I was lucky enough so far: I have not had any STD in the last 25 years and don't even know how to treat them in US.
I've been getting tested after hobbying anonymously, NP.
But what if I catch STD? Where do I go to treat it? To which doctor?
My major concern I don't want to have any STD mentioned in my patient record. I know I know, it's confidential, but still....
Honorrea can be easily treated by antibiotics, but you cannot get them in US w/out prescription.
Is there any way to treat STD anonymously in US?
Thanks in advance!

To the best of my knowledge, and where I live, STD's of certain types have to be reported to the state. The only way to get antibiotics without a prescription, that I know of, is to go to a pharmacy in Mexico. You can get a lot of medications without a prescription there. Whatever you do, DO NOT DIAGNOSE YOURSELF. People with no medical training have died because of this.
This link: http://healthnurse.wordpress.com/faq-about-sexual-health/sti-risks-chart/ was posted in another thread here in the Health Info section. It might help answer some of your concerns and questions.

wait a sec... you're advising not to self-diagnose because you could die, but its ok to get meds from Mexico?? I'd bet more have died from getting poor meds/fake meds/wrong meds from Mexico than have died from an STD (HIV/AIDS notwithstanding). Why not just suggest getting them via the internet from Uganda or Nigeria?

IMHO If you are sick from any malady, whether an STD or something else, GO TO YOUR DOCTOR. Your doctor will know your medical history, and be able to diagnose your problem in that context. If you have been sexually active, with SPs or MPs or "regular" pickups, tell your doctor. HIPAA laws prohibit your doctor from telling anyone, and if you have contracted an STD, are you more concerned with getting it treated or with what's written in your patient record?

Thanks for the replies, but they are no more than well-known facts.
Treating most STD is very simple: one take of antibiotics for gonorrhea (tetracycline) and one shot for syphilis.
You can get tested anonymously in US. You have two choices.
You can go to almost free state-sponsored test centers, sit in the room with mostly 450 code :) people for a couple of hours in the waiting room, and then wait two weeks to get the result. Or you can go to private lab, pay 130 for gonorrhea test and $70 for syphilis and get the result in a couple of days.
Now you just need top find a way to get 8 tablets of Tetracycline or one shot of penicillin in the buttock.
But in order to do that you have to go to your physician, then go to the lab, wait for the result, etc. And you will get reported to the state.
I asked is there any other way?
Is it possible to to STD treatment in US anonymously?
In most, if not all European countries, even during Communist era in Eastern Bloc, people could and can get tested AND treated anonymously! You come to the clinic, get tested, get result next day. If you get something, they will treat you right there! And NOBODY would ask you your name if you don't want to give it! Even in Communist countries!
But it seems like it's not the option in USA and Canada? If you caught STD, state or Government officials must be notified about it? Is it correct?
