Since they couldn't do it with skill - no big surprise since they don't have any skill - they decided to use cheap shots to take out a good player (Fisher) and a great player (Alfredsson).

Once again you're saying your usual nonsense & didn't watch the game. Fisher's was already playing with a damaged knee last night & he simply re-injured it on a fluke play (i don't even think anyone hit him). As for Alfredsson's hit, it was a legal shoulder hit by Bell....the refs agreed on this, the replays showed it was, and there will not be any suspension nor did the Senators ask the league to review the play. It was no different than Stevens' hit on Lindros several years ago, among other devastating hits of his. The league and its GMs want those shoulder hits to the head.....every year at the GM meetings it's back on the agenda, but nothing is done about it. The problem isn't the hits themselves, but the equipment (shoulder & elbow pads) that the players are playing with today. They're like cement.

You should watch a hockey game one of these days, JC....you might actually like it!

it sucks when your team (the Leafs) doesn't make the playoffs ... so you find consolation in the fact that Toronto was able to get away with cheap shots against a team that happened to be in post season contention - I guess that makes up for your team not making it to the playoffs :(

1967 FOREVER !!! THE LEAFS SUCK - GO HABS GO !!!

Welcome back, Doc # 1! (In case you can't remember some of your multiple personalities, # 1 is the Doc who loves the Leafs, hates the Habs and "guaranteed" the Leafs would make the playoffs. # 2 is the cowardly turncoat who abandoned his beloved Leafs, belatedly jumped on the Habs bandwagon and deleted as many of his hockey posts as possible in order to destroy the evidence.)

I do watch hockey Doc # 1. That's how I know that the Leafs suck and that Bell is a headhunter. Golly gee, I think Fisher, Spezza and a lot of other people agree. Alfredsson of course is the epitome of class and says it was his responsibility to be aware of his surroundings. Just imagine Darcy Tucker or any of the other pukes on the Leafs acting with such class if tables were turned. Oh, and Doc # 1, do you think Mark Bell will also be a headhunter when he goes to jail?

Habs currently in 1st......

MONTREAL (AP) -Chris Higgins scored twice and Mark Streit had a goal and an assist as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1 Saturday night to finish their schedule atop the Eastern Conference.

Montreal completed the regular season with a 47-25-10 record for 104 points , two more than second-place Pittsburgh, which plays its final game Sunday at Philadelphia.

The Canadiens will claim their first conference title in 19 years if the Penguins, who also have 47 wins, lose to the Flyers.

Regardless of whether they finish first or second overall in the East, Montreal will face Boston in the opening round of the playoffs as a result of the Bruins' 3-0 loss to Buffalo.

The Canadiens will host the series opener Thursday at the Bell Centre.

A win by the Flyers over Pittsburgh and they move up to sixth place and face Washington.

I don't think anyone sould be too eager to face Philly... because it will be a very physical series and they are fairly healthy with Hatcher and Briere expected to be ready for the start of the playoffs, the only player that is hurt is Gagne (who missed pretty much the whole season). It's the healthiest they've been all year.

In any case...
Montreal will face Boston.
Pittsburgh will face either Philadelphia or Ottawa in round one
NJ plays NYR (todays game will determine home ice advantage)
Washington will face either Ottawa or Philadelphia

I don't think anyone is buying what you're shoveling

fickle and fair weather Leaf fans are quick to abandon their team and jump on a rival's bandwagon - no wonder there are no real hockey fans in Toronto! If the situation were reversed, Habs fans would never do the same.

Toronto Maple Leafs: a classless organization with no past, no present and no future

Speaking of classless... this response is about as classless as any I've seen, but I'm not surprised given who it's coming from.

Hey, i've been a Habs fan since the late 70's/early 80's, back in the days of Guy-Guy-Guy, Steve Shutt & Big Bird, Pointu & later with Steve Penny, Mike McPhee & co. I only became a Leafs fan a decade later when i moved to Toronto. I like both teams, with a slight edge going to the Leafs. But i'm happy as hell for the Habs & picking them to possibly win the Cup. I can't wait to spend the next couple of months in the great city of Mtl to follow their exploits throughout the Stanley Cup playoffs. Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!! :D

2008 NHL Draft - Lottery Winners

The 2008 NHL Draft Lottery was held tonight.
Here are the Results:
1st Pick - TBAY
2nd - LAK
3rd - ATL
4th - STL
5th - NYI
6th - CBJ
**********
Other Picks
7th - TOR
8th - PHO
9th - NASH
10th - VAN

SO, will TBAY take Steven Stamkos ....

"In a field chock full of qualified defensemen, the likely first overall choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft on June 20 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa may well be a forward, namely Steven Stamkos of the Ontario Hockey League's Sarnia Sting.

"I want to get drafted as high as possible, but just getting drafted is a tremendous honor," Stamkos said. "Getting drafted is more like a bragging right. Once you get to camp, then everyone's on an even playing field and you're playing for a job. You can be a fourth-rounder, but if you outplay the first-rounder, they're going to take you."

Stamkos (6-foot, 183 pounds) isn't just good, he's ridiculously good. He was recognized as the finest stickhandler and the player with the best shot in the OHL's annual Coaches Poll. In fact, the 18-year-old native of Scarborough, Ontario, has already perfected some of hockey's most electrifying maneuvers.

His spectacular behind-the-legs breakaway goal during the OHL Skills Competition on Feb. 5 has been viewed by more than 100,000 people on YouTube. There's also the awe-inspiring lacrosse move where the puck attaches to his stick like Velcro, enabling him to wield the disk in any direction. Tack on the trusty spin-o-rama and "flick and bat” for good measure and Stamkos is a bona fide fan favorite in the making. That said, he prefers discussing team goals in favor of personal accomplishments, another critical trait that has pro scouts drooling."

How the hell could Nashville get the 9th pick when they're already in the playoffs? Where's Florida & Edmonton? Where did you get this stuff?

Edmonton lost their pick to Anaheim for signing Dustin Penner.

Believe Nashville received Florida's pick in the Vokoun trade.

Hip hip hooray for the Red Wings - classiest organization, best owner and best scouting system in the NHL - the complete polar opposite of the Toronto Maple Laughs.
