The NEW Toronto Maple Leafs DEATH WATCH THREAD

The pathetic Leafs, as we all know, last made it to the finals in 1967. More to the point, they haven't even made it to the freakin' PLAYOFFS since the 2003- 2004 season! They are the ONLY one of the 30 NHL teams that has FAILED to make it to the post-season at least once since the lockout!

They are also the ONLY one of the Original Six that has not won a Cup since Expansion! (And as stated above, never mind WINNING a Cup: they haven't even made it to the freakin' FINALS since expansion!).

Not only that, but they are getting WORSE. Here are their point totals in the years since they last made it to the finals:

BEFORE BURKE:

2004-2005, season cancelled
2005-2006, 90 points
2006-2007, 91 points
2007-2008, 83 points

SINCE BURKE:

2008-2009, 81 points
2009-2010, 74 points
2010-2011, 85 points
2011-2012, will be decided tonight after their final game against the Habs...but win or lose it will be yet ANOTHER miserable failure of a season under Burke! And as the Koolaid drinkers have proudly been telling us for the last couple of seasons - after all his changes - THIS truly IS Burkie's team! It CANNOT be blamed on whipping boy John Feguson Jr.!

It's always interesting to go back to when Burke was first hired as Toronto g.m. - a time when our two resident Leaf blowhards were probably doing a circle jerk upon hearing the news that the Leafs were getting Burke, but smart hockey fans knew otherwise ...

the idiot Toronto Maple Craps overpay big time and sign someone called Jeff Finger to a 4 year $14M deal! this guy apparently is almost 30, spent most of his career in the minors and only made $475,000 last seaon yet the dumbest organization in hockey shells out $3.5M a year for a third pairing defense man - welcome to Toronto!

This goes to show you how inept and classless an organization Toronto is - Yzerman is a top hockey guy, very knowledgeable about the game and respected around the league.

For a team that has not had so much as a sniff of the Stanley Cup finals in over 42 years, Yzerman would seem to be a good candidate to help rebuild this pathetic franchise, but instead Maple Crap management dis him. Besides, Yzerman is too good for a joke organization like the Maple Turds!

I have to agree with one of Doc"s comments from the past, Komisarek is a BUM. An overpriced one at that.You guys will see for yourself this year. The guy can't shoot,he can't make a pass without using the boards and he can't fight. Good luck with this overpriced bum.

Kommy is not only a top 4 defenceman, but he's also a character player with considerable leadership qualities. Heck, the Habs had him behind the bench as one of the assistant coaches last season when he was injured. This says a lot about the guy. Great move!

Komisarek is one of those guys who has alot of intangibles that make him a very high demand D man......... he's big, has skill, usues his head (smart), doesnt make to many mistakes, is a team Leader....... all that equals a very good D man in todays NHL
