Big Saturday.....great match up...

Noon...ANDREESCU ---WOZNIACKI......later...SHAPO--MONFILS and tonight prime time GAUFF--OSAKA followed by KYRGIOS--RUBLEV.

MEDVEDEV....the hottest player, was my fav to win BUT NO MORE after his bad and arrogant attitude yesterday with ballperson, ref and giving the crowd the middle finger....what a cheap behavior......should b fined and suspended....shame on him....will have an hostile crowd for the rest of tournament....well deserved...
will now cheer for NADAL....

RUBLEV---THIEM et FÉLIX AUGER qui à ce jour n'ont pas fait de frasque et qui eux sont une belle inspiration pour les jeunes......my 2 cents.....and i feel much better now !!!!!!

Coco v. Osaka at 7 tonight- Osaka has a knee problem. McEnroe wants Coco to lose on the theory that it’s too much too soon and will create incredible expectations. He has a good point but he is using his own experience when Connors straight setted him in the semis as an 18 year old high school graduate. Maybe Coco is more mature and can handle it. She is only 15 though.

Dominant performance by Osaka......overpowered Gauff and bagelled her 2nd set. Osaka's 2 handed backhand was incredible in this match. Gauff is too young and rough around the edges still to handle this kind of match......her serve is very inconsistent and her second serve is borderline nonprofessional. She has a lot to work on there.

Agree....OSAKA was in perfect control and her body langage was impressive...she was ready.....BUT the best moment was after the game when OSAKA invited COCO to do interview with her...to give COCO the opportunity to say a few words on her incredible week and thanks the fans......great class act by OSAKA...never seen in tennis---will b remember....NAOMI great CHAMP with BIG HEART.....was not really a fan of her BUT yesterday elle m'a impressionné....i am now...:yo:

And now the boys....wow...what a spectacular evening.....MONFILS in 5 long and intense sets---3h35.....SHAPO did well BUT GAEL a été plus constant, plus régulier..... i like him a lot..always on my radar...

And what about RUBLEV....quite a phenomenon...only 21...ranked 43....6'2---125 lbs....am kidding..lol.....BUT he looks so thin, delicate, fragile....like a student--nerd BUT what a player.....thanks and bravo ANDREY for your great win in 3 sets on sweet KYRGIOS...well done...you are now one of my favs...:yo:

I agree, Gaby. These new 'prima donnas' don't have the same class as the old guys i used to watch like Connors, Nastase and McEnroe. ;)

Let’s not forget that Connors, McEnroe and Nastase were all World #1 ranked players during their careers whereas the guys Gaby mentioned are talented wannabes who haven’t won shit or been ranked #1.

I agree here. Very important factor for me too.

Agassi, my favorite player of all time, had his moment with the umpire, rival or the crowd also ;)

Cheers

The golden days of modern men's tennis were with Borg, McEnroe, Connors and Villas...not so sure if I would include Nastase who was a real nut case. Honorable mention to Gerulaitis and Tanner!

McEnroe was volatile so one never knew when he would explode...but that's understandable given he grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth and being a New Yorker...but I loved him nevertheless!

Mac and Connors were controversial but they were extremely talented! Mac and Connors saved tennis in the late 70s and early 80s much like Magic and Bird saved the NBA in the early 80s.

Agassi, Chang, Courier and others...as tennis players were plain garbage...they were the beneficiary of much better tennis racquet/string technology!

Sharkman I kind of agree with you regarding that golden era. But you know technology is available for everyone. It levels out. It has nothing to do with the quality of a player. Agassi, Sampras, Chang were all class act great player. Courier did not wanted to be a tennis player. And that's fine.

Connors was probably the best overall athlete and great player (now surpass by Federer) but as a human all his peers despised him. Seem he was and still is a dumb moron.

The fab 4 of Federer, Djoko, Nadal and Murry were the best quatuor tennis has never seen. And it will take a few decade to have that again.

For me Agassi was the best because he needed grits to win his game. He was a good returner but could not win games with his service. On top of it he gave hundred of millions back to the community via his school academy for the poor.

Good game to come tonight with Bianca!!

p.s. Just saw Schwartzman win his game!! Wouhou! Love him as he is proving you do not need to be 6'5'' to be dominant. Schwartzman is half a inch taller then me ;)
