To make things worse, the only place that Trump is planning to withdraw US troops from, is Germany! Maybe he’s afraid that US troops might die of too much bier & FKK.

Combined economical power of European Union is larger than US and the military technology is on par. Why US continues spending billions on troops in Germany? If they are not willing to spend $$ on defense they should pay US for these troops. Under the umbrella of US military might and economic help Europe, Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan etc. became prosperous industrialized countries and strong competitors to US in all markets. Do they pay back when US needed help (Vietnam, Middle East, etc.) or did they support US industry? Very little and most with a lip service often even criticizing US. It was US blood and money that provided protection against the communist block and policing the whole world helping them to became prosperous when they were in ruins after WWII. So, what again is the reason for US to keep troops in Germany? I understand that FKK is a big attraction, but I would prefer having these fine establishments at home with European girls because they would have much higher pay here than at home if this country will choose the right course.

It seems that in the post-truth era there is a lot of misinformation.
1) Germany does pay for US military protection, but not 100% of the costs. I don't know if it is an opening bargaining postion, but Trump is asking for 150% of the costs.
2) When Trump withdrew troops and abandoned the Kurds and US bases in Northern Syria (by an amazing coincidence he has hotels in Instambul and had just been on the phone with Turkey's Erdogan), he actually increased the total number of soldiers in the Middle East. Those in Syria were sent to Iraq, not home.
3) The US is an oligarchy ruled by big business and special interest groups. There is not a ghost of a chance of being nominated as a presidential candidate and very little chance of becoming a Senator if one's policies displease them. As only one example, even though the vast majority of Americans favor more restrictions on access to weapons, the NRA effectively blocks them. The oil companies in particular have an interest in maintaining stability in the Middle East. It would be political suicide for Trump to truly abandon the region. Don't forget the Evangelicals who are strong supporters of Israel.

So why you than prefer oligarchs associated with democrats? Are they on a “right side”? :)

General Soleimani could not be reached for comment.

Trump’s reckless order to kill Soleimani (the second most powerful man in Iran) led to the Iranian missile attack that injured US troops.

Let’s go thru the sequence of events:

2018-2019: Trump unilaterally withdraws US from nuclear agreement w/ Iran despite opposition from our European allies. Iran begins enriching uranium again + harrassing oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz + using proxies to attack Saudi oil facillities

3 Jan 2020 - Soleimani killed by US drone attack

8 Jan 2020 - Iranian missiles r launched at US military base injuring 100+ US soldiers (This marks the first time ever that Iran has directly attacked a US military base)

22 Jan 2020 - Trump claims that the injured US soldiers suffered from headaches ... not very serious. No need to retaliate against Iran, can we start talking again??!!

Reality Check - 100+ US soldiers suffered traumatic brain injuries. No such thing as a mild brain injury unless one doesn’t use his/her brain like Trump!

Before you talk about serious things do at least some very basic research.

Brain injury inflicted by the blast wave is extremely difficult to diagnose and to verify. To get the brain injury from the reflected blast wave while in a shelter where there is no direct path for the blast is very unlikely. I suspect that there is probably only a small percent that had some real injury if any among these 100. Guys simply used it as an excuse to get out of this hell hole for "inspection" in Germany.

As for Soleimani , he was the head for Republican Guards external operations branch, organization officially designated by US as a terrorist. He was killed while on inspection of these operations in Lebanon and Iraq. It is not a secret that Iran is behind majority of attacks against US troops in Iraq. Under his guidance 2 US bases were shelled a couple weeks before and several US soldiers were killed and injured. Whoever mourns this bloody bastard has either no clue or considers his enterprise legitimate and therefore is not a friend of US. It was a brilliant operation without any civilian casualties.

I didn't think anyone still believed Trump was the anti-war, bring the troops home candidate. He made it clear from the beginning he wanted more troops and hoped to use the military to extort tribute or punish enemies. Anon_vlad, the 150% is just part and parcel. He is completely happy to have troops anywhere but he considers them mercenaries. You are supposed to pay him so US troops will support you.

