Joe, please change the pick, Pryor is going nowhere, he sucks, and the Giants are going to win this game by more than 8.5 points. Change the pick now while you still can. And never say I don't look out for your wallet dude! I can do more than calm down angry building managers who were never told about a large private party.

Your fired!!!!, just kidding Beav, I am eternal grateful to the Giants for beating the pants off of the Patriots the last two times they met in the Super Bowl, the Giants exposed the overrated Patriots for what they really are, a fraud of an organization who are famous for cheating.

3-1 with my picks makes me a big winner this week, big party in Montreal next week for me, thank you Raiders.

Gents,

Jay Glazer confirms that Jonathan Martin sent Incognito a text message threatening to murder Incognito's family.

Huh,

This is deceptively stated. I listened to the interview twice and read the links. Incognito made a claim to Glazer. There's no confirmation from Glazer there was a murder threat, only confirmation he received the texts and Incognitos word. Funny how the best excuse he could come up with was...he (Martin) said it first.

What I find strange about Incognito is he talks very calmly and politely about comments of racism, killing and raping to someone he claims is his best friend like every else is supposed to say, oh yeah, it's the NFL, it's okay to talk like a vile animal there and call that friendship. You know, in reality there are many guys in the NFL who if told that kind of thing would have put Richie's face through a door without a word said.

3-1 with my picks makes me a big winner this week, big party in Montreal next week for me,

This must be a mistake. As a dedicated Socialist I'm certain you meant to say that money is earmarked for the devastated people of the Philippines. Right Joe?

Cheers,

Merlot,

Stop trolling and do your own research, which I did in 5 minutes less than it took you to write a troll post. Glazer confirmed the texts: http://www.sportwire.us/biggest-takeaways-from-richie-incognitos-interview-with-jay-glazer/

Are you a moron? A journalist is challenged point blank to read text messages in a nationally televised TV interview and you think he would not follow up and do it? Are you really that fucking stupid to think he would not accept that challenge that was made in a nationally televised TV interview, the text of which I posted, and then report the results of that challenge? Or are you just here to troll?

Glazer would be out of a job today if he did not read the text messages and confirm or deny their content, yet a fucking dumbass shit-stirrer like you posts that I have deceived the board? Are you fucking kidding? You are a fucking joke.

"Glazer confirms he's seen the texts in question" That's all it says in the link.

For those who can comprehend English. The statement says only that Glazer has seen the texts. Yesterday I made the same basic post but withdrew it to look for specific details of the text where allegedly Martin made the same specific insults to Incognito. Unlike ESPN which printed the specific content of the texts sent from Incognito showing the gross insults to Martin, the only thing available says Glazer has seen texts incognito claims Martin sent. No details have been provided yet. Anyone who says up to now that Martin said what Incognito claimed is being DECEPTIVE since the texts have not been described or printed.

Deal with it, :D :thumb:

I used to travel to Las Vegas twice a year on business and would take my sales manager with me. She loved the slots and had awful luck. She'd lose $500. Then she'd win back $100 of it and be thrilled that she won $100.

Hearing that comment from Joe made me think of her.

This is a sports thread and it should be understood (as Mod 8 did in the past) that trash-talking/locker toom talk is more prevalent in such threads as it is in real life. I'm ashamed of some of the thngs i've told opposing players when i played hockey, and the same when i played baseball and basketball. Trash-talking and sports go hand-in-hand.

Therefore, i think the moderator (as was the custom in the past) should be more lenient when it comes to imposing discipline in sports threads and understand that a lot of the trash-talking comes with the territory within the wide world of sports. It's part of the game.

It is my belief that suspending Eagerbeaver for simply asking Merlot (during an exchange between the two) if he's a moron is way out of bounds considering the circumstances i've already mentionned. I don't even think he warranted a suspension. This is a sports thread, after all. It is my opinion that the sports theads might as well totally be banned if a prominent member such as Eagerbeaver is suspended simply for asking a member (with a long history of being a troublemaker) if he's a moron. This is ridicujous and makes all of us wonder if the offended member in question isn't in cahoots with the moderator(s).

Just stating my opinion.

the only problem that i can see is that you don't seem to realize that this is a sports thread. A sports thread! A sports thread, which 95% of the other members do not care about.

Doc,

You're full of CRAP. You know exactly what he was doing and it's the same filthy trash manners he has used before outside the sports thread. Am I supposed to ask, am I free to ask by your standards if you are a moron for not getting it? When any member responds like a beast anywhere that member has gone way too far. FACT...DEAL WITH IT!

According to Mod8, no one is supposed to be personally insulting even in the free-for-all threads.

Speaking of disturbers and trash talkers, now you suggest the moderators who have suspended me in the sports threads are in "cahoots" with me? Talk about freaking childish ridiculous trash.

BTW: I kept my temper and responded to him acting like trash the way the mods asked/require us all to do, civilly. I would have loved to make a retort in kind, but I handled the issue by the rules. That's the difference.

