I wouldn't say lucky, Beav. The Yankees have a loaded offense. They have, however, now played 4 games at home against two of the 4 truly bad teams in the American League, scored 7.25 runs per game, yet split the four.EagerBeaver said:I would say the Yankees are lucky to be 2-2 at this point, but hopefully this comeback win will light a fire under the team.
Yes, and Cashman for Executive of the Year, Torre for Manager of the Year, Mattingly for Bench Coach of the Year, the Yankee batboy for Batboy of the Year, the ball girl on the right field line for ball girl of the year, and, of course, Joe.T the perennial moron of the year from Moron of the Year once again.Joe.t said:-I am changing my MVP prediction pick from Frank Thomas to A-Rod.
Your intellect show, you fucken moron. It would be fabulous if Ortiz were hitting 1.58, but, sadly, such is impossible. He is, in fact, hitting .158. I wouldn't expect him to match last years numbers any more than I would expect Jeter or Cano to match last year's numbers. While each is likely to have a fabulous year, what they did last year is unlikely to be reproduced.Joe.t said:also Ortiz is off to a god awful start batting a pathetic 1.58 and it looks like he wont even come close to last year's numbers(my prediction)
Yes, Beav, Dukes, Upton, and Young are all fabulous looking young talents, but none has yet shown that he can hit at the major league level. Zobrist, however, is not really expected to be much of an offensive force, but more a glove man. I expect that all will be better players in 2008 than in 2007, and better in September than now.EagerBeaver said:Well, I wouldn't say Tampa Bay has bad positional players. Dukes, Young, and Upton are all bright young talents, and Baldelli, if he can stay healthy, is a terrific all around player. Crawford is a nice player, and so is their shortstop, whose name escapes me.
Yes, terribly worried. Neither of his home runs tonight went any where near 400 feet.btyger said:Yes, Joe, the Sox should be terribly worried about Ortiz
The last thing I'd call Ken Rosenthal is "knowledgable" but, regardless, this link takes us to an article on the awesome show put on last night by Papelbon and Ortiz. So which of those two does Rosenthal pick for MVP?Joe.t said:http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6656796
Check out who the very knowledgable Rosenthal is picking for AL MVP this year but i think that he is going out on limb with his rookie of the year prediction.

Personally, I think that A-Rod will put up MVP numbers in his last year as a Yankee, but will fall short in the voting as the voters tend to penalize players on teams that don't make the post-season.
That should read "Ponson's sorry ass."EagerBeaver said:The Yankees kicked Sidney Ponson's ass
This game is Wednesday, Beav. Matsuzaka also draws King Felix. Tomorrow afternoon's home opener features Beckett and Jeff Weaver.EagerBeaver said:ESPN is doing a very good job hyping tomorrow's matchup between Matsuzaka and Ichiro: Japan's finest pitcher against its most difficult hitter.
That's what he says. Over at rotoworld, they ain't buying it. Expect the Yanks to be cautious with him as it's only April. I'd be surprised if we don't see a brief stint on the DL.femaleluver2 said:Dunno the extent of Mussina's injury, but it looks like he's only gonna miss one start, next Tuesday. Rasner is expected to fill in for him.
rumpleforeskiin said:They'll keep winning, but there will be a lot of 9-7 games.
Noticed you wrote that, Doc, back when the Jays were in first, early this afternoon. The Red Sox have now allowed 28 runs in 10 games, a pace they certainly can't maintain. They're in first after just 10 games, despite the fact that neither Manny nor Papi are hitting a lick.Doc Holliday said:Having watched all 3 teams play over the past two weeks, i know it's still very early into the season, but i'm starting to think that the Jays actually have a great chance of winning the division pennant. Both the Yankees & Red Sox actually look quite beatable & what surprised me the most is the lack of depth on the Yankees pitching staff. And all along, i thought the Jays' achilles heel was their pitching.....but it's far from being worse than the Yankees'. I'd say the same thing about Boston's pitching staff, but as long as Papelbon stays healthy & continues to throw the ball as hard as he's been throwing up to now, their pitching altogether is more than adequate.