So I assume that u r basing yr pseudo medical explanation on your own personal experience of having missiles fired at u? Perhaps u’re a trauma surgeon w/ battlefield medicine experience? Show some respect & gratitude for our troops! US soldiers in the Middle East risked their lives to protect us & after these heroes got attacked by missiles - all u can say is that these “Guys simply used it as an excuse to get out of this hell hole for "inspection" in Germany.

You claim to profess respect for our troops but when the facts clearly contradict your argument, you start blaming the soldiers. Hmm, u hv learnt well fr yr Mango King.

U also do not know the difference between a terrorist organization versus an actual country. Al Qaeda, ISIS r terrorist organizations that can be destroyed but Iran is a country, much larger & populous than Iraq, Iran has a larger stronger military & possibly a nuclear weapon. U think invading Iraq or Afghanistan is bad? Iran is easily 100 times worse. Was Soleimani a terrorist? Yes but so is Putin by that definition. U want to ask yr buddy, Trump to order a drone strike at Putin?

Soleimani was a bad guy but there was no value in killing him. It just hardens Iran’s stance against the US. There is no military solution for the Iran problem, only a diplomatic one and it’s really hard to negotiate anything w/ Iran after we just killed their 2nd most powerful leader.

So do us all a favor & engage in some real analysis before parroting some rightwing conspiracy theories & bad mouthing US troops again.

MinutemenX,

Glad u know how to cut & paste from Wiki but no analysis again so try harder. W/ our military power, we can even kill Putin but there’s a concept that we adults are familiar with, it’s known as consequences. Even Trump had problems justifying his reckless decision to kill Soleimani.

I suppose under the cloak of annonymity & behind a keyboard, u can claim to be anything - even a Navy Seal w/ a 12 inch cock & Ivanka Trump as yr booty call. But yr contempt for our troops reveal who you really are.

If you say so. Some dare to disagree.

Iran has backed off from directly challenging the U.S. military in the region since the Jan. 3 drone strike that killed Iranian Quds Force leader Qasem Soleimani, the top U.S. commander in the Mideast said Wednesday.

Iran is struggling to maintain its influence over Iraqi militias since the killing of a top Iranian general and top militia leader in a U.S. drone strike in January

When arguments run out there is nothing left but personal insults. You are not worth of any discussion. Ignore. Hope other people agree with me.

If u find personal observations about yourself insulting then I suggest u look in the mirror. From your writing patterns, it’s clear that you are not American so why r u posing as one?

Dear Bred,

The reason why Iran has been so quiet is because the coronavirus has ravaged the entire country. Also, if Iran has lost control of the Iraqi militias then who r these mercenaries going to turn to next? Al-Qaeda or ISIS?

In the Middle East, everyone is a bad guy, it’s about choosing the lesser evil. Either that or totally withdraw from the region which Trump has promised but currently, there are more US troops in the Middle East than when Trump started his term in 2016.

Dear Abdul,

See above.

Another no-content post after I took the effort to point out flaws in your argument. Nice to have u back, Bred

In other news, the attendees of Trump’s upcoming MAGA rally at Tulsa must agree not to sue Trump or his campaign if they contract Covid-19 as a result. What’s the point of having a rally if they know that it’s not going to be safe?

Thanks for all your intelligent and factual posts donbusch. They certainly serve to counteract and destroy the typical Bred Sob stuff. But then, facts always DID triumph over sarcasm.

Happy Birthday Donald.
Invited to leave the stage, he seems to know some difficulties on the access ramp, descended with cautious steps.
American media also noted that he needed two hands in the middle of the same speech to raise a glass of water to his lips, and that he had trouble pronouncing General Douglas MacArthur's name correctly, World War II heroes.

To follow with interest, for the Presidential run.
