Obviously a video library was compiled since one was destroyed. The extent of the library remains unknown as well as its purpose. Doubt that it was simple curiosity.

Suspect that the video library may have been used for evaluations - see how opposing defensive players re-act to defensive audibles, changes at the line of scrimmage and whether the opposition signaled information at the last second to certain key defensive players.

Recording devices in the shoulder pads - have doubts. No immediate benefit but could help decipher audibles later in the game IF the other team is not using a sophisticated audible system but .....................

Week 3: My picks

  1. Baltimore over Arizona (D Baby - D)
  2. SD over Green Bay ( The offense finally puts it together, if they can only not make the opening mistakes that doom them in the New England game, they have the talent!)
  3. Pitt over SF (The Pitt Steelers are real contenders this year!)
  4. NE over Buffalo (Someone said today that Spygate is the worst thing that could have happend to the rest of the league! and it migth be true!)
  5. Indy versus Houston (Houston was the last team to beat Indy last year, this is my upset of the week, I go with Houston!)
The rest:

  • Tampa Bay over Saint Louis (There is no more unidemensional offense than the STL)
  • Detroit over Philadelphia (Mcnabb grow up!)
  • Miami over NJ (cause they just have no means (NJ) to win)
  • Minessotta over Kansas City (KC is a work on progress)
  • Seatle over Cincinatti (becausae it is in Seatle)
  • Clevaland over Oakland (why not!)
  • Denver over Jacksonville (I wish Denver will loose, yet they always find a way to win)
  • Washington over NYG (NYG is in trouble)
  • Carolina over Atlanta (Vickgate really hurt this team)

Hello CJ,

6-8 That's about as well as I do at this stuff. A friend of mine loves Denver. When I looked at their schedule I told him "don't be surprised if they lose 4 in a row". I think they will lose 4 out of the next 5.

I am not sure who I would have picked on many of these games. I follow New England and not a lot else. I think I am getting a better feel for the teams after three weeks. Maybe next week we can compete. But, I would not have picked Houston over Indy. I did call the New England game right to a friend though..."Buffalo will have a hard time getting 10 points without being able to capitalize on turnovers, and the Patriots will go over 30 points again". Yes, not much of a prediction really.

Well, the Patriots were a bit sloppy through the first quarter, and the Bills defense also had some good stops in the beginning. A Brady fumble cost them a score. But once the Patriots got things in sync it was all over. Now that Brady has all of those weapons through the air in Stallworth, Welker, Moss, and Watson, the ground game is also benefitting from the need for the defense to be very careful with the receivers. Even on their own, Morris and Maroney are very solid backs, the type who hit quick, hard and fight for extra every time. Still they the team did not have it together early in the game, showing they still have neough to work on to get better...lol. Is that scarry for the rest of the league. It ought to be.

NOTE: Brady had 24 TDs all of last year. He's got 10 in 3 games this year. OUCH!

As you said: "Spygate is the worst thing that could have happend to the rest of the league!" Of course there were people involved in the episode than Bill Bellichick. That is a given. But to impugn the honor of so many generally honorable players, especially those still there who accomplished so much, will give this team something to prove all year. There are no excuses for what Belichick and the others involved did to cheat. But it was a mistake to attack the entire organization and the motivation it instills on this team can only make it tougher for everyone they face. I am not saying they will win every game or even win next week. But with the kind of talent this team has the opposition DID NOT NEED to face a Patriots team now also motivated for redemption.

Too-da-loo,

Korbel

The Boys rack up 431 yards of offense and whoop the Bears 34-10 in Chicago. At this point they have to be considered the best team in the NFC. The question is, how would they match up against the best AFC teams like the Colts and Pats (sorry Chargers, you're no longer in that group). We might get the answer to that question when the Pats visit the Boys in Dallas on Oct. 14th.

Well I guess that is why I should stay with fanstasy football

  • What I'm happy about: Jacksonville over Denver
  • What surpise me this weeK; Philadelphia, talk about a statement!
  • What shocked me: Philadelphia, please! the uniforms! is like UCLA without the class!
  • What disapoint me: My Chargers! heck what the f#@! is going on, a good team adapts to a new coaching staff, a good coach picks a good team up quickly. As a member of the Charger nation I guess will have to go back to the drawing board and statt the: Lets all second guess Spanos decision game!
My pick tonite: Tenessee over NO ( Vince Young it is all on Vince Young)

Hello CJ,

How about if we both try to predict next week and embarrass ourselves together. Maybe I can even do so badly you will look like a genius.

