In the March 31 Coaches Corner Cherry showed footage of the NHL's reigning two time Most overrated Player Dion Phaneuf backing down like the chicken he is when confronted by Wayne Simmonds.

In addition to being the laughingstock of the NHL, the Leafs boast two of the game's biggest cowards: Komi (see Lucic) and Phaneuf (see Simmonds). Not only are these two Leafs defensive liabilties, but they're also gutless - in other words, typical Brian Burke players.

What a beautiful song. Off topic here, but here's the baseball equivalence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xBxZGQ1dJk

Steve Goodman, by the way, died of leukemia at the age of 36 in 1984. His most famous song was "The City of New Orleans."

Every team - even the best - will lose many games in a season but to lose the way that Toronto lost to Buffalo shows that they have no guts, no pride and no character. A typically pathetic performance by the least respected team in professional sports.

Well I'm not sure ! although I like to say it was pathetic... they got robbed of a good goal because of the shot on the post and most of it... both Sulzer's (2nd) and Leopold's goal were funny ones.

The way Sulzer pocked the Goalie's leg to push the puck in was hilarious.
Might as well pushed the Goalie all the way in :D

And Leopold's was one of the funniest goal ever.
It looked like f*kin' Rugby in slow motion !

To see the faces of the Leafs players down on their ass while Sabres looked like a bunch of hungry wolves was f*cking hilarious !
I laughed so hard when finally the Ref decided to blow the whistle as if he had waited, and waited until the puck went in.

It was like "Tiens toe ! C'est la qu'a rentre la puck !"

Another season is finally over for Canada's national embarrassement, the Totonto Maple Leafs. Will they finally get a lottery pick or will they fail like they always do? Stay tuned for the answer tonight. :) GO LEAFS GO!!!

Totonto? Where's that?

By the way, i'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Montreal Canadiens for finishing dead-last in the east conference. This is not an easy feat to accomplish. You have to suck & suck & suck....on a consistent basis.....something habs fans should be very proud of.

Ca sent la Coupe!! 1993....1993.....1993......1993......Oh, so long ago!

The Habs certainly sucked this year. I guess for Habs fans the only consolation is that this year was an exception, whereas for Leaf fans their team's dismal performance is just the usual.

The pathetic Leafs, as we all know, last made it to the finals in 1967. More to the point, they haven't even made it to the freakin' PLAYOFFS since the 2003- 2004 season! They are the ONLY one of the 30 NHL teams that has FAILED to make it to the post-season at least once since the lockout!

They are also the ONLY one of the Original Six that has not won a Cup since Expansion! (And as stated above, never mind WINNING a Cup: they haven't even made it to the freakin' FINALS since expansion!).

Not only that, but they are getting WORSE. Here are their point totals in the years since they last made it to the finals:

BEFORE BURKE:

2004-2005, season cancelled
2005-2006, 90 points
2006-2007, 91 points
2007-2008, 83 points

SINCE BURKE:

2008-2009, 81 points
2009-2010, 74 points
2010-2011, 85 points
2011-2012, will be decided tonight after their final game against the Habs...but win or lose it will be yet ANOTHER miserable failure of a season under Burke! And as the Koolaid drinkers have proudly been telling us for the last couple of seasons - after all his changes - THIS truly IS Burkie's team! It CANNOT be blamed on whipping boy John Feguson Jr.!

Compare the shockingly bad performance of these sad sack gutless Leaf losers to a TRULY great franchise like the Detroit Red Wings under the brilliant leadership of the great Kenny Holland. This magnificent organization has had over 100 points for TWELVE CONSECUTIVE SEASONS, an NHL record and a tribute to the best owner and best GM in all of professional sports. (Of course, the incomparable Detroit organization has also been clever enough to put spellbinding talent on the ice: Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Zetterberg and the others are following in the footsteps of Stevie Y, Sergei Federov, and so many others...all the way back to Howe, Lindsay, Abel, Delvecchio, Sawchuk, and SO MANY others!)

This isn't the Habs suck thread Doc !
Missed your medecine again ?

How did you like tonights game ?
Habs finished the regular season 2 points short of the Leafs with this yet, another win against them.
2 miserable points ? Bwahawawah !

Now for the Leafs to go from top position of the league in November down to 25th ? now that's fuck!n hilarious !

Burke should take lessons from this guy to know how it should be done properly !

Most Embarrassing Season of All!!!

