still sticking to that guarantee? :D

What can i say. The Leafs under-performed & the Habs over-performed this season. Injuries didn`t help the Leafs, while the Habs didn`t have any injuries to their top players all season long.

However, i`m still sticking to my prediction that the Habs will make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. Go Habs!

Quite true that the Habs over-performed.

Quite false that the Leafs under-performed. They`re a shitty team and their performance has been shitty. If anything, they`ve OVER-performed by actually winning the occasional game. Of course, it has helped greatly that Andrew Raycroft has been WATCHING rather than playing - just imagine how much worse they`d be doing if they had let him occupy netspace for the last few weeks.

Why only bragging when the Habs win?

SO the mighty HABS come up lame and the bragging stops... Looks like the Penguins sit atop the EAST (for) now... but both have played one more game the NJ and only have one more point. The way things are looking right now the 6th seed is what everyone should be shooting for so they get Carolina in round one!!!

You mean like this:

"I'm a huge Habs fan! They lost! Yesssssss! They LOSTTTTTTTTT!
That's awesome! Yipeeeeeee! I hope they lose their next game too!
They're gonna win the cup!"

Bingo... and I hope you get your wish regarding the next game!!!

but... what I was really refering to is the lack of reality in this thread. HABS win and there are a bunch of entries about how great they are (and how sad Toronto is) but they get pasted by San Jose and not a single entry about how poorly they played. I honestly don't see "the Habs" getting out of the first round unless they face Carolina. The Habs have two relatively easy games coming up with Phoenix and LA but then they play Anaheim, and after that it gets even more difficult. All of the teams they face are contending for a playoff spot. They also play Toronto twice and while they are 3-3 against Toronto three of those games went to OT and one was a shoot out win. The "great" HABS only beat Toronto once in regulation, once in OT, and then in that joke called a shootout. They lost twice in regulation in once in OT. So how bad is Toronto??? It will be a tough month for the HABS but then all winning streaks come to an end, just ask Boston!

You're just jealous of the Habs and bitter and frustrated because the Flyers have been blowing chunks lately - only two wins in their last 10 games and a 5-2 pasting by Buffalo tonight leaves Philly barely hanging on to 8th place with the Sabres just one point behind :D

You want a dose of realism, ok here it is:

1. They lost 6-4, that's hardly (as someone else suggested) getting pasted. Bottomline is Price was awful, the PP was awful and the Habs still managed to stay close by scoring 4 against the 2nd best defense in the league.

2. 35-18-8, that's the Habs record in their conference. Check out the other top 7 team records. I can't fathom by what logic you come to the conclusion that they would only come out of the 1st round if they played Carolina...

3. What does the Habs being 3-3 against Toronto prove? Nothing. Washington beat Ottawa 4 times, the Islanders beat the Devils 4 times... Shit happens in sports, and sometimes a superior team has problems against a particular team, even if "by the numbers" they should be winning.

Actually, the differance is that when the Flyers were sitting number one in the EAST prior to their ten game slump, I wasn't shooting my mouth off about how great they were and how other teams suck. 82 games is a long season but folks in this thread who blead red and blue don't seem to understand that. The HABS are a couple of points from 5th place and on 7 points from 8th. The HABS are two points ahead of Ottawa with a game at hand but the Ottawa has already played Anaheim and the HABS have not. I believe that Ottawa will overtake Montreal for the division lead which puts the HABS in a tough playoff spot.

Injuries have plagued the Flyers all season but they are now 4-1-1 in their last six, even without 4 of their starters in the lineup.

Price is all you have since HAB management trade Huet. I guess you better hope this was just a one game skid for Price.

Well Price looked pretty good last night, stopping 37 of 39 shots in another impressive Montreal road win. Meanwhile, the Flyers just get by with a lucky win over Tampa, the worst team in the NHL! In fact, Philly's goaltending hasn't been very good all season, both Biron and Nittymaki's goal against average is probably somewhere close to 3!

Who gives a rats ass where you were in the standing 10 games ago - its where you finish at the end of the regular season that matters! and the way the over rated Flyers are playing these days, they'll be lucky to squeak in 8th place!

With regard to the standings, you made my point for me as the HABS still have 14 games left before the seading for the playoffs are decided. A lot can happen in 14 games. The fact is that anybody can beat anybody on any given night in this league.

The Flyers are 4-1-1 these days and the same number of points out of 6th place as they are holding over Buffalo for 8th place (which is 3).

It took NJ overtime to beat that same team the Flyers were lucky to beat and NJ is in first place in the EAST now!

OK - impressive road win against the 10th place Phoenix Coyotes!!!

Refer to my previous post regard Eastern Conferance leading Devils needing overtime to beat Tampa Bay, even though Tampa played last night and NJ had the night off.

No argument with regard to the Flyers goaltending being subpar... but Price's numbers are worse than Biron. All three seem to be inconsistant. It's the same problem that Ottawa has.

AHHH yes... the old trash em because he doesn't agree with your point regarding how great the HABS are mentality!!!

You really should rename this thread from "The Official 2007-2008 NHL Thread" to "The 2007-2008 praise the HABS trash eveyone else thread"... then I'll refrain from posting in it!!! :)

I'm just pointing out that most HABS fans posting in this thread are not being very objective... I never stated the Flyers were cup contenders as you don't go from last to first in one year. I don't think you go from watching the playoffs to cup contender in one year either, especially when you have a rookie goaltender. The Flyers have been very competitive this season and if they get healthy could cause some problems for whoever they may face in round one (if they get there). Six of the Flyers loses have been shootout loses with only 1 shootout win. REALITY HURTS

If you want to be objective picture the HABS without Kovalev for 43 games, then tell me where you think they be in the standings!