I did love seeing Denver get beat. They have caused the Patriots so many fits over the years. But I can't understand what happened to the Chargers this year. Is their offense too dependent on LT???. The Patriots have so many weapons and Brady has always spread things so well. Some teams seem to rely on a star ot two and that is never the best way to go through a season.

Looks like you will be right about Tennessee...currently 23-14 with 8:55 left.

Cheers,

Hello JB,

I don't think the Patriots or the Cowboys have faced any real tough competition yet. The Chargers were flat and the Bears have that near imcompetent quarterback. We shall be able to tell a lot more when the Patriots and the "Boys" meet. The Patriots racked up 488 passing and running yards...poor Bills defense yes. Brady is now rated at 141.8...DAAAAMN!

Week 4 My picks

  • Houston over Atlanta
  • New York Jets loose to Buffalo, cause I really do not think the Jets are that good!
  • Baltimore will overcome Cleveland on this hardly disputed game.
  • Dallas over Saint Louis cause Dallas seems to be the class of the NFC
  • Detroit over Chicago cause the quarterback can not be worst than in Chicago
  • Miami over Oakland cause I have to pick one!
  • Green Bay over Minessotta cause Favre seem to be destined to break avery single record a quarterback can accumulated on the NFL.
  • Tampa Bay over Carolina, I like Tampa, what can I say.
  • Seatle over San Francisco, Seatle is just better
  • Pitt over Arizona, Do I need to say why?
  • Indy over Denver, one word: Manning
  • San Diego over Kansas City, if they can not win this one, which one?:(
  • Philly over NYG, if only the offense of Philly, the one that showed up last game, shows up again.
  • New England will loose to Cincinatti, NE has to loose one, and I think it will be better to do it now so that they can get the 16-0 parade over and concentrate on winning it all.
There you go

Hello CJ,

As promised I will give it a try.
  • Houston 16 over Atlanta 26 no problem.
  • New York Jets 14 win as Buffalo 17 works on being dead last in every category.
  • Baltimore 13 over Cleveland 27...defense versus...what defense?
  • Dallas 35 over Saint Louis 7. Dallas continues on a roll.
  • Detroit 37 versus Chicago 27. Pick the Bears if it's Griese, the Lions if it's Grossman.
  • Miami 17 over Oakland 35. By a bottlenose.
  • Green Bay 23 over Minessota 16. This is no boat trip.
  • Tampa 20 over Carolina 7. A near toss up.
  • Seattle 23 over San Francisco 3. The 49ers prove their inferiority.
  • Pitt 14 over Arizona 21.
  • Indy 38 over Denver 20. Denver works up a losing streak.
  • San Diego 16 over Kansas City 30.
  • Philly 3 over NYG 16. The Giants have a better chance against a Philly steak and cheese.
  • New England 34 throttles Cincinnati 13. Despite CJs sour grapes, the Bengals couldn't win this one if all their players were allowed to carry shotguns on the field.

UPDATE: Ish...I'm 5-7 so far. New England should be a gimme. Not so sure about Philly. But I still have a chance to go .500 in my first try. What the hell has happened to San Diego???

batting 500

Well I belive I will be batting 500 by the end of this week, which is not that bad:) .

The good: Dallas and Green Bay seem to be for real

The bad: Pitt taking it from Arizona, what happend there??

The outrageous: The San Diego Chargers! Come on!, this people are suppose to be professionals! And now the blame game has begun, as I said and Keith Oberman confirmed on his sunday contribution (The worst person in the NFL) Spanos now gets to cultivate what he sow.

6-8 I hope.

Hello CJ,

Well, I hope to be 6-8 after tonight when my Patriots beat Cincinnati. That's not too embarassing. But there were a couple of big surprises like Pittsburgh, San Diego, and Cleveland seems to be tougher than I thought. Obviously relying on the stats, as I read them, did not work out too well. I sure don't have a good feel for a lot of teams either. Maybe next week will work out better.

UPDATE: yup...6-8.

Cheers,

NFL = Coaches' League

Korbel said:

GEEEEEEEZ,

Korbel

Korbel and others,

The NFL is a coaches' league. Every play of every game is broken down by assistants across the league so a weakness cannot be hidden forever. Once a weakness is exposed then it is game over if the team cannot make the necessary corrections.

