A pretty reliable source is saying it would take Jake Gardiner, Nazem Kadri and the Leafs first round pick to get Nash, no thanks!

PS- Rick Nash in a Leafs uniform next year(my prediction), big changes are coming to the Leaf nation.

I don't know why Nash would even want to come to the Leafs. Heck, even Sidney Crosby would have a hard time scoring in Randy Carlyle's boring "No Offense" system.

Is Carlyle's "No Offense" system aligned with Phil Kessel's "No Defense" system?

The offense will open up more next season as they learn RC's system better, good D creates offense and it will come, but the Leafs are tanking even tho nobody will ever admit it but unless Joe Colborne can step up his game and be that true #1 centre that is so hard to get then they need to draft one and there are 1 or 2 early in the draft so dont expect to win another game this season, my only fear is montreal will do the same, for the same reasons as thats also their biggest need.

The Leafs nation hasn't given up hope yet. While the word is that they are mathematically eliminated the fans are still hoping that this is all a mistake and that the Leafs are even worse at math than they are at hockey;-)

..... unless Joe Colborne can step up his game and be that true #1 centre that is so hard to get then they need to draft one .....

Earlier today, i was reading an old 2008 Hockey News NHL Entry Draft issue (Stamkos was drafted #1) and Joe Colborne was projected to be drafted in the late 20's. In his profile, it said that Colborne comes from an extremely wealthy family, where his father, an oil man, earned over $90 million the previous year alone. The writer added that due to this fact, there was belief among the scouts that Colborne might not have the intensity & desire to make it as a bonafide NHL player since he basically doesn't need money & he's got a future in his ol' man's oil company if his hockey career doesn't work out.

Iggy just OWNED...Special K!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mmm. Lemme see :

Delusional disorder, or paranoid personality disorder should be treated by a psychologist and/or psychiatrist. Antipsychotic medication such as thioridazine (Mellaril), haloperidol (Haldol), chlorpromazine (Thorazine), clozapine (Clozaril), or risperidone (Risperdal) may be prescribed, and cognitive therapy or psychotherapy may be employed to help the patient cope with their paranoia and/or persecutory delusions. Antipsychotic medication, however, is of uncertain benefit to individuals with paranoid personality disorder and may pose long-term risks.

If an underlying condition, such as depression an appropriate course of medication and/or psychosocial therapy is employed to treat the primary disorder.

Yep I think that's what happening to many Leaf's fan nowadays !

Hey Boyz and Leafs drones,

The offense will open up more next season as they learn RC's system better, good D creates offense and it will come, but the Leafs are tanking...dont expect to win another game this season...

Four years ago Burke took over the Leafs promising to bring them to the top contention in the playoffs. Four years later the best strategy anyone can offer to help the Leafs is to tank games and lose even worse to get a top draft pick. Nothing speaks louder of Burke's total failure.

Iggy's already made arrangements to have this put on his tombstone.

You know Rumps, he put "offense" there because no one in Leafs land can spell "defense". If they could, every prediction would be correct since their defense is a gaping open sieve.

I think that the next time I need to hire for my company I am going to strongly discriminate in favor of Leafs' fans.

It's also a pleasure to be in the company of the perpetually optimistic. Now, after four years, they are cheering the prospect of last place to get a higher draft pick.

I know also that they will rarely criticize the boss even out of earshot, no matter how bad things become. The fact that Burke is still regarded by many as deserving of another few years and even as a genius is astonishing to me. Any objective evaluation (e.g. points per season, standings in the conference, making the playoffs) would demonstrate the utter futility of that pugnacious windbag.

Well, "cheering the prospect of last place" is the legacy of Burke's "genius", like Doc pandering to the blueboard.

But Anon you seem to be mistaken about the kind of relationship at work here. Is anyone objective about the one they love...kiss, kiss.

Leaf Nation turns its back on Toronto Maple Leafs

http://www.thestar.com/sports/leafs...on-turns-its-back-on-toronto-maple-leafs?bn=1

Mississauga’s Adrian MacIntosh quit caring on Tuesday, when the Toronto Maple Leafs were bounced from the NHL post season for a seventh straight year.

“I’m embarrassed they didn’t make it to the playoffs again,” says the 15-year-old.

Still, MacIntosh and buddy Adam Holwell of St. John’s, also 15, went to Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers, saucily wearing paper bags with tiny eye holes into the Air Canada Centre.

