Should hourly prices go down?

Well, not so long ago, most if not all agencies' prices went up by an average of $20. The main reason cited at the time was the great increase in gas prices, which hit $1,30+ / liter. Now that the price of gas has gone drastically down in the last 2 months, should we see a drop in prices by a similar $20 (or more?).

I can think of a few people who will hate me for this...

Escorting is an unregulated free market. Supply and demand will dictate what happens.

Oh, and a calculation just for fun: say an average person fills up his tank ($50) once a week: $50*52 = $2600/year. Gas prices decrease by 20%. So that's $520 in savings every year. --> Increase in disposable income --> increase in SP demand ? :)

What about all the lay offs that are starting to happen in the current job market? A few friends in the media area were recently laid off, friends who worked for an automotive company got laid off, the first set of cuts recently happened at my sister's company and also at my bro-in-law's financial company. My company will be doing their first set of cuts this January... and I just blew $2k partying in Montreal last weekend! ACK!

In regards to prices for the various services offered in Montreal I have a few pertinent observations which were made over the last 16 months. First of all and most importantly is the fact that the majority of clubs have fewer patrons than past years. The downward spiral of the economy is a killer! Many eateries have nightly specials both for food and drink. This might be an avenue that some of the clubs and agencies could explore. The key is you must get patrons in the door. What attracts people in general during hard times is a good deal! Lap dances recently went up to $20.00 and many agencies are charging $180/$200/hr. and my guess is that really hurt business. Cover charges went down and drink prices have been stable or in some cases lowered, but we all know why we go to such places. I know there isn't an easy solution but a drop in prices or an increase in time for the same price would certainly help. GM is trying to sell an inferior product at a high price and they are in deep trouble. There is a great product offered in Montreal so how about being creative with some pricing? A little inovation could go a long way in stimulating the market!

You are absolutely right. That is if they meant what they said when they stated that.

I couldn't agree with you more. If they said the increase was because of high fuel costs, the price should come back down.

Well, perhaps you should take a look at the advertisers section. Many seem to be running very frequent specials, which have the effect of reducing the hourly prices, at least much of the time.

I applaud the first agency owner who steps up and moves prices back down.

There is price collusion happening within several of the more well known agencies, so when one moves, many others will follow.

Don't expect gas to stay at this price for too long :)

And I'll take a few hours with some nice ladies from the agncy that moves prices back down!

It's true some agencies are offering specials--not many!-- but this is usual this time of the year, as soon as the festivals/ summer time are over, demand is less I guess and agencies offer specials. So I would not consider this as reflecting lesser costs to them!

Also most of the MERB-advertising agencies regularly offering specials a month ago were only doing it on 1-2 girls per night. So it's not like if regular prices dropped...

Right now the big challenge in Quebec, as in every Western country I have visited, is supply. Despite what they say, all of the agencies have been long having challenges attracting and keeping new talent.

Hasn't this always been the case? I mean, out of every 10 girls who try out at escorting, how many will stay beyond one year? It is a very hard job... Everyone is not made out for it... I am not sure this is a reason for higher prices. If all agency girls were booked at close to full capacity the majority of the time, then I would understand prices being raised because of demand greater than supply (rarity of product). But it does not seem to be the case...

Maybe someone should file a complaint with the Competition Bureau for price fixing. I bet they would enjoy investigating this a lot more than their usual stuff. :)

That would seem to make sense, since the economy has been going well recently. When the crisis really hits Canada, you can assume that supply will increase.

On the other hand, SP's see all their costs go up all the time (rent, clothes, car, food, etc.). If they want to keep up, they are stuck either: (1) doing more volume, or (2) raising their prices, or (3) offering premium/special services, or (4) being more "efficient" (eg: multi-hour bookings = less wasted time).

No. Not exactly. When the baby boomers began hitting the job market, the streets of Montreal and the SCs were jammed with wonderful talent

Wow, OK, I was wondering how old you were, but I think you're definitely a little older than I am. I think my mom was a baby boomer!

But lately, particularly the last three or four years its been bad. I mean you'll get the odd good week or two. Christmas season is great. But overall it's been awful. I haven't had a girl in almost eight days.

Frankly, if I could find an SP right now, I would not be on this board....I'd log off and go (I mean somebody new, that I haven't already seen).

I guess we have very different hobby budgets  . If could see as many girls as you, maybe I'd be a little "bored" with the "old" ones too... Though I must say there are a few I can think of I would repeat at least 2-3 times-- but no need to tell me you've done that, you'll depress me for the rest of the week! :( :(

Right now, the Quebec hobby, is like the Alberta restaurant industry (whose only constraint to growth is finding the waitresses and cooks to serve the meals)....incredible demand, but no supply...

I thought the Alberta restaurant industry was lacking .. good cooks... :p

You are right on this, the rates are advertised as $160/ hour. Of the agencies who advertise here, WoP is the only one with such rates I believe--feel free to correct me, I have not investigated thoroughly. MtlSexCity-SD has an ongoing special at 160 also, but this is a special...
I'd love to see Eleganza on special at $160 :D :D :D ! (yes, I'm smokin' some good one here...)

You know there are many people who spend a lot of money on houses, cars, clothes and so on .... just so they could impress the ladies.

The hobby has also been great to me in another way. Because I walk around in poor clothes, live in an old house and rarely spend money on non-hobby stuff, I have been able to see real closely how women treat (what they believe to be financially poor men) ...and that in itself is a real eye opener...

In short, I owe the hobby a lot....everything....in fact. I can't think of a better way to spend my cash.

Great phrases Benson! I could not resist thinking as I was reading your first line: many people spend money on expensive things to impress the ladies... I'd prefer to spend on expensive ladies to impress ... fill in: friends, my cheap bed/ couch... etc.

It is true how some girls will treat you differently depending on how rich you look, behave. But we see this in bars and public places all the time! The guy who appears to have a lot of dough to blow seem to rake up the club hotties...who would then be willing to do anything for these guys.

But not all girls in the bizz are like this. I have met many who do like to be pampered and surrounded with luxury, but a number of ones I've met also don't care much and prefer to have an intelligent conversation... Usually I repeat with them...

Now, let's not look like we have too much money to spend, 'cause prices will never go down then!

Give it time!

We are into a full blown recession the likes of which we have not seen for a long time. It has hit the rest of the world more than it has Canada. It just may result in the fact that our American cousins have less disposable income. Like all major influences in society these things are slow and ponderous, kind of like pushing a heavy car to get it rolling then dragging one's heels to slow it down. We have not seen the worst yet. Luckily the worst may be over after two years. (Heard that somewhere). As for everything else I suspect the sp industry may be affected and competition may drive prices down. Or the sp's may take to different activities. Take your pick. Already people interviewed by the media are making noises about spending less to survive. One thing for sure is that it will be a buyers' market. Let the chips fall where they may. For those with guaranteed income, well it may be up to them to keep the industry alive.:)

Allot of SPs are not really in the "real World" and are only starting to figure it out. For the moment they just think the winter is a slower time. The prices will drop. They will have to. Escorting is the epitome of the free market. Just watch. It will lag a few months behind the stock market.

Guess who's back to play!
Good morning Boys.....

It also depends on which girl for which agency!!!! If your not sure what I mean, then PM... With in one agency, some girls it's 130, while others are 150.00.... It all depends on if the girl is willing to walk out of the call with a little less $$$