Remember last season prior to the Sunday Night Indy at Denver game where everyone was talking about the fabulous Denver defence. Indy started slow, got rolling at the end of the first half and then blew Denver away. Denver's defence was exposed and a blueprint was given the rest of the league about attacking the Denver defence. Denver has struggled since. Likewise look at the teams that lost in the play-offs last year or the Super Bowl. New Orleans was exposed by the Bears = others were shown how to attack the New Orleans offence,San Diego's loss showed their weaknesses, then Indy in the Super Bowl and S.D. in the opening game this season exposed the Bears weaknesses. Then the Pats exposed S.D. and you saw the results in their next two games. In all instances the teams have not made the adjustments and the problems just snowball.

Let's see what happens to Philly now that the Giants showed the league how to attack the Philly offence.Watch Cincy struggle all year after Cleveland exposed the holes in their pass defence.

Hello CJ,

WRONG! No .500 for you CJ. My boys had a tough time in certain ways against a depleted Bengals team and still won 34-13. Well, they have not really been tested yet, but it's going along just dandy...DO YA THINK...LOL. Brady threw for three more TDs and is the first quarterback ever to be over 75% for the first four games. The Patriots also are the first team ever to win by 20 points or more in all of their first four games. Sammy Morris looks like a human plow. Moss had another 100 yard game with two TDs, and Brady to Moss is already becoming one of the great legendary hookups in football history. Moss for a 4th round draft pick after all the questions and criticisms about him now looks like the greatest steal in all of sports history. Ummmmm booooy...31 years of unrewarded faith has sure paid off since 2001. YEAH...it's GRRRREAT to be a Patriots fan these days.

Toodles y'all,

Week 5 picks

  • Houston over Miami (easy one)
  • Jacksonville over Kansas City (although KC is not as bad as originally announced)
  • Cleveland over NE (still think that the magic will break at some point in time)
  • Carolina over NO (cause NO is to the NFC what San Diego is to the AFC)
  • NYG over NYJ (still think the Jets are not that good)
  • Pitt comes back from the ridiculous defeat of last week and kicks Seattle's butt
  • Saint Louis over Arizona, you get to be lucky only once !
  • Detroit over Washington, I think Detroit is the real deal
  • Tenesse over Atlanta
  • I like Tampa taking on Indy but you can only have one upset per week and I think NE falls this week so Indy will prevail by a nose
  • Denver over San Diego cause it is in Denver where even at its best SD has a difficult time winning and these are certainly not the best of times:(
  • Baltimore over SF, I still like the Raven's no holds bar defense
  • Green Bay over Chicago, one team is clearly on its way up, the other is clearly on its way down unless someone can find a quarterback in Chicago behind a rock or under the J Hancock building
  • Dallas keeps the streak going by defeating the Bills.
There you go.

It is not that am against NE

I have no issue with NE, I think they are a good team, are they the best? I have my doubts but time will tell.

That said I think all teams need to loose at least one game, cause the race to remain unbeaten takes away from the concentration a team needs to make it to the SB.

NE is good, but still has to face some good competition, including Cleveland, I think this is a good team and I think it fits well to NE, I did say it will be an upset yet upsets happend, why not?

Does not make NE crap!

Actually, if I was to change something on my picks will be the result between Tampa and INDY, I feel like upset week on the AFC this week!

Hello CJ,

Correct, New England has not faced a tough team yet. So why do you keep picking against them? C'mon...Buffalo! Are you going to pick them to be upset every week. Yes it can happen anytime. By there is no credibility in wishing it so every time. You have to also recognize the fact that despite the lack of very good competition, New England has not run nearly as perfectly as it seems. There are several key aspects to polish. But considering the point spread results even against lesser competition, if they can do this when they are unpolished...what will they do when they are??? And Oooops...HARRISON. He's baaaaack...LOL!

I disagree that an unbeaten streak is a large burden. If a team takes care of business every game then an unbeaten record is simply the result. Distractions come anyway. Didn't the Patriots face a huge one already, and they still have won every game by at least 21 pionts unpolished or not...hehehe.

Indy has not been dominating since week 1 and I am also a little worried about choosing them. But I will wait for a better team before I pick someone else.

Cheers,

Korbel
