SL has stated his reason for the expose; The purpose of this Expose is to uncover the myths and truths about the sex industry in Montreal.

I accept that. I was wondering if each of you would feel comfortable suggesting a reason that he wants to do this. It's obviously a lot of work. I've put my mind to that question and haven't really come up with an answer that would explain everything.

I think Techman is likely right about a possible source for addresses... SL had mine in any event and I don't object to him writing me (haven't checked yet, I get so much spam in that account now) but if someone wanted off his list I don't understand why he wouldn't acoomodate that person. When he wanted to be left alone by his friends and separate himself from the boards I certainly honoured his wishes and stopped trying to contact him.

Techman's answer to this post cannot be improved on. Let SL have his say and then members will comment as necessary and appropriate.

Oh, ok. I guess he's putting it out because he always said he was going to. He's always been a man of his word.

As for his motives for writing it in the first place, who knows. Why does anyone write their experiences down? There are probably as many reasons as there are people who have written memoires. Share their experiences...set the record straight...to entertain...to inform...all of the above? Take your pick I guess.

Agreed! It will be what it will be. Interesting though, when you think about it that controversy is the best publicity. SL got a very extensive publicity campaign and it didn't cost him a cent. You just have to appreciate and admire the economics of the whole thing whether he orchestrated this all or not. I wonder if he sent those e-mails knowing full well that one of them would bear this kind of fruit. Few will remember the details of what was said here but they will know that this piece of work must be a "must read." Kinda makes one think....................

I wonder if he believes (right or wrong) that some day it will become a royalty endeavour? In any event I am sure it will play exactly as it should. Things have a way of surviving or not surviving based on merit.

Certainly no argument with this....

I'm almost 100% certain SL wouldn't reveal names... identifying events however can also identify people... it will be interesting to see how it is handled. If you expose boards how can you guard their anonymity eg "Two such boards in Montreal, which I won't name..."

But 2 questions re naming names and Mod8's post:

1. given the stated sanctity of PM's how could a transgression lead to "an instant ban."

2. if the receiver of a transgressing PM didn't keep it secret would he be banned too?

To answer your original statement about motivation, I am only speculating here but I would imagine that there are many threads where a dispute is in progress and some members feel uncomfortable about being forced into an untenable position because there might be a conflict of loyalties. It might also happen that a member might be concerned with repercussions. Though this scenario did not come up in conversation. I am very grateful and touched that someone cared enough and took the time to keep me from overreacting to a situation which in retrospect I gave more attention to than it deserved.

Well, 70 posts and counting, before this one. It's amazing. What a waste for the rest of us to indulge this thread. If the so-called expose was a collection of people giving their own personal stories it could be interesting. But calling it an expose means collecting material on others. How is this accomplished? Other than gleaning the boards for information already published, there would be interviews, and the backdoor trading of private board member communications and emails. He cultivated a lot of friends and created many trusts, enough trust for many to give him their email addresses. Then he uses the same friends, acquaintances, and addresses to build his "expose", deciding along the way which friends or acquaintances who trusted him to gather information from or to expose. So, in total the stories are all either known, hearsay, or betrayed. This is what we are spending our time speculating on. Nuts. Do you really want to give credence to someone who cultivates relationships to use them. I wasn't even one of those and he still tried to use me. Yeah, a lot more attention than it deserves.

What a sad waste of time, what a sad waste of one's life focussing on writing a book based on something as insignificant as the Montreal's sex scene (not even facts but pure knitting of hearsays and self made conclusions) for only a few undred people might read (ok, maybe a thousand...). Personaly, I believe this has either to do with a huge need of attention on the part of the writer or an obsessive need of vengeance which in any case is not the sign of a well balanced self.

There will be no book; there will be no expose. SL will go into hiding for another two years and then in 2011 will announce once again that he is releasing his unwritten tell-all expose.

Sort of like the merchant advertising his 35th annual going out of business sale...
