Any recommendations for a Vancouverite that wants to eat his body weight in poutine and smoked meat sandwiches (or just good sandos in general) while in Montreal for 4 days next week?

Hell yeah! Whenever i decide to eat there i also usually get the two lobster tails with filet mignon (medium) & usually with a shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. I usually have a Coors Lite for my meals & I’m surprised they’d charge for water.

Thank You. I'll try it! Years ago I stumbled on a place on Rue Sherbrooke E. From hotel Bonaventure I went to Rue Sherbrooke and took a left. The restaurant was on the right. Any idea of the name if still existing.

Where can I find the best steamed hot dogs? Montreal style?
The best ones i’ve had were at Decarie Hotdog but if you don’t have a car it’s too far for walking. In the downtown area i have always enjoyed having a couple of steamed hotdogs at either the Montreal Pool Room on St-Laurent (near Ste Catherine) or at one of the Valentine food stands found at various food courts around Mtl.

If we are talking about high end restaurants. I have to say Damas restaurant in outremont is my favorite place to dine. Pricy but worth it great staff ambience and delicious Syrian food!

I did it was pretty good but I still like Gibbys better! I think in time with the reopening of the new Moishes we will see if it will be as good as the old classic Moishes...
I absolutely love Gibby’s! You can’t go wrong going to Gibby’s & i recommend reserving ahead of time. As for Moishes i went there twice many years ago & didn’t really like it. Was never a fan of the atmosphere there…found it cold, no intimacy, etc. Doubt i’ll ever go back even with the re-opening. Still prefer The Keg downtown & Gibby’s.

I agree with you Gibbys is my all time favorite! I also like the Keg in old Montreal. You need to try Damas Restaurant it's my favorite place to go when you want a special dinner!

Chalet BBQ definitely a throw back place. Really earthy tasty deep tater fries... This isn't the golden light variety by no means. Tried them last month. Better than other places of this type of chicken...like Cote St. Luc BBQ, imho.

Fav Steak Frites place? Did not wish to run another thread. Places that do that steak plus unlimited fries (or has this on the menu).
