In case any of you guys forgot, your own hotheaded Canadian hero, Denis Shapovalov, back in 2017 rocketed a ball in anger off the chair umpire's left eye (swelling it shut), as seen in this video:

Nailed the umpire in the eye, and Shapovalov basically served that one HARD. Shapovalov was defaulted and fined $7,000

Interesting match tonight between Tiafoe and Medvedev. Anyone think Tiafoe can take Medvedev down?
I like Tiafoe and think that his a great competitor but a focused and fully engaged Medvedev is just a tough matchup for anyone . No New York crowd to help Tiafoe so unless Danill hits a line judge I don’t see an upset

Tiafoe's second serve is not at all a competitive professional serve. He is serving up meatballs and Medvedev is rifling easy winners down the line

Neither FAA nor Tiafoe bothered to put up any resistance at all beyond the first set. Pretty pathetic.

Tiafoe won 1 game the last 2 sets, and was bagelled in the 3rd set. I can't believe how badly he got his ass kicked. But his puff second serve really, really sucks and he will get eaten alive on it by better players as long as it continues to suck.

Yep it was all MEDVEDEV.......he will play son compatriote RUBLEV---i like this kid--BUT MEDVEDEV should win.

So yesterday it was the end of the road for POSPISIL and it was prévisible...and for FÉLIX une défaite in 3 little sets.....ALIASSIME a pu mesurer toute la distance qui le sépare encore du top......THIEM just too perfect.

Tonight SHAPO VS CARRENO BUSTA,,,,,he could do it...

EB.....THIEM--MEDVEDEV--ZVEREV are 3 excellent players BUT i would pick THIEM ....he is dans sa bulle....the door is open for him.....will probably play MEDVEDEV in semis and it will b his toughest opponent...and play ZVEREZ in the FINAL...and become a US OPEN

CHAMP......and i will cheer for him.

Zverev made it to the semis. Not the best match of his life, but he prevailed, well done Sasha! As usual, on his good day he can beat anyone, so he obviously has the game and his problems are mostly mental. Should be interesting to see how he matches up against Thiem or Medvedev.

Yep....agree..i just watched the game....he lost first set 6-1--o_O---and played without intensity---same way he did often in the last 18 months----lack of motivation and bad body langage.....and suddenly bang bang bang....he played to win next 3 sets....that's the ZVEREV we like to watch..... hope he will play DENIS in semis.....so go SHAPO....tonight after OSAKA...belle soirée en perspective.

Yep fully agree with him....BUT what a thriller....5 sets in more than 4 hours....after second set i thought DENIS would b out of gas.... he played more than CARRENO.....BUT no...he even won the 4th set 6-0...wow...mais avec 11 doubles fautes et 76 unforced errors--that's too many ......big credit to SHAPO for 2 memorable weeks......and yes he will have to improve his maturity.
Have never been a fan of him cause justement his lack of maturity in the past....he used to play like a kid just for fun BUT if you want to b a real PRO you have to act-play like it.......he works now with un psychologue and am sure we are seing now the good result.

Today the game to watch RUBLEV--MEDVEDEV......i like RUBLEV a lot BUT he won't do it......so b ready for a semi THIEM---MEDVEDEV.

Gabby, regarding Thiem, Medvedev, and Zverev, I worry that a victory by any of them will be tainted because Djokovic was defaulted and Nadal and Federer didn't play. In other words, the victory will be asterisked as the championship of the also-rans and second tier guys. When Stan Wawrinka won his 3 Grand Slams in 2014, 2015, and 2016, he went through Djoko in 2 of those finals and Nadal in the other. Those were not cheap wins by Stan the Man. I really think that what we are all watching is the championship of the second tier of the top 10.

Regarding Thiem, he had a chance in the last 2 years in one of the majors at the end, I watched that match and he flopped badly. I can't recall if it was Wimbledon or US Open but I think one of those 2 and I forget if it was Nadal or Djoko or who knocked him out but I remember the match being hyped as Thiem's possible breakthrough, and he looked not ready for prime time.

I feel like we would be watching a Djokovic vs. Nadal final if the Joker wasn't defaulted and Nadal didn't back away due to Covid. I feel like we are being deprived of seeing the real champion. You are doing your best to soup up these other guys, but none of them have ever won anything and there is a question in my mind as to the legitimacy of any victory any of them claim here. Let's see them do it against a stacked field like Stan the Man did.

I get your point BUT life goes on and US OPEN too......we can't do nothiing about DJOKO'S behavior---il n'a que lui -même to blame---same for NADAL and FED. who decided not to play...it's their decision.....so for ME THIEM --RANKED #3 before FEDERER --or MEDVEDEV---RANKED #5 would b real LEGITIMATE CHAMPS....with absolutly no asterix in the book.....crystal clear......and there is no CHEAP WIN.....the players remaining are all warriors , among the best .....and we should applause them for being there and fighting each other...my 2 cents.
