I agree with you Gaby she did not play the best she can but still was able to beat Bensic. Fuck she saved 4 tie... Very very promising for a 19 year old.

Now for the final Serena will be really pump up. She knows it's probably one of her last major final. She will not let a newcomer take it away easily. Bianca will have to remember to vary her shot as much as she did up to now. Stick with her game!

Cheers,

The bad boy Medvedev has made it to the finals. Judging by how he has played in the hard court season, he is a very dangerous opponent for Nadal, assuming Nadal wins against Berrettini. If Berrettini is not dispatched by Nadal quickly and is taken to 4 or 5 rough sets, Nadal will be prone to being injured or exhausted in another 5 set match against the 10 years younger bad boy Medvedev.

So what's your take? Serena or Bianca?

Me I go for the upset. Bianca in 3 set. 2 in tie breaker.

I think it will go 3 sets but I like Serena because the crowd will be behind her and she has shown a tendency to pick it up when needed and go to a different level. Plus Andreescu, although she is an impressive 7-0 against the top 10 this year, has not played a match like this in a setting like this against an opponent like this.

I wouldn’t be totally surprised if Andreescu wins. Williams is at an age where she is prone to getting hurt and she may be still dealing with a mild sprained ankle. In matches like this with older players, health issues can become a wild card and game changer and anything could happen during the match.

Some of the the same issues can crop up with Nadal but he looked awfully impressive yesterday and closed the match exceptionally strong. He looks like he is in great condition and Medvedev has his work cut out for him tomorrow.

Fascinating FINALS ....men -women......rematchs from Rogers Cup--Montreal and Toronto......hope the results will b the same lol. ...2 of the best players on the planet will play the 2 best kids players on the tour in 2019....2 LEGENDS vs 2 YOUNG PRETENDERS----jeunes loups dans la bergerie...

So the best will play the best......MEDVEDEV---NADAL should b a heck of a game.....

Enjoy the moment.

Congratulations to Andreescu, US Open champion. She played a great match! Serena didn’t make a lot of first serves but I think she was feeling pressure because Andreescu was returning serve very well. Serena needed around 70% on 1st serves to win this match and was not close.

When it got to 5-4 in the second, I was convinced Bianca was going to collapse. Serena had just found another gear and with her mental toughness and championship spirit was going to pull it out. I mean, Bianca's 19, first US Open, mental lapse seemed likely.

But I was wrong. It's great.

Andreescu looks very good and could become number 1 in the world in the next year, but there is a wave of younger players including Gauff and McNally who are coming up behind her. Gauff is very raw but only 15 and covers the Court very well and could also become a force within a few years. What I like about Andreescu is she has a polished game as well as power and returns serve very well. She is also well put together mentally. It will be interesting to see how these younger players develop.

Bouchard was number 5 and a Wimbledon semi finalist in 2014 but she fell in love with being a celebrity, much like Anna Kournikova who was once ranked #8 in singles and was #1 in doubles in the world. Andreescu could end up having careers like those 2, although she appears to be a more talented and also less distracted player. A lot of people think it’s just talented male athletes who get seduced and distracted by off the field stuff, but women are equally prone even if they do mature faster then men. Some of the young female athletes develop a taste for the good life, and never have their careers recover. Jennifer Capriati was another player, very talented like Andreescu, who developed drug problems and although she won a few majors she never came close to fulfilling her potential. There are other examples. This is why the longevity and productivity of the careers of the Williams sisters is so impressive. Both are very talented and have had celebrity status and both have had to deal with injuries and illness and childbirth in Serena’s case yet have had long and very successful pro careers.
