The shift from wood to graphite racquets and synthetic strings on steriods as it happened in the 80s...just as the golden era players exited the game...made it a lot easier - with much less effort mind you - for the incoming generation of players (the Lendl's and Agassi's of the world) to look like great tennis players when in fact it was primarily the new technology of the racquets and strings that carried these schmucks!

Give a wood racquet (made from quebec maple...lol!) to a modern day wannabe tennis player in a tennis school today and he wouldn't know wtf to do with it!

Haha completely wrong! First do not forget Agassi began his playing carreer defeating connors, McEnroe, borg... Like I said technology is available to everyone. It's just a device. It has nothing to do with who is the best. The best will be the best no matter what you put in their hand.

It exactly like in golf. Do you think Wood is better then Nicklaus because with today's club technology? The answer is no. Like tennis pro these todays golf player are great because they know how to hit the ball.

Happy also with DIEGO SCHWARTZMAN'S WIN :fat::fat::fat: ON ZVEREV in 4 sets....yes he is only 5'7 MAIS il en a mis plein les bottines au géant...il l'a totalement dominé mentalement et physiquement......just great..

BUT am a bit sad for RUBLEV..he fought well BUT lost in 3 sets vs MATTEO BERRETTINI....yes BERRETTINI....second Italian to reach quarters at US OPEN.....

OH...and bye bye AHN.....was nice to meet you...lol......hope to meet you again.....don't give up on your project :thumb:

...Haha completely wrong!

Jali, you sound like a tennis chair ump calling the ball out when in fact it was in!...I wish you were in front of me so I could take either my wood or graphite racquet and hit you over the head and in the process making Johnny Mac look like a saint!!!...lol!!!

I'll grant you that yes technology was available to everyone, the reason why punks like Lendl and Agassi beat guys like McEnroe and Connors was because of the graphite composite racquets and the new synthetic string technology...and not because they were better...please...lol!!!!!...how many times do I have to beat you over the head with that!!!...Go and look at some clips of Lendl - who was the first modern day tennis player to successfully use a graphite racquet (Kneissl) and win championships! Borg / McEnroe and the rest of the gang figured it out too late not to switch because it was their choice...but they made the wrong choice or they did not care to switch that late in their career. But don't tell me that Agassi a 5'8" balding punk with air extensions carrying a Canon EoS Rebel camera up his ass was able to beat Connors or Johnny Mac because he was a better tennis player because of his superior skills!!!...Please don't make me laugh!

The only player who was smart enough to realize that the trend was changing was Connors with his classic Wilson T2000 metal racquet. That's why he was able to outlast guys like Borg and Johnny Mac and win 2 US Opens and reach the finals of Wimbledon in the early 80s (beating Lendl and others who were using graphite). And Connors knew (and admitted it) that to compete and win he needed to improve his metal racquet by tweaking it...and Connors still beat Lendl because Lendl was a pussy even though Lendl was using graphite!

I guess you will have to smack me over. Will it hurt? ;)

Agassi was oblige to hit 100 per day at 8 year old. Using a wooden racket hehe His dad had invented a throwing machine and built a tennis court in his backyard. All that time his dad had the theory that he had to return the ball as fast as possible. Cutting rebound time as much as possible. You would have probably rebel and turned punk too with a crazy dad like he had. Funny that Agassi went on to marry Stephi Graff. When both their dad met for the first time they had a fight haha

Yep and could win......yesterday after his game he apologised to the crowd and thanks them.........previously in an interview he said he was working on him.......we will see.

And too bad FEDERER......lost in 5 sets avec des douleurs au dos.......l'âge le rattrape.......

We all knew it would b a walk in the park for SERENA but that way 6-1, 6-0 in 44 min....wow.....hopefully WANG QIANG was cute....lol.

Federer showed his class act yesterday. Pretty much all other players would have quit the game on injury before the last set as he was obviously in pain and could not really play anymore. But that Federer who has NEVER pull out of a game. For me he is the greatest athletes (physically and mentally) all sport combined.

Seems a nice road for Nadal to add another major ;)

Cheers,

Yesterday was the first time I watch Bianca's game completely. She has an amazing variety of shots. And her service return are often a great weapon for her game.

Yes some of her young emerging opponents are really good but who else at 19 already has the variety of shots as Bianca?

Cheers,