JUST STATING MY OPINION!

What you do not seem to realize or understand is that MERB rules in regards to RESPECTING OTHER MEMBERS apply to ALL sections of the board. You also fail to realize that this is NOT a FREE FOR ALL thread where such rules are slackened.

If you are not happy with the moderation, you are free to leave and post elsewhere. If you continue to criticize the moderators' decisions, that choice will be taken out of your hands.

I'll state my opinion as well. I don't know the Beav's rationale, but I think he was asking to be banned. He's done and said a lot of obnoxious and arrogant things over the years, but he's never gone off the rails like he did earning both this and the last ban.

prominent member such as Eagerbeaver.
How do you define prominent? If it's defined by writing reviews, then the Beav is hardly prominent. On top of that, the rules, as the mods will attest, apply to all equally.

Martin walked into twisted world
He confronted an unrelenting, prison yard mentality in the Miami locker room

Culture Corrupt In Miami
Jason Whitlock joins Olbermann to discuss the Miami Dolphins' culture and what it says about society.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9941696/jonathan-martin-walked-twisted-world-led-incognito

Mass incarceration has turned segments of Black America so upside down that a tatted-up, N-word-tossing white goon is more respected and accepted than a soft-spoken, highly intelligent black Stanford graduate.

According to a story in the Miami Herald, black Dolphins players granted Richie Incognito "honorary" status as a black man while feeling little connection to Jonathan Martin.

Welcome to Incarceration Nation, where the mindset of the Miami Dolphins' locker room mirrors the mentality of a maximum-security prison yard and where a wide swath of America believes the nonviolent intellectual needs to adopt the tactics of the barbarian.

I don't blame Jonathan Martin for walking away from the Dolphins and checking himself into a hospital seeking treatment for emotional distress. The cesspool of insanity that apparently is the Miami locker room would test the mental stability of any sane man. Martin, the offspring of Harvard grads, a 24-year-old trained at some of America's finest academic institutions, is a first-time offender callously thrown into an Attica prison cell with Incognito and Aaron Hernandez's BFF Mike Pouncey. Dolphins warden Jeff Ireland and deputy warden Joe Philbin put zero sophisticated thought into what they were doing when they drafted Martin in the second round in 2012.

continued...

"Richie is honorary," a black former Dolphins player told Miami Herald reporter Armando Salguero. "I don't expect you to understand because you're not black. But being a black guy, being a brother is more than just about skin color. It's about how you carry yourself. How you play. Where you come from. What you've experienced. A lot of things."

I'm black. And I totally understand the genesis of this particular brand of stupidity and self-hatred. Mass Incarceration, its bastard child, Hurricane Illegitimacy, and their marketing firm, commercial hip-hop music, have created a culture that perpetrates the idea that authentic blackness is criminal, savage, uneducated and irresponsible. The tenets of white supremacy and bigotry have been injected into popular youth culture. The blackest things a black man can do are loudly spew the N-word publicly and react violently to the slightest sign of disrespect or disagreement.

continued...

Yeah, the Dolphins are circling the wagons around Incognito. I get Ryan Tannehill's defense of his Pro Bowl left guard. He needs him. He doesn't believe the Dolphins can protect him or win games without Incognito. There's a popular belief you can't consistently win football games without a few "thugs" like Incognito in your locker room. Makes you wonder how Stanford competes with USC, Oregon, UCLA, etc., every year. You wonder how Nebraska and Oregon survived after booting Incognito. You wonder why three NFL teams let him go. Maybe he's not as essential as the myth-makers would have you believe.

But what makes me want to check into a mental hospital is Miami's black players' unconditional love of Incognito and indifference to Martin.

It points to our fundamental lack of knowledge of our own history in this country. We think the fake tough guy, the ex-con turned rhetoric spewer was more courageous than the educated pacifist who won our liberation standing in the streets, absorbing repeated ass-whippings, jail and a white assassin's bullet. We fell for the okeydoke.

We think Malcolm X was blacker than Martin Luther King Jr.

I'm as guilty as anybody. I've read X's autobiography a half-dozen times. I own Spike Lee's movie about X and watch it a couple of times a year. I love Malcolm X. But I'm not an idiot. MLK liberated me. MLK blazed the proper path to respect, progress and achievement. Barack Obama stands on MLK's shoulders. And so does Jonathan Martin.

Richie Incognito is an "honorary" bigot, standing on the shoulders of Gov. George Wallace. The fact that a group of young black men in the Dolphins' locker room can't see that speaks to the level of ignorance unleashed by Mass Incarceration, Hurricane Illegitimacy and commercial hip-hop.

Too many young people have grown up. There's a difference between growing up and being raised. When you grow up, you're left to figure things out on your own. That's why we have a generation of young people who can't recognize the self-hatred and damage of describing yourself as the N-word. They don't know what they haven't been taught. Video games, iPads and headphones can't raise a child. But those technological advances can entertain and empower popular culture to corrupt.

