Similar to the Jonathan Drouin situation, I think. Osaka was a little bit more public in her explanation on why she withdrew. Drouin took the more private approach, likely because it would not be seen as "manly" by teammates/fans/media if he was public about being stressed out and needing time away from the sport. Osaka can be more communicative because she is only playing for herself and is not part of a team. And maybe as well because she is a woman, and not a hockey player.
