This is not about keeping the same level of income!
If we gonna have a severe recession in 2009 that will last into 2011, as many serious economists predict, the question will be not about working more to maintain the same level of income.
The question will be about surviving for many many people, including SPs and their clients that not immune from what's going on around!

Hello all,

With all respects to the ladies, it is just unrealistic to project under the current economic circumstances that you will not be lowering your rates. I for one respect your point of view and do not question your costs or the value of your services. But with many clients having less funds, and already cutting back well before the economic plunge this past fall, it seems rate reductions must be inevitable. With fewer clients spending like they used to you can either cut back rates to keep any many clients for as many hours as possible, or you can attempt to elevate yourselves to a higher level of clientele able to spend a lot more. The latter is not possible for everyone and the market is in a downturn. I hope you are able to maintain current earning standards. Some of you have the reputation and type of clients to do so. But the market cannot be denied forever. The best economic projections show 2009 will be a markedly worse year than 2008 as the reality of the economic recession sets in deeply. So good luck to all agencies and Independent ladies. But, Survival Time is coming for all. Good luck in your business decisions.

Cheers,

Merlot

Payrolls in US in Nov fell by 533,000! worse single monthly loss in 34 years!
They also revised Oct and Sept numbers down by 200,000!

And its not over by any means...this downturn will be like no other that we have seen in our lifetimes.

The fear now worldwide is DEFLATION...prices will come down...for everything....you can see it already now in gas, food, clothing, etc....

The price hikes implimented recently by $20 was predicated on increase gas costs and the need to pay SP's more to attract and retain good SP's.
Some of the hikes went to increase compensation, but not all...and not everyone recieved more pay per hour, only the "stars" or established sp's.

How price sensitive will clients get as they see their financial situation worsen??? I hear from even the "stars" that they dont get the amount of work they want per shift...supply and demand fundementals will eventually kick in and prices should head back down.

The only caveat for US clients is that the Cad/US exchange rate just hit 1.30 today, but I doubt thats sustainable for the long-term.
The worry is not in the tourtist trade that probably only accounts for a smaller percentage of calls, but the local business that will suffer.
The US auto industry will probably go into a structured bankruptsy....
I heard that 1 in 14 canadian jobs are related somehow to the auto industry!!

The "hobby" is very addictive, like a drug addiction to many, including myself....lets be careful and realize the finanical implications and keep your balance sheets viable.

Lets all be cognizant that these are tough times for many people and do our best to give that extra in these times of need for those who are fortunate enough to be able too...

That depends. You are assuming that SPs can't make an adjustment to their expenses, and make do on fewer clients and less revenue.
While prices in this market have been somewhat volatile the past couple of years, for indys it has pretty much been solid since Kiki established the $250 a couple of years ago; Tamara followed suit with $350, the agencies followed as well, many $150/$160 agencies are now $180+.
I'm not an SP:D , so I don't know how they will handle it.
Besides, SPs are different. Karina Klein, according to her, is booked till New Year, so I don't think she will feel the hit until after a while after New Year.
As of prices established on indy market.....
Well, I have my own opinion about these prices. I personally never booked indys simply because I don't think they are as much better as they charge in comparison to girls from agencies.
For instance, Kiki and Tamara are excellent SPs (according to reviews), but
1) There are many agency girls that are at least on the same level, but their rate is much lower. Do you really think Princess Kim or Donna or Alicia (Melody) look less hot than Kiki or Tamara? I don't think so!
2) I tried to meet some indy girls a few times - no luck! No call back, no show up is common among indies. So, I quit ti try and prefer to deal with agencies.
Even Devilish that didn't deliver, delivered wrong girl or delivered 2 hours earlier (late delivery is common) looks highly accurate in comparison to indies :) At least they have fair pictures of girls on their site, answer your calls and in more than half cases they serve you very good.
3) You can establish any prices you want. The question is who's gonna pay them. The economy was good, so people were willing to pay more. WIth recession is here it will not be only "do I want to pay that much"? In many cases it will be "I just don't have that money".
Don't get me wrong: I wish good SPs keep and even increase their income. But the reality is nobody will escape from the storm. The only question is how much will we loose.

that is a vague generalization I'm sure any number of indys on this board will take exception to.

In terms of comparing one girl to the next, that is entirely up to the taste of the consumer. I'm happy with my car, stereo, television, the brand of steak I buy, where I live, and so on. (For example, just two days ago I posted a review of Maya from Spa Luna, whom I find personally to be very, very hot. Some other guy disagreed pretty much completely. Neither of us is right. It is what is to our individual tastes. I have a friend who, for real, is into the granny look. There are chubby-chasers. Whatever. So for that part of your post, let's just drop that)

I was talking strictly about my own experience, and I mentioned that in my post.
Yes, I agree we should drop that conversation because the topic of this thread is different.

Although this is a free market and somewhat unmoderated, aside from supply and demand. Prices for labour, of any kind, are related to rent, or cost of living. Commodities markets that fluctuate radically like that of oil, wheat, corn or copper only affect prices directly over long periods of time. It is next to impossible to peg prices of everyday items to commodities. So over the period of a decade prices innevitably rise. Recession and wars cause peaks and dips in the market, but only have short term affects. If you want to see prices drop, you must steel the wealth of the general public causing the people to need to work to eat, not just want to work to buy ipods. Only banks can do this by increasing and decreasing fiat money in circulation and adjusting interest rates inversly proportional to the latter to protect the bottom line.

between you and "them"
i remember going to massage parlours in the 80's $30. to $50. entrance fees,fs at $150....also incall places in the 90's at today prices $80 to $120. and ... i remember one on sherbrooke at $350. and the escorts then were more expensive. If you consider cost of living i believe we have very good deals...the downside is we don't get the top service we used to get....where are the real women?all those younger ones only see our wallets...i know they all do but it seems that i should be able to believe in the fantasy while i am there... i have found a few exceptions ,Jasmine at ?????,Kim at l'Evasion...but time will catch up with them...Any others to suggest?;)