I don't know Jonathan Martin. He's biracial. He was apparently smart enough to qualify for entry into Harvard. He's huge and athletic. He strikes me as someone ripe to struggle with his identity.

The Dolphins tagged him the "Big Weirdo." The Dolphins held up Richie Incognito as the ultimate role model for offensive linemen. Incognito was a Pro Bowler. He was a member of the six-man leadership council. It makes perfect sense for a kid like Martin to befriend Incognito and try to fit in. I'm sure they were best friends, for a time. I'm sure Incognito offered Martin physical protection on the football field. It's standard operating procedure for a prison-yard bully to cultivate a relationship that is equal parts fear, love and disrespect. It's how you turn a guy out and make him grab your belt loop.

Martin was confused. He probably thought the bullying and hazing would pass after his rookie season. He wanted to fit in and make it in the NFL. The paycheck is incredible. He tried to laugh off the abuse and disrespect. He participated in it. He coughed up $15,000 for a trip to Las Vegas he didn't want to take.

Finally he snapped. He wasn't raised to be a full-blown idiot. He was raised to think and solve problems with his mind. He was savvy enough to figure out a physical confrontation with Incognito was a no-win situation. It wouldn't curb Incognito's behavior or change the culture inside the Miami locker room. It would confirm it. In order to win the fight, Martin would have to physically harm Incognito. It would not be a one-punch or two-punch fight.

Martin walked. If the entry fee to being an NFL offensive lineman is adopting the mindset of Incognito and Pouncey, Martin wisely chose not to pay it. He has a developed brain and a supportive family unit. He's not desperate. He has options. People with limited options and no family support may not understand or respect his decision. That's on them and illustrates the vast impact of Mass Incarceration and Hurricane Illegitimacy.

Beautifully conceived and written.

Even if no sides are taken as to who is to blame there's a basic fact Incognito and management point to. Incognito was charged with helping make Martin a better player for the benefit of the team. The results show his methods failed utterly, and the Dolphins team is suffering for it.

No mistake, this money is earmarked for a beautiful SP to wrap her beautiful lips around my big cock(at least that's what they keep telling me, not that it matters but still, I'm flattered LOL) this weekend, the devastated people of Philippines are beyond repair no matter how much I would give, I prefer to give by donating to medical care and research for children which I have done in the past, a much more worthwhile and satisfying cause.

I hope this thought does not get past the considering stage, if you want to be associated with a dirty, cheating, dishonest organization that has been well documented over the years be my guest, my advise is to stick with the Dolphins.

Joe,
It’s gotten past the “considering stage”. Being a loyal Dolphins Fan since 2 years before I sat on the 30 yard line and watched the entire 17-0 Season, they’ve not given fans much to cheer about. Few people understand that it's all about management. Simply the owner, nor the general manager, are not up to it. So until we have a new owner and manager I'm shopping for a new team to cheer on. My current canidates are the Patriots and the Bears. I'm leaning towards the Bears (really enjoyed their game last weekend). This is my first change in 42 years so I'm taking suggestions.......

As for the pulse of the locker room, is management supposed to monitor the private communications of every player?

This is exactly what I’ve said all along, “It’s a management issue”.

AV,

I agree with you on executive management, and the rest of your post I also agree with. There would be no reason for the head coach to go to management with these issues, it would only show he can't control his own locker-room. So he identifies the problem and then he deals with it, and that is what Edwards said he did, and so did Mike Ditka, from what they have reported on ESPN.

Duh, it keeps coming back to management. Joe Robbie & Danny Thomas first founded the Dolphins in like 1965. Joe bought Danny out and he was a great Owner.

Martin walked into twisted world

There’s that “management theme” again.

M,

You have a great point about the “entry fee”. I played football in high school as a defensive end/Linebacker. I was the “Matheson” in my school’s “53 Defense”. The few times that I was really good was when I became enraged. As a Junior it became clear that either I toughened up and developed a killer attitude, or I should just quit. Obviously I did the later.

P.S. This was back in the days when you could still play both ways...LOL. So I played Offensive Guard and Kickoff Squad. You got it, I was on the field a great deal of the game. That Florida Summertime Conditioning really helped..LOL

No offense, but let's just say that if you'd totally disappear from the boards, almost no one would notice. I'm simply stating fact & i'd add that there's nothing wrong with not being a prominent member no one cares for. As for EB, he's been one of the most prominent members on the boards for over a decade and also one of the most interesting. He's a little sex machine who has great taste in women. He usually speaks the truth & speaks his mind. He's not a bullshitter, and tells it like it is. He can be controversial, but he's never boring. This board needs more people like the beave in order to be an interesting board.

So basically, that's why Eagerbeaver is prominent. His absence would be missed, while a non-prominent person's absence would be barely noticeable.
