Yet another dismal performance by the worst franchise in sports as the hopeless Leafs lost 5-0 to the Blue Jackets.

To preserve the dignity of the National Hockey League, the Leafs really should be kicked out and a replacement franchise should be awarded to some other city...ANY other city! It could be Quebec, Hamilton, Vegas...or anywhere else. Just get rid of this EMBARRASSMENT to both the sport and the nation.

Last season a Leaf supporter predicted on this board that the Wings would miss the playoffs for the next 5 seasons. Well, they DIDN'T miss last season and they just clinched a spot tonight so they DIDN'T miss THIS season, which means that our would-be-Nostradamus is already 0 for 2.

To compensate however his LEAFS did miss the playoffs in both of those seasons...and will likely continue to do so for years.

Wings have now made the playoffs the last 24 CONSECUTIVE SEASONS.

The Leafs meanwhile have made the playoffs exactly ONCE in over a decade.

The Wings have won 4 Cups since 1967; the Leafs have not even made it to the Finals since 1967, in fact the Leafs have NEVER won more than 2 rounds in a playoff year.

Leaf supporters enjoy saying that Toronto is "the hockey capital of the universe".

Give them credit: They ALMOST have it right.

They just have to change ONE word to correct it. It SHOULD be: Toronto is "the hockey cesspool of the universe".

When I heard that Colton Orr was being brought up, it just did not surprise me, one bit.

They talked about changing the culture of the team at the start of the season and the last game of the LOSING

season, they do this.

I pity the young hockey player who will be drafted by the leafs. I can see someone nudging him and whispering in his ear

On another note, The Pylon was asked if he was embarrassed by the 5 nothing loss to Carolina and he asked the reporter

" Have you played sports before ? " First, you don't answer a question with a question, period.

Secondly, every kid has played A sport. DUMB question and answer, Pylon.

If I were the reporter, my answer would have been.." No, I am a reporter and I am doing MY JOB. Can you say that about yourself.

The attitude, culture, team and future has never looked so dismal.

HEY...on a positive note, congratulations to the Red Wings on making the playoffs for the 24th consecutive year !!!

Price looked tyred those last games ! But now he has the 43e victory with the worst team compared to Plante and Dryden he can relax ! The suprise for me is Petry who was minus 30 with the Oilers and now he has 6 point in 6 games ..... Eller is a playoff player thats great because Max Pac is not comming back for at least the fith game against who ever . The road to the cup starts after that unusefull game against the Leafs.... If I where the coach I would play all my b players not to risk any injury .....

Earlier this season a Leaf supporter here stated that the Leafs and the Wings were at about the same level.

I did not share that viewpoint and gave several factual reasons why.

I won't bother repeating those but I will post some end-of-season facts to compare the 2 squads:

Detroit 12th in the league, made playoffs (24th consecutive season)

Toronto 27th in the league, failed (as usual) to make playoffs (made them only once in over a decade)

Detroit 100 points, Toronto 68 points

Detroit goal differential plus 14, Toronto goal differential minus 51

Case closed.

2014-2015 Season and a View on the Kessel "Robbery" Committed by Burke a Few Years Ago

Kessel 82 games played, 25 goals, 36 assists, 61 points, MINUS 34, 40% on his rare faceoffs

Seguin 71 games played, 37 goals, 40 assists, 77 points, MINUS 1, 53.8% on faceoffs

Obviously Seguin is already a far better player, has been a far better player for AT LEAST the past 2 seasons, is younger, and has a FAR, FAR brighter future.

But of course Leaflovers will try to defend Burke's "robbery" (ha ha) of the Bruins by saying that Seguin is no longer with Boston.

Quite true...but Loui Eriksson and Dougie Hamilton ARE with Boston, so let's see how THEIR combined numbers compare to Kessels's:

Loui 81 games played, 22 goals, 25 assists, 47 points, PLUS 1....and add that to Dougie's 72 games played, 10 goals, 32 assists, 42 points (Dougie is a D-man), MINUS 3

Conclusion: I think we can all see why Brian was NOT arrested for "robbery" in the Kessel trade - Poor Brian was not the thief, he was the VICTIM!
