrisy of his actions.

Question: Should Spitzer be prosecuted???

Julianne Moore Fumes Over Spitzer 'Embarrassment'

New York Governor Elliot Spitzer apparently won't be getting off easy with his celebrity constituents.

"A f---ing embarrassment" is how Julianne Moore, once a fan of the former attorney general, termed the politico's involvement in a prostitution ring – for which it is anticipated he will resign on Wednesday.

"I'm really pissed," the fiery New Yorker, 47, told PEOPLE during Tuesday's TSE flagship SoHo store opening. "I honestly don't care where or how people have sex, or with whom, but prostitution is illegal. For someone whose got such a reputation for having a real attitude towards crime, you have to walk the walk. I'm sorry."

Meanwhile, TV hosts were more than happy to have a new political punching bag for their monologues. For instance:

• Stephen Colbert remained deadpan on his Comedy Central Colbert Report, saying of Spitzer, "I sat next to the guy three times and I didn't pick up on any of this, and I usually have excellent whore-dar."

• "They're talking about impeaching Eliot Spitzer if he doesn't step down," said Late Show's David Letterman, "and I'm thinking, 'Whoa, a Democrat being impeached for extramarital sex. Well, happy days are here again!' "

• Spitzer, who was accused of being Client 9 for the call-girl ring, was even topic one with Late Night host Conan O'Brien, who joked, "Not surprisingly, clients 1 through 8 were Charlie Sheen."

• Finally, The View co-host Joy Behar opined, "Aren't you sick of men? Viagra is destroying our government."

Bank offical busts Spitzer

CNBC reports that a bank official sent a SAR report, suspicious activity report to the IRS for money transfers. There are more than 1Million SAR reports sent each year. Funny how they looked to investigate this one????

No doubt Spitzer made a lot of enemies on wall street and the banks....some of the most influential and powerful people on the street.

The war on sex in the U.S. will likely be as unsuccessful as the war on drugs but the new laws targeting demand will still bring down a lot of people. The war on free speech is just warming up. The war on privacy has already been more successful than the others.

I don't ever use illegal drugs, but I do like sex, my privacy, and free speech. Time to move to a more civilized place?

And a final note, how come McGreevey & Spitzer have been forced to resign but Craig and Vitters haven't?

The "war on sex" might have its flaws, but going after international crime syndicates that use prostitution to launder money has its merits, especially when it involves human trafficking and child sex slaves. These are often interconnected crimes and not every SP is a free and willing participant. Spitzer pretended to be doing this while he was breaking the same laws, so it's not quite the same as banging the secretary after hours.

And the war on sex (drugs, whatever) isn't being "lost" unless you define winning as complete elimination of the problem. After all, we (and you, wherever you are) still have plenty of incidents of murder, rape, burglary, etc. but just because we can't eliminate the problem entirely that doesn't mean we throw our hands up and legalize the act. Has Canada legalized drugs?

For a good depiction of the dark side of the profession, rent the DVD movie "Trade." It'll make you think, as well as hoping most of the SP agencies in Montreal are on the up and up.

As for McGreevy and Spitzer, they were not forced to resign any more than Craig and Vitters. I sense you think Democrats are more likely to be forced into resignation, but if you do your research, you'll find it's usually the other way around, with Republicans being the first to resign (Livingston, Foley (he didn't even have any sex!) and Packwood), while Dems do so only out of threat of jail time or actual convictions (Trafficant, Rostenkowski, Jim Wright) and they almost never resign for sex scandal reasons (Gerry Studds, Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy). Nice try though.

I suppose if Spitzer was a republican, members here would be saying things like “Hey, this guy is responsible for trying to shut down my hobby”. You liberals really crack me up. Geraldine Ferraro's balls are bigger than all of yours!!!!

And not one SP defending her bizzzzzz.

I'm a New Yorker.

The reason Spitzer got reamed like this has to do with 2 things:

1) His image as Mr. Clean tough cop

2) His extreme personal arrogance

In fact, when he got elected in a landslide he told the Republican house majority leader not to get in his way because he's a fucking steamroller.