Hello all,

Leafs' season a terrible waste

MONTREAL - The questions don’t have concrete answers, but finding solutions is going to be on the shoulders of Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke in the off-season.

Which was the real Leafs team of 2011-12? The one that had everyone convinced through the first week of February that it finally was a playoff club, one that was on the verge of ending a lack of post-season participation that stretched back to 2004? Or, the one that began to flame out on Feb. 7, with a loss in Winnipeg and then threw itself into one of the biggest collapses in recent NHL history? Or somewhere in between?

“Those are good questions,” defenceman Mike Komisarek said. “I think we showed in parts of the season we are that playoff-calibre team, we struggled with consistency. When we got into a hole, we got behind the eight-ball. We lost a couple of games, we could not dig ourselves out of it, and we did not have a pushback.”

The worst part of everything for Komisarek and his teammates? The past few years they have played their best hockey when they were out of true playoff contention. This season, two months away from the playoffs when all they had to do was keep up the pace that had them in eighth place just after the all-star break, they corkscrewed into the ground.

“This year, it’s tougher to swallow,” Komisarek said. “You work your butt off, spend the summer preparing for the season, and then all this happens.”

The Leafs won just twice in 17 games starting on Feb. 7, and before that skid ended, lost enough games to get Ron Wilson fired on Mar. 2, the night before a match at the Bell Centre against the Montreal Canadiens. They won their first game under Randy Carlyle, but then lost the following five.

continued...

Was it "one of the biggest collapses in recent NHL history?" Unlike the previous 7 seasons the Leafs were in position to be in the playoffs if they showed any sign of the heart for a strong finish that had become customary. But tonight's loss against the 28th ranked team in the league was consistent with a team that had become a quitter with no pride. The difficulties were the same. But this year the Leafs failed to show heart and pride. They quit!

"one of the biggest collapses in recent NHL history?" Indeed!

Too bad the kids all went on to screw up the Baseball threads now but hey ? bwah wah wah !!!

What a season. It exposed a team that had no heart or pride...and fans with no class. Iggy and Doc showed themselves to be the Pink Hats they are by deserting the team...QUITTING...just like their team.

Despite all of Iggy's proclamations of what a real fan is, he jumped the bandwagon and ran away from his...well...it was his team before he dumped them. How does that song go...

I see your true colors...fair weather fan.

Quitter Leafs...Whipped by the Montreal Canadiens 4-1.

...now the Leafs are in for a lottery pick) Again,...

All part of Burke's 5-year plan...to make the playoffs. Happy 25th place Toronto Maple Leafs.

Fitting,

Merlot

I guess for Habs fans the only consolation is that this year was an exception....

Not exactly... There was 5 other consolations :
1-Halak will be in the playoffs which any real Habs fan think he deserved more than the rest of the Habs this year.
2-We got both Gauthier and Gainey out of the way which had to be done.
3-Toronto is staying on course for next year with them' Burke which means it's gonna be another funny year, next year.
4-We even finished the season by kicking their a$$ in the last game of the season.

But to top that off our 5th one is a funny one !
5-To see Leafs ride down to hell from the top to only 2 points ahead of the Habs was really entertaining to say the least !

I mean for all their bragging on how they were so good and how this year was going to be THE one finally and that it really showed just how genius Burke was.... Fu*k ! Leaf's fan must be feeling like sh!t this year !

Thanks Toronto for all the laughs !:lol::lol:

BEFORE BURKE:

2004-2005, season cancelled
2005-2006, 90 points
2006-2007, 91 points
2007-2008, 83 points

SINCE BURKE:

2008-2009, 81 points
2009-2010, 74 points
2010-2011, 85 points
2011-2012, will be decided tonight after their final game against the Habs

And now it HAS been decided. After their humiliating ass-whipping by the 28th place Habs in the final game of the season, the Leafs finish 2011-2012 with a pitiful 80 points.

Thus, their average point total for the four years BEFORE Burke is 88.

Their average point total for the four years WITH Burke is 80.

The Leafs do 8 points WORSE per year with Burke than with John Ferguson Jr....and FERGUSON was fired because he was incompetent! Well it looks like Burkie is 8 points WORSE than incompetent!

Kinda sad: now that the Leafs have finished their season as always (out of the playoffs and right near the bottom of the league standings) there's nothing left to laugh at. But to look at the bright side they'll be back next season for year 5 of the Burke Era, also known as Keystone Kops Revisited.
