What i also dislike about the so-called 'fans' is that we've been hearing their stupid chant much earlier in games, like in the 2nd period or early in the 3rd. Talk about totally disrespecting the other team!

You're totally correct. Halak was probably one bad game away from hearing the numerous boo-birds. THE WORSE FANS IN PROFESSIONAL SPORTS. Period.

p.s. And look-out! As soon as they get eliminated by Pittsburgh, they'll take to the streets, start vandalizing the various shops along Ste-Catherine street, start burning cop cars, etc. Typical!

Another typical answer from a frustrated montreal whore fucker Toronto Maple Leaf fan.

Well, well.....nothing's changed. The MOST IRRELEVANT poster on the entire board is back to his familiar name-calling. It's really classy of you (or is it crassy?) to describe what you really think of our beautiful Mtl women. Nice.

Dissappointing huh? No property destruction, no rowdiness, no cop car burning. There were only people in the streets singing, dancing and having fun. Something Leafs fans haven't had the pleasure to experience in decades.

First of all, the Leafs did have such celebrations 6 or 7 years ago, but everything was done in an orderly way & no violence was involved. Leafs fans don't have to get violent & start burning cars & looting shops in order to celebrate. It's too bad we can't say the same thing about Montreal fans & why only in Mtl do they have to fill up the streets with hundreds of cops after such games in order to prevent the mob from destroying downtown Montreal.

Anyways, here's something that will surprise you about the other night:

Huge crowd descends on downtown

Hundreds of euphoric young hockey fans poured into downtown streets Wednesday night seconds after the Canadiens’ thrilling, dramatic and unexpected Game 7 win over the Washington Capitals.

Large groups of ecstatic youths took over the intersection of Ste. Catherine and Peel Sts. chanting “Go Habs Go” and “Ovie Sucks.” (Classy!)

They waved flags, honked horns and leaned out car windows after the nail-biting 2-1 victory that takes the Habs into the second round of the playoffs for a dream matchup with the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.

“We want Crosby,” they chanted.

Montreal police were out in force during and after the game hoping to avoid a repeat of the looting and vandalism that marred the 2008 first round win over the Bruins.

When the match ended, several officers on horseback stayed close to the large crowds on Peel St. to maintain order. Others stood at major downtown intersections from Atwater to St. Laurent Blvd. and a police helicopter flew overhead.

After letting the fans celebrate for close to an hour, dozens of police from the tactical squad, some carrying guns that fire rubber pullets and irritating gas, began clearing the intersection. “We need to move people off the street so traffic can pass,” Lafrenière explained.

But many people stayed put, waiting to see how the crowd would react to the large number of police officers, carrying night sticks and shields. Several people threw beer bottles at the officers, who did not respond, and other troublemakers were spotted throwing rocks at a cellphone store.

A few cars parked on Peel St. were damaged as some members of the crowd began to disperse.

By midnight, the streets were still packed and hundreds of motorists were driving down Ste. Catherine St. honking horns. Police made three arrests. “This shows people can celebrate without being stupid and breaking things,” Lafrenière said. (Of course, it helps that there were hundreds of cops in the area to prevent the city from being vandalized.)

Eric Bégin said he was dismayed to see a few people pouring beer on the cars of passing motorists.

“It was a great game, it’s a great night, but there are always idiots who do this and it can start violence,” he said.

Zach Shahinian looked on in amazement at the huge crowd. “This is Montreal in the spring,” he said. “People are excited because no one gave us a chance.”

(No Zach......it's because they're all a bunch of idiots.)

The only time you get that many cops together in Toronto is when there's a drive by shooting, they call out the army for a moderate snowfall.:p

By the way, the world does revolve around the Leafs. Well, kind of. It's really just a side effect of their hopes of making the playoffs getting flushed down the toilet every spring. The world is spinning!!!

On another note, congrats Doc on your scapegoat Sharks downing Mrs. C's scapegoat dead things 4-3 last night in the opening game of their series. i forgot a long time ago who my scapegoat team was, so lets just say it is the Penguins, (hey if jman can do it mid season, and we all know M cairo has done it all year with his blah blah blah bandwagon talk about the dead things, than i can to with my Pens) look for Sid the Kid and company to put an end to the Scabs misery.... :)

I see you still have that sexual confusion thing going - not surprising, I suppose, for someone who kisses the ground that Holliday walks on.

I also see that you still haven't learned the meaning of the word "scapegoat", although I realize it's unfair of me to pick on you because of your severe intellectual disabilities.