But even their limited bag-o-vision couldn’t hide the nasty truth. When the Flyers slapped around the home side, 7-1, Leaf Nation surrendered completely.

But is this, truly, a final surrender?

Well, when hockey fans start singing about baseball, maybe the Leafs have been tossed their third strike by disgruntled followers. In a new low, ACC fans began chanting “Let’s go, Blue Jays” in the third period.

Yearning for the Boys of Summer while the Boys of Winter are still punching the clock is tantamount to sporting adultery. Leaf fans, in moving away from head-splitting booing to warbling about baseball, are suggesting the grass might indeed be greener at the domed diamond across the street, a place with different men to love.

“I’m annoyed,” said Toronto’s Klint Ginn, 39, during the Flyers game. Across the back of his authentic Dion Phaneuf jersey, Ginn wrote “new Habs fan” on masking tape.

“I’m a Leaf fan. I’ve got a tattoo here on my arm (his left shoulder) and I’m annoyed. And something has to be better than this, what’s happening.”

There have been many Leaf eras of fan disgust since 1967, Toronto’s last Stanley Cup win. Yet the blue-and-white faithful, like baseball counterparts loyal to the Chicago Cubs and Bambino-cursed Red Sox, have always returned.

Susan Krauss Whitbourne, a professor of psychology at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, says a strong emotional connection between fan and team can sustain some disappointment.

“The true fans are most likely to stick with their team regardless of how the team is doing, because being a fan of the team is part of their identity,” Whitbourne says in an email.

“In a sport like hockey . . . in which players show a high degree of aggression, fans may experience a form of emotional catharsis and the rush of feelings may serve to bond them to the experience of watching the game.”

However, Whitbourne says emotional trauma “can be significant for ‘true fans’ compared to fickle fans” from sustained losing or sub-par effort.

“Even though they’re not losing anything tangible, constant disappointment can be wearing on the true fans.”

Especially when there isn’t the sideshow of a good dust-up.

When Leaf tough guy Mike Brown and Flyers tougher guy Scott Hartnell squared off to fight late in the second period, the officials broke it up before a punch was thrown.

Fans booed lustily. For once, they weren’t mad at the Leafs.

But there is no downside to losing in Leafland. The team doesn’t have to win for Maple Leaf Sport & Entertainment to cash in.

The ACC brims with patrons. There are long lineups for MLSE’s restaurant, Real Sports, just steps from the arena. Leafs attire and goodies are piled in kiosks ringing the concourses.

Fans can watch NHL hockey in luxury, ordering booze and meals from their seats. Is this sedating the former fanatics who are now demanding less from players, less from management, less from ownership?

Amid the fan fury, David MacPherson remains hopeful.

On Thursday, the 40-year-old sales professional brought his son, Graydon, 2, to his first Leafs game — just as MacPherson’s dad took him to his first game at old Maple Leaf Gardens.

“It’s heritage,” MacPherson said, explaining his Leaf love as Graydon caressed a $5.99 puck, a gift from dad. “We keep the faith.”

That's it in a nutshell. The real culprit responsible for Leafs failure isn't Burke as much as it's the fans willing to keep a perennial LOSER profitable and fail to demand quality. And so, fans like Iggy keep making excuses and coming up with phoney backward rationales that keep the final product INFERIOR!!!

sadly,

Merlot

Guys you are in the wrong thread for the Leafs... Try the Official Leafs nation hockey thread :)
You know the one where someone post an article, the other says his opinion, and the first one never missed to say 'you are right !'.
It's the thread where the words 'genius, expert, re-building and draft' is screwing up the google adwords keyword tool service.

Iggy just caused Special K to have a meltdown!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woups ! there it is again !
Indicators of a delusion :
1.The patient expresses an idea or belief with unusual persistence or force.
2.An attempt to contradict the belief is likely to arouse an inappropriately strong emotional reaction, often with irritability and hostility.
3.The patient is emotionally over-invested in the idea and it overwhelms other elements of their psyche.

Meltdown definition :
1.A disastrous collapse or breakdown like the Leafs 2011-2012 season.
2.A rapid or disastrous decline or collapse like the Leafs 2011-2012 season.
3.A breakdown of self- control... mmm I think this one implies the Leafs fan also.

Pot, meet kettle.

(Seems every time one of the Leaf twins posts in this thread, the hole just gets a little deeper. You'd think they'd learn, wouldn't you? And one of them, Doc Holliday, has some brains, so he can't use that as an excuse. Go figure.)
