BTW I predicted like 3 rounds ago that Osaka was a legit threat to win the tournament. Nobody really gave her a shot. She is very good and her time is now, unfortunately for Serena.

Serena said she was at 50-60% from where she wants to be....so don't count her out too soon....and i really hope she will win her 24th major title... that said am very happy for Osaka and she has a bright future in front of her.

Again DJOKO played perfectly--top level and won in 3 sets for his 14th Major title...same as Sempras.....:yo::yo::yo:.....BUT the real surprise of this tournament was of course Noemi Osaka.......congrats to both US OPEN CHAMPIONS......bien mérité.

The umpire was a thief and a cheat. Let the players decide a championship match!

I agree with you. Some male players have said and done much worst. As soon as a women (especially a black) does something similar she is judged as hysterical...

The umpire should have never given a violation for her breaking her racket. How many have done that without violation penalty??

Serena certainly should have received a code violation and loss of a point for racquet abuse. See John McEnroe, who is a white male: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKiGviq3rjs
However, I agree the loss of game for verbal abuse seemed to be a bit harsh. But then I looked at the chair umpire - who is Hispanic. People don't realize that calling an Hispanic "a thief" is akin to calling a black the N-word.

Here is Johnny Mac again getting the same treatment as Serena. This time in the Australian Open. After three code violations, he was tossed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_2rjocv-Jo

Unlike Serena, who was probably going down big anyway, Johnny Mac was winning that match when he got DQ'd. He lost track of the violations and actually believed he had one more. He would have dialed it back I think if he had known he was out.

I have watched pro tennis men and women's since the 1970s and IMHO if you take physical talent/athleticism/size out of the equation and just rate pure talent, McEnroe was the most talented player I have ever seen. Even his serve, which was not the very hardest, was unusually deceptive and extremely well placed. He had the highest ball toss I ever saw and it fooled opponents. Go out on a Court and try to serve like he did- watch the tapes and try to emulate that serve. If you can do that then buy a guitar and try and play Purple Haze like Jimi Hendrix. If you can do both than you are the ultimate genius at tennis and guitar.

McEnroe was a complete player with a very large bag of tricks and was an exceptional volleyer. He was also a master of lob shots and topspin.

SINGAPORE WTA FINALS.....last big one ----for me the most interesting-to celebrate the best female player of 2018. Only the 8 best players of 2018 participate...unfortunately number one Halep--injured--is not in..so Berkens took her spot.

-Semifinal 1....STEPHENS--PLISKOVA.....i watched it this morning and WOW.....STEPHENS lost the first set 6-0..yes 6-0 and was loosing 2-0 in the second......AND she strongly came back to win 6-4 and 6-1.....spectacular..am proud of her.....

-Semifinal 2....BERKENS--SVITOLINA....i watched it too...good match and SVITO won in 3 sets.

-FINAL tomorrow STEPHENS--SVITOLINA....i like SVITO a lot,,,,very cute, sharp and so nice BUT am in LOVE with SLOANE....so will cheer for her....elle est plus puissante.....should be fun to watch.

Yes Gaby 100 just wow , and at 37 years of age . That’s nuts ,,, Roger Federer is truly a living lgend.
Maybe he catches Jimmy C with 109 .
But even if he catches Connors for most titles ,from now on he will be looking behind he’s shoulders because it’s safe to say Djokovic is coming for he’s record 20 grand salamis. And if I was a betting man I’d say he passes him eventually. Djokovic is back stronger than ever and he’s got the game and time is on he’s side .

On another note Tsitsifast did well for himself the last couple of weeks. He won Marceille and reached the Dubai final. He’s now top 10 so the kid is on he’s way .
Also Nick Kyrgios won the Acapulco open beating a very strong competition on he’s way to that title. So well done to him as well.

Yeah, he's on a roll. And only 18. He's on the right track, but let's hope he doesn't choke like Bouchard.

WOW...i watched Aliassime yesterday...quelle défaite crève-coeur...he lost in 3 sets after 3 hours of a great battle....in third set he was losing 5-1 and cameback at 5-5, 6-6 and lost in tbrake 7-5...vraiment dommage après une telle remontée....un vaillant guerrier.

Shapo and Andreescu are on today...Bianca plays in quarters.

Very happy for VENUS who at 39 still plays good tennis ...will play in quarters today....much better than Serena who really seems to be out of shape.

I was able to watch only the last set of the Aliassime match .
Tough loss for the youngster. But he really fought well and showed that he has star potential.