Which leads to this hilarious blog entry way before the scandal broke

Basically, the Fucking Steamroller pissed off way too many people (not just Republicans) on his way up and they're all lining up to kick him on the way down (especially Wall Street types).

Full Disclosure: I'm a registered Democrat and I voted for Obama in the primary.

That is true...we havt heard anything from the Escort community in Montreal.

It would be interesting to hear their points of view.

We're probably in for another price hike with people reading rates of $1000 to $5000 an hour! ....I'm sure the SP's in montreal feel underpaid after reading about Spitzer.

Banger,

I explained exactly why the bank set a SAR report on Spitzer's transfers and why they were investigated. The SAR report was based on what Spitzer said to the bank after the transfers were made. The SAR report was not based on the transfers themselves but on what he said to them. If he kept his mouth shut he would still be governor, and would still be fucking Kristen.

EB, have you ever considered a career as a top political aide? Better yet, become a high priced consultant specializing in personal privacy for public figures.:D

EB,

I read your post. But the IRS receives over 1 million SAR reports from financial instutions of suspicious activity a year. Unless they are doing searches of particular individuals, what % of these you think they investigate?

Is Spitzer just unlucky???

Fucking Spitzer did not have to go down like this. Man, Montreal is just a 3 hour drive from Albany. He could have easily taken off on weekends and told his wife he was going skiing with the boys at Mount Tremblant. He did not do his research!!!!!!:(

Maybe someone in US media might be reading this board: the AP piece on Yahoo shows him at a ski resort. I didn't think very much about it, but then there must be thousands of other clips they could have used....

I would like to know if the SP was a Spitzer or a Swallower?

For that much money she better shawllows and bring a friend to share. (Snowball :D ) He got it all wrong what he should have done was take a quick trip to beloved MTL book a room and take care of business with an indy. The amount of cash that he spend he can have 2 or 3 indies and then some. This way there is no exposure on his part. How many Canadians know who he is or really care. ? The best part of it is he didn't break any laws and continue to get his freaks on. It is a victimless crime but American are so hard up on the moralities issue that they have all become closet sex freaks. Let's get real if prostitution is legal in the U.S the divorce rates would cut in half and half of the guys would not even bother with getting married. The married institution as we know it would not exist.

No, he is stupid. Not for not knowing the banking laws. He did, and he set up several transfers to evade the reporting requirements. He is stupid for going back to the bank after the transfers were made and asking them to remove his name from them. They know he is governor. How can you be fucking Governor of NY, walk into your bank, make a bunch of transfers for large sums of money, then ask them to remove your name and not expect them to be suspicious about the transfers? He set himself up to look like a guy who was laundering bribe money. What else was the bank to think given his demands? That is why the SAR was issued. And of course the bank was wrong - the money was Spitzer's and it wasn't being laundered at all. It was going to his private slush fund for Kristen.

Had he kept his mouth shut, no SAR would have issued.

The NY Post is also reporting that in the hour before Kristen arrived at room 871 of the Mayflower, Spitzer went down to the Mayflower Hotel bar and asked 8 of his aides if they had a CD of classical music. He said he needed it to "focus" and "relax" so he could work late into the night. This of course was a double ruse: he wanted the CD for the sex with Kristen, but he also wanted to concoct, in advance, an excuse for not being with the aides and for being unavailable the rest of the night.

In some ways, I admire Spitzer for his creativity in his philandering. He got away with this for a long time and fooled many people. I always admired him as Attorney General, and the truth is that he beat Connecticut's AG in Court in a big case, and our AG is one of the best. Spizter is a very smart and talented man, but he got too cocky, fucked up with the money transfers and blew it.

Don't feel sorry for him. He is a talented attorney, a gifted fund raiser and he will make more money out of politics than in. I guarantee this. I believe that he got off on all of the chicanery he needed to pull off to get away with hobbying on the job, and he will miss the thrill of pulling stunts like what he did with Kristen in order to avoid getting caught. But NY does not really need a stuntman as governor.
