Greatest Canadian band if you ask me!
I remember many years ago I am working in Phoenix arizona. We go with colleagues (from canada) to a bar one night. They announce a band from canada. Fuck we realize it was the Hip!!! One of my best night out ever.
This band is as important as Pearl Jam for me. My early 20's were pretty much about these 2 bands.

I saw them plenty of times during the Road Apple and Up to here days, Gord was probably the best front man a band could have. A good friend of mine ( Bill Kennedy also RIP ) was the sound technician for their first EP and I met them in Regina a few decades ago, Gord then was easily approachable and down to earth, liked to party also.
RIP Gord. So sad to see someone of his stature pass away so young, he will be sadly missed by so many.
