Last week the gas prices shot up to $1.14 a liter. Today the gas prices went down to $1.03.9 The gas spread is usually about 9 cents a liter, but the prices last week went up more than other weeks so it may go below the $1.03.9 mark. I bought my gas for the week at $1.03.9, it may go a cent or two lower but I will stick to the 9 cent spread. I save $6 - $9 each week by buying early in the week at the low end of the 9 cent spread. Savings add up at the end of the year, when was the last time someone gave you $300 - $500 free?

Henry,
Not sure if you follow the currency trading markets vs oil prices.
Historically in the spring the price of gas/oil shoot up. (Value of U.S. Dollar drops price of Canadian dollar rises) Look for the reverse trend in August.

Buy early in the week Monday or Tuesday. 1.03$/liter seems to be the low point right now, don't expect anything lower than that.

I have been using the 8/10 cent method for a while and it works fine. If the low price of gas is under a dollar then go with the 8 cent spread, if the low price of gas like today is over a dollar ( $1.02.9) the go with the 10 cent spread. For example, if the price shoots up to $1.14 you can expect the next low price will be about $1.03.9. Stick to this method, it works 95% of the time. If you miss the low and need gas, buy as little as you can at the high price, the price drops quickly. you might only catch half the savings that week, but it all adds up. The average motorist can save $400 - $600 a year, over 5 years that would be a free vacation.