It's amusing that you refer to the Red Wings as "dead things". I guess 4 Cups in the last dozen years, a near-Cup last year, and at worst a final 8 position (and very possibly much better) in this rebuilding year are the reasons you say they are "dead"?

As opposed to your mighty leafs, with their ZERO Cup wins since 67, their ZERO final round appearances since 67, their ZERO major individual awards since 67, their ZERO playoff APPEARANCES even (!!!) in the last half dozen years, their ZERO of a GM, their ZERO of a coach, their two team cancers (the Invisible Man and Mr. Ego - Mr. Ego, that is, with a stinking rotten two goals as a hopeless leaf), and their lauhable 29th place finish)? If THAT is how you define life, I think any sane person would choose death. You and Holliday sure have big mouths for two clowns who bragged at the start of the year about how great your stinking leafs would be.

Wise words, my friendly Bruins fan. All true, of course. The Montreal Canadiens have the worse fans in all sports, including even Philadelphia fans. If it weren't for them, i probably wouldn't hate their damn 'no offense' team so much. But then again, maybe i would. :D

The Montreal Canadiens also have the least knowledgeable fans in professional sports. They sincerely believe that the whole hockey world revolves around them. They really do!

Go Bruins!

Jeez Doc, you've been misusing the word "worse" in this way for several years and hundreds of posts. So your education was a little lacking in the finer points - no big deal. But come on! You QUOTED SK's post, where he correctly used the word "worst" and you STILL got it wrong. Even lggy (!!!!) of all people knows the word is "worst". I think I'm beginning to see why you know so little about hockey and why you get everything wrong.

Worst fans indeed! The Scabs fans would turn around and boo halak if he lets in 3 or 4 goals just as quick as they cheered for him in the last round against the caps, what a disgrace most of the scabs fans are. then again most of them are like our 2 village idiots here,... PURE BANDWAGON! ......:)

Exactly 4 hours and 20 minutes before you posted this tremendously witty message, GHG referred to you and your idol as "village idiots" in one of the other hockey threads. As usual, you can't even come up with an original thought. To give you SOME credit though, you at least used the word "worst" correctly, which is more than your knight in shining armor knows how to do. By the way, which of the leafs is the best golfer? (Or do they all suck, as they do in hockey?)

6 or 7 years ago? Ha ha ha! What were they celebrating - the last time the leafs ever made the playoffs? Or was that the time when Mel Lastman called in the army because a few snowflakes fell in Hogtown? A pussy town, a pussy mayor, but most of all a pussy "hockey" team.

Sorry Doc, but I beg to differ. I believe the most irrelevant poster is your best butty, with you a close second (and in the case of your butty, a VERY close second).

Very well said Techman. The only thing I would add is that in the case of the leafs there is just SO much crap that the FLUSHING starts in September!

Is this what it's come to lg? Your biggest thrill in life (apart from Doc) is watching the Wings lose one game in the second round of the playoffs by one goal? Well, in that case, I guess a rare Wings loss is worth it if it brings some joy to your otherwise miserable existence. Lord knows your stinking leafs will never bring you any joy.

Where is the surprise? You will always have a couple morons in every crowd, be it Montreal, Toronto, New York, Boston or anywhere else. What also does not surprise me is taking the actions of a few and generalizing it on an entire group to TRY to make a point. How typical! Considering the number of people there, the crowd was pretty tame. Good on you Habs' fans, you have learned something over the years .
Oh and you left out a couple of parts in the article like this one "There is a large number of people out, but so far everything is going pretty well,” said Sgt. Ian Lafrenière of the Montreal police.
Btw if you think Toronto sports fans are any better, think again. LOL

Go Bruins!

Of course the Bruins LOVE the leafs. The stupidity of the leafs has given the Bruins a very good goalie, a likely superstar next season, and a great future with other draft picks. Mind you, the Bruins have a strange way of showing their appreciation: they get Rask and several top picks and in return they give the leafs....(drum roll please)...The INVISIBLE MAN! (Not to mention that they have Lucic lay a whupping on the NHL'S official most overrated player, Dion "Mr. Ego" Phaneuf, the guy who was ridden out of Calgary on a rail, the guy who carried TWO teams OUT of the playoffs in a single year, the guy who helped Canada win an Olympic Gold Medal by NOT being selected for the team!) What the Bruins have done to the leafs used to be called GRAND THEFT LARCENY!

Is that who you're cheering for now? the teams seem to change by the month

More like the hour! I've seen Doc cheer for the leafs, the Habs, the Sharks, the Bruins, and the Pens - but mostly the leafs and the Habs.

Sucks missing the playoffs for five straight seasons doesn't it. Just a little bitter, jealous and frustrated aren't we?
