Yep....VENUS---SERENA,,,,,not the match we were expecting.....Venus too flat and her sister just too good--perfect.....the door is wide open for her.........PLISKOVA--SVITOLINA---STEPHENS.....on their way.

Well SHAPOVALOV fought very hard and played very well BUT not enough vs the giant ANDERSON.......RAONIC played like a CHAMP vs WAWRINKA in 3 sets......:yo:....he will play ISNER in round of 16.....should be a great one.....NADAL---DEL POTRO---THIEM....move also.

Highlights on the women's side is that Cibulkova has knocked out Kerber and Osaka threw a double bagel at Sasnovich. Regarding Kerber she took Cibulkova lightly and nobody should ever take Cibulkova lightly even though she is a small woman. She has lots of spunk. Regarding the Osaka double bagel on Sasnovich, I can't even remember when that happened outside of the 1st and 2nd rounds. Was Sasnovich playing hurt?

wow...yes Osaka double bagel on Sasnovich.....no i watched the last set and she was not injured...just a real real bad day at work....Osaka played very well in her last tournaments.....she will play tomorrow Sabalenka---rising star--and it will be another story.

So number 4 Kerber and 5 Kvitova are out........in this draw the door is wide open........SHARAPOVA--KEYS--CIBULKOVA--OSAKA AND OH YES SABALENKA will still fight....

FEDERER and DJOKO won easily in 3 sets.........they should play in demifinal.

Don't miss today-afternoon RAONIC 6'5 VS ISNER 6'10......is ISNER ready for another marathon???....will cheer for Milos...he is playing his best tennis.

Gaby,

Absent injury or severe tanking, double bagel losses shouldn’t happen in the 3rd round and beyond. They are very rare. That being said Osaka is a good young player and a threat to win majors. I really think whomever advances out of the Serena Williams/Sloane Stephens side of the draw will win. Osaka is a legit dark horse.

Agree ....hope Sloane could win BUT i really really believe SERENA will do it...she is on a mission..and the door is wide open for her.....concerning Osaka...i love this young talented girl......she brings some fraîcheur à la game et she is so natural and candide.....very nice and fun to watch. The other one i like a lot is

Keys....she looks good and plays now intense and good tennis.

Raonic's record against the top players is utterly abysmal. He has consistently had his ass kicked and I will not embarrass him by posting his career record against Nadal, Federer, Joker and Murray. He is another Mark Phillipoussis. In fact he is exactly the same player as the Scud. And given his record against the top players it's very unlikely he will ever win a major.

I would tend to agree.....Milos is too "klunky". He is just not quick enough on his feet to chase down good shots.

If youy saw the match Milos received just before the 5th set medical attention for his right hip and said about it ....I JUST WASN'T ABLE TO PUSH THAT MUCH.....Milos has been plagued by injuries those past couple of years PLUS exasperated by the time-consumming rehab. In 2016 he was number 3 in the world.

In my view he was playing right now his best tennis...still strong first services PLUS NEW ..good at the net........anyway we will see...if not injured again should have still a bright future...and the good news for him ...he will b back in the top 20 in the next ranking. That said am not a big fan of him , just try to

be honest and bring some perspective.

Gaby,

Joker and Nadal have also struggled with injuries in recent years, Nadal with knees and Joker a very serious elbow injury, and they have consistently beaten the crap out of Raonic, ditto with Murray and Federer and all the other good players. Regarding Nadal, I don’t think he has really been fully healthy the last 10 years. Nadal is one of the best grinders I have ever seen in the sport since Jimmy Connors, the ultimate grinder. Nadal is the modern version of Connors whom you are probably too young to remember. Raonic will have similar career to Mark Phillipoussis who also had injuries. Raonic is the Scud II. I realize he is the best Canada has ever had but he isn’t really a champion type player to me. He is also almost 28 and in the next 5 years he will get hurt more and more. That type of player is not like a wine that ages well. He is no Wawrinka.

Wow what a big upset...FEDERER lost in 4 sets vs hum MILLMAN....he said he was not feeling good with that hot hot weather.....wich was the same for both players.......so MILLMAN--CILIC--DJOKO--NISHIKORI move to quarters.

Yes another surprise is MARIA loosing to SUAREZ....SHARAPOVA has lost her touch......BUT thanks to youngsters OSAKA--SABALENKA who played a great match....OSAKA won in 3 sets....we will hear of both in the future....2 talented girls.,,,so NAVARRO--KEYS--OSAKA-TSURENKO move to quarters,

This afternoon DEL POTRO VS ISNER....tonight NADAL--THIEM....shoul be intense and great tennis.

Federer said he was feeling good but he has never been an excuse-maker and to do so would have tarnished Millman’s victory. Federer knows he got beat in the heat by the younger, fitter man. The proof of that is 76 unforced errors which is a comedy show for a player of his caliber.

EB we will see that more and more with Federer. I would not call it a comedy show. I would call it aging ;) To me Federer is the greatest class athletes of all sports.

Remember the last memorable few years of Agassi? I do see a similar pattern. He would loose often by not being able to pull off what he used to be able to pull off easily. And Agassi was in great physical shape. But still he had to take 5 tylenol after a game and needed to sleep on the floor because of his bad back.

Cheers,
