Low income housing and affordable housing is a scam because it means more taxes. Steal money from hard working single people and hand it to families with 4+ kids or to refugees. I personally do not believe Poilievre will help much about the housing crisis because he has yet to pledge the magic bullet which is to shut down immigration, shut down international students, and turn away all refugees. Till rapid population growth is slowed down, there will always be a housing crisis that will get worse. All politicians are scums and many got real estate, they profit off rapid population increase.

Even if Trudeau is bad that does not mean that PP is good.
I agree and I even said that a few times. However one has to choose the lesser of two evils and Pierre Poilievre has no track record. I am willing to give him a chance and see what he does, no one can be more worse then Trudeau.

No track record???

Ridiculous. You keep on calling it Freedumb when it was a fight to have freedom from government overreach. You have your freedom because of those truckers, look around you all the inflation caused by covid mandates and covid benefits. Second I agree with the comments about Bitcoins being ridiculous but to fire the the director of the BOC I agree. People are getting poorer day by day due to Socialist policies of Trudeau so they want hope that it will get better, Poilievre is capitalizing on that. Legault is very populist also. Given the current prime minister, Polievre is a very sane choice. Let us see what he does, no one can be worse then Trudeau. As for Brian Mulroney, lol he is the second worst prime minister after Justin Trudeau, but that is another topic not too relevant to this thread and he is the past I see no use to get into a debate about Mulroney.

They were FreeDumb. Those calling to fire the Director of Canada Bank just don't understand how global economy works.

Without the intervention of central banks, inflation would be much higher and when it happens your money is devaluates creating more and more inflation.
Just take a look at Turkey. Turkey Inflation Rate is at 59.10%, compared to 48.00% last month and 80.10% last year. This is higher than the long term average of 26.38%.

When economies grow rapidly, interest rate rises are often used by central banks to cool down the economy. They do this by increasing the cost of borrowing money, which reduces economic activity.

In Turkey, however, the opposite has happened. Interest rates have been kept very low by the Turkish Central Bank, leading the economy to spiral out of control.

“It's always running too hot,” says Timothy Ash, an emerging markets expert at BlueBay Asset Management. “Growth is too high, domestic demand is too high, imports are too high. Everything is overheating."

You repeat what the government tells you but I can see you do not fully understand. In a nutshell inflation increases when spending increases. There are a few ways this is done, by increasing the money supply (print more bills), giving out social benefits (print more bills), lowering interest rates, rapid artificial population growth via mass immigration because it increases the demand so inflation goes up. Turkey's troubles are caused by their government (President Erdogan), he kept on lowering interest rates plus with excessive government spending. Even though inflation was going up fast, the idiot still kept interest rates low. President Erdogan is like Trudeau who does not think about monetary policy. Turkey is very reliant on imports so the Lira loosing value is very bad for its citizens. I know many people seem to think the central bank is independent but it is not, they take their orders from the government. Recently their central bank started to raise interest rates but it will not last too long, the last governor of Turkey's central bank to publicly push for rate hikes was kicked out by the president after less than six months in the job.

Poilievre is right to fire the director of the BOC, the director should have hiked interest rates when covid benefits were being given out like candy for over two years. His job is to forsee the economic consequences of excessive government spending. Now the damage has gone too far, the BOC keep on hiking interest rates but Trudeau keeps on bringing in too many immigrants keeping inflation up. I do not think this is coincidence, it appears as if the BOC is following Trudeau's orders. Although the GDP has went up, GDP per capita went down. The ones benefiting the most by this is the government, corporations, grocery stores, and owners of real estate. Timothy Ash as you quoted it, you posted the effects but not the cause. Excessive immigration keeps growth too high, domestic demand too high, and spending too high and so does low interest rates. The GDP goes up and it looks good on the international stage but look at the important stat which is what economists look at and that is GDP per capita which actually went down which means the average joe got poorer. For many years Canada had low interest rates and more immigration then should be allowed.

Turkey has high immigration, in fact they took in a high amount of Syrian refugees. Rapid population growth made the economy too hot, plus with an idiot like President Erdogan who insists to keep interest rates low is a recipe for disaster.

Poilievre makes a good talk, he still has not mentioned the magic word which is to put a moratorium on immigration and send all refugees back. Just making it easier to build more homes is not enough, the rapid population increase must be slowed down to stop the GDP per capita from going down lower and lower and to get inflation in check. Again, my only logic to choose Poilievre is because no one can be more worse then Trudeau, he has to go. The corruption runs too deep, look at how he is making accusations against India just because he wants votes from Sikh people, Jagmeet Singh his lapdog is also Sikh and it is not coincidence they formed a socialist coup.. They will now try to bring in as many Sikh people to Canada so they can vote in the election to keep Trudeau in power. This kind of corruption has to go, it also undermines Canada's democracy. So time for Polievre to take over.

If the Conservatives wanted to ensure a defeat of the Liberals they should have chosen a better leader than a dipstick like PP.
Quite true. But PeePee orchestrated the whole thing by smearing top party rival Patrick Brown by paying an associate to spread made-up dirt about him & forcing him to resign during the leadership campaign. A couple of months ago it was discovered PeePee paid for her legal fees after Patrick Brown was cleared of all charges.

I was just on YouTube to enjoy McCarthy becoming the first Speaker in American history to ever be ousted from office, but all of a sudden my enjoyment came to a halt. The reason was that another rightwing clown suddenly appeared on the screen in a political ad. It was none other than PP, speaking his usual bunch of hateful, unconstructive rhetoric and solidifying the fact that if he ever left Canada and moved to the States, he'd be a perfect fit for the GOP. Same attitude, same BS. Let's hope he never gets to do to Canada what the GOP has done to the USA.

Think about what Trudeau has done to Canada since 2015. How are we doing in terms of international politics, housing, health, jobs, education, immigration...after 8 years. Will you give him another chance?

This thread is about PP not Trudeau. If the Conservatives want to win they should field someone decent, not PP.

This election will be about kicking Trudeau out, so we have to talk about him. I agree, Skippy is not Prime Minister material, even without glasses! But there is no choice, unless you consider Yagmeet Singh...
