The first had Tomas Kaberle going to Philadelphia -- this was one was written up at the league office and awaiting appropal -- in exchange for Jeff Carter and the Flyers' first round pick.

From a Flyers perspective:
I'm glad Kaberle wouldn't wave his no-trade clause. Carter has been one of the few bright spots for the Flyers since the trade deadline. He's a restricted group II free agent come July if the Flyers don't resign him but I'd rather take the 3 - 4 first round picks... any less than that and the Flyers will match the contract.

I'm not sure why the HABS would want Sundin. He would seem a bit slow for the type of game the Canadians play and he isn't very defensive minded.

The Habs have only a bunch of Smurfs as centremen. They need size up the middle. Not very defensive minded? He's their best defensive player & he's always killing penalties.

So, how are YOUR Leafs doing these days? :D In an attempt to destroy any incriminating evidence, you’ve gone back and deleted your many anti Habs / pro Leaf posts in this thread

I'm a Habs fan. I'm also a Leafs fan. I'll be at their game next week & i'll have to flip a coin prior to the game to see whom i'll cheer for.

As for destroying incriminating evidence & going back to delete posts, not accurate. I've always gone back to delete posts after they've been posted in any thread for a while. Try to find one of my hundreds of sp reviews. You won't succeed. I've probably got over 5000+ posts in total on this board, but i've kept the total indicated (around 2000) on purpose, which i've explained already in another thread.

Go Habs go, Go Leafs go!! :D

He should change his handle from Doc Holliday to Richard Nixon (or Judas Iscariot) - it would be more accurate. Meanwhile those of us who have followed the thread remember it all - including his "guarantee" that the Leafs would make the playoffs - but of course that was before he jumped ship and climbed on the Montreal bandwagon.

And here's the biggest irony: his beloved (if inept) Leafs have actually done a hell of a lot better since Doc became a turncoat. The problem is that they were mired in such deep shit during the time he was their # 1 fan that they couldn't climb out of the cesspool. Maybe if Doc had abandoned them at the START of the season they'd be Cup contenders!

Here's one you should have deleted.

And yes, i believe that Samsonov is over-the-hill even for his age....and i do believe that Jason Blake is a late bloomer & still has 3-4 good productive seasons ahead of him. Samsonov likely won't be in the NHL by year's end.

Stats since the post.

Samsonov: 12G + 15A = 27 Points in 33 games

Blake: 8G + 16A = 24 Points in 43 games playing with Sundin.

PS. I won't even mention their salaries. :D

I did predict that the Habs were ruining Samsonov last year with their boring defensive style. At least they've improved in this category this year. Samsonov would now look great in their lineup. He's re-discovered his game in Carolina......good for him......i've met him on a few occasions & he's a good guy.

As for Blake..i'm sorry to say that he hasn't played on Sundin's line all season....Sundin plays between Pony & Antropov. They don't even play together on the PP. I still like his game, though....his stats should improve next year as a member of the Laffs unless his contract is bought out.

My pick for the Jack Adams? The great Guy Carbonneau! Guy! Guy! Guy! :D

Don't be sorry Doc, just be sure of what you post. ;) They played together at the start of the season (can't say with who) and then again in January on a line with Alex Steen but for how long I couldn't say.

I've seen every Leafs game (same with the Habs) and i don't recall Blakie ever playing with Sundin ever except for the odd shift where Sundin was double-shifted, killing penalties or on the powerplay. Blake's been playing mostly on the 2nd & 3rd lines all season long, most of the time with Matt Stajan as his centerman. Sundin's spot is between Pony & Antropov, and sometimes with Steen when Pony was injured. So posting that Blake's been unproductive even though he's played on the same line as Sundin is a stretch. Some might even call it a lie.

a big night for AK27 as the Habs move back into first place !! :D

Don't get too excited as they've played two more games than the Devils and only lead by 1 point... The Devils play the Islanders tonight...

But thanks for beating Boston... I hope you do it again tomorrow!

Go Habs Go

I'll be pulling for the HABS tonight against Boston as you could help my happless Flyers (who can't seem to hold a lead in the third period) stay in 7th place in the East by beating Boston tonight. Please win in regulation.

Flyers are giving me heart failure... by giving up a two goal lead to the Rangers last night before finally winning a shoot out against the Rangers (Flyers are 2-6 for the season in SO). The Flyers dominated the game only to collapse again in the final 8 minutes of the game, giving the Rangers a point. Two of the Ranger goals came off Flyer defensmen... Talk about some bad bounces!!! To top it off... Hartnell bounces a breakaway off the post after beating the goaltender... in any case... I'll take the win but...

For the record... I still HATE the shoot out!!!

New Jersey versus Pittsburgh is another big game as both teams are tied with 91 points. I don't care who wins this one as long as it finishes in regulation.

Ottawa needs a win angainst Toronto tonight to keep pace with and pressure on Montreal... this division (just like the Atlantic) will come down to the wire and there is a big differance finsihing 1 or 2 than 4 or 5.

after back to back wins against Boston and Ottawa, Montreal now leads the conference! :D

what about all the so called experts that picked the Habs to miss the playoffs and the Leafs to be in ?

Congratulations on clinching a playoff spot...

it was a big night for my Flyers as well... beating the Rangers in OT while NJ, Buffalo, Toronto, and Florida, all lost. Friday night will be a huge game for the Flyers as they face the Devils who sit 3 points ahead of the Flyers (but I do realize NJ has a game at hand as do the Rangers). On the upside the Rangers and Devils play each other Thursday night so one of them will lose (hopefully in regulation).

Question: Which well-known hockey expert (chuckle) posted these words a few short months ago? "I still guarantee that the Maple Leafs will finish higher than the Habs in the standings come the end of the year. I know it's not saying much, but the Leafs will at least make the playoffs."

Answer: Doc Holliday. It appears he has deleted his post (wonder why?) but fortunately I quoted it in my post (# 281) so his immortal prediction has been preserved for history.

Now it's no big deal that he got it wrong. We all make mistakes. What I'm wondering about, though, is that word "guarantee" that he used. Hmm? The lesson here seems to be that a guarantee from The Leopard Man ain't worth squat.

Yes, it appears that certain Leaf fans - who have been dumping all over the Habs and praising Toronto since the start of the season - are now jumping on the Montreal bandwagon … even claiming to have been Habs fans from the beginning - yeah right!

I've been holding off on getting too excited about the habs this year given so many disappointing years in recent memory. However, this is more exciting than a duo with Karyna and Emmanuelle from Eleganza - well maybe not that exciting ::)) but you get the point. In fact I haven't been this excited about the Canadiens since they had Roy as a goalie.

There seems a decent chance they can win the Eastern conference title - I think 3 more wins will be sufficient given Ottawa's and Pittsburg's remaining schedules. I'd like to see Montreal play Boston in the first round.

What's also amazing is that Montreal is poised to finish the year with the highest number of goals in the league - remarkable given the complaints about their lack of firepower. I also think that Gainey's move to make Price the number one goalie was also a great move as he's proving to be an excellent goalie.

Now if only I could get tickets...

BTW - I'm so happy to see Toronto getting exactly what they deserve.
