Ok doc, are you done or have I to help you out with that?

This is a sport thread, remember?

No need to reply..it wasn't a question; if you don't want to talk about sport, get out of this thread.

No offense, but let's just say that if you'd totally disappear from the boards, almost no one would notice

Doc- that's what the Ignore button is for

Oh Rumples- I am still waiting for the ban that you told me I would be receiving a couple days ago ?
Did you work that out with your fanclub ?

Sports related- Just a couple months away, and I see no significant work in the area of Metlife Stadium regarding the Superbowl.

I can tell you that if you do go, your car will be stopped at least 1 mile away, and you will be asked to produce tickets

Sorta like when the Stones played at the Capitol theater in Passaic

Actually, Doc, my reviews generate a lot of PMs. Now here's a challenge for you: find and link to ONE review the Beav has written. Yes, he posts a ton of bullshit about The Golden Age of Hobbying, and waxes eloquently (lol) about the HDH girls he met in 2004, but show me one useful review he's written in the last five years. Happy searching.

(OK, I will admit that among the many people I know in this city, he is a regular source of amusement.)

(Smuler - I don't make the decisions around here. All I can do is click the report button. They did at least delete your bullshit accusation.)

Boyz,

Richie Incognito ignited very public row in Miami and crossed the line
The critics have gathered in the Miami Dolphins controversy to insist it can never be acceptable to use a racial slur in the locker room – the NFL cannot afford to take this case lightly

Excerpts:

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2013/nov/16/miami-dolphins-incognito-racial-slur

One damning piece of evidence had already come to light. On 4 November, ESPN published the transcript of a voicemail message that had been left for Martin by his team-mate Richie Incognito. In it, the nine-year veteran threatened to defecate in his younger colleague's mouth, as well as to "slap your real mother across the face". Incognito signed off with a warning that, "you're still a rookie. I'll kill you".

Laced with laughter and expletives, those comments alone might have been enough to cause a stir. But for many Americans, the most shocking phrase uttered by Incognito came at the beginning of the message, when he casually referred to Martin as a "half-nigger piece of shit". Incognito is white, while Martin is mixed-race.

...

None of Incognito's team-mates would condemn him over his use of a racial slur. According to the Miami Herald, one unnamed player even described him as an "honorary" black man, saying: "Being a brother is more than just about skin colour. It's about how you carry yourself. How you play. Where you come from. What you've experienced. A lot of things."

This, too, was an incendiary comment. The former Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe led a chorus of ex-pros in angrily rejecting the suggestion that it could ever be acceptable to use a racial slur in a team's locker room. The notion that there could ever be such a thing as an honorary skin tone was likewise roundly dismissed.

Incognito finally gave his own side of the story in an interview aired by Fox Sports. "I'm not a racist," he said. "To judge me by that one word is wrong. In no way, shape or form is it acceptable for me to use that word, even if it's friend to friend. It's thrown around a lot. It's a word I've heard [Martin] use a lot – not saying it's right for when I did it in the voicemail, but there are a lot of colourful words thrown around in the locker room that we don't use in everyday life."

...

But Martin's case has highlighted the ways such behaviour might be taken too far. When news of his departure broke, allegations were made of senior players obliging rookies to pick up the tab for dinners costing as much as $30,000.

The veracity of such claims is yet to be established, but certainly they make uncomfortable reading for league officials. The NFL cannot be seen to support its players extorting money from one another, just as it cannot condone the casual use of racial slurs.

Most of all, the NFL cannot afford to take this matter lightly. On Wednesday, ESPN aired the news that participation numbers for Pop Warner, the nation's largest youth American football organisation, had fallen by a shocking 9.5% between 2010 and 2012. Amid growing concern about the long-term implications of head injuries, the fear is that many parents are now choosing to steer their kids towards alternative pursuits.

My Picks:

http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/?s=467

Detroit -3 over Pittsburgh

Philadelphia -4 over Washington

San Diego -2.5 over Miami

Green Bay +4.5 over the Giants...my special sympathy pick.

New England + 1.5 over Carolina

Charles Barley & Shaq came out on TNT with the following discussion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5teRxMqaPQ

With all due respect to the gentlemen, I've got to disagree. Sorry but the basic fact is that if you don't exhibit enough respect for each other, how can you expect others to show respect. There claim that they have "level 14" clearance to say this between friends is a lot of "horses__t". Their claim that it's "Ebonics" simply doesn't allow our culture to interact and judge interaction with any defineable parameters. I.E. the Ebonics excuse is just that a BS excuse for sloppy and bad behavior.

As a Jewish Minority I can think of only one person I've ever labled a "k_k_" in my mind (never in public). I have too much respect for my race and its accomplishments. Simply if African-Americans wish shed what they term as bigotry and bias of the a race, they must exhibit respect of one another without the endless definitions of who can say the N-word and who can't. Shaq & Barkley's pronoucements are nothing but racist in that they challenge the "white press" as to how they interact and address one another. It's my submission that this type of institutionalized self-deprication and "ebonics" does nothing but promote its use in less desireable ways. Black athletes as "roll-models" should and must discourage this type of interaction if they're to move beyond what they view as an intollerant society. In short if you don't promote respect for each other how can you expect others to respect you.

On a more personal note I've been trying to find a new team, but I keep going back to the Dolphins (even with all their issuses). I guess you can't walk away from 40+ years. But Doc & M, you guys really called a very close game.

Congratulations to Clete Blakeman's crew for calling a fantastic, fair game, not one blown call that I could see and not letting that whiny, spoiled, immature, brat Tom Brady have his way, I'm hearing he will be fined for his expletive, laden, tirade against the officials that was caught on air while walking off the field at the end of the game, sore losing at it's best.

NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said today Clete Blakeman's crew made the right call.:thumb:

I would have hoped that you would be inspired by the thousands of posts you see on merb to improve your reading skills. Blandino only said that the "proper mechanics were followed" in the officials' discussion. He uses various weasel words. for example, emphasizing that the officials don't have instant replay, are seeing it at "full speed" etc. to evade answering if he agrees with the call.

As the article states at the end, Gronkowski was held for three seconds before the ball was intercepted. If you don't want to call it pass interference, it certainly was holding. Not a football player in the world could have caught a beach-ball being held as tightly as the Patriots receiver was.

The line went up in Carolina's favor just before the game. I may join the few, who I used to regard as crackpots, in wondering if American football is corrupt. (as soccer was proved to have been in recent years).

Hello,

This is why Joe.t has the worst reputation for total lack of honesty and integrity among sports posters. It's the unabashed way he flaunts partisanship regardless of the facts, along with his epic picks failures that define him.

Theoharis: “We know that the league evaluates officials on a weekly basis. When you evaluate this particular crew this week, will they receive a poor grade, something you call being downgraded for this play?”

Blandino: “For this play, no. When we look at tight judgment calls like this and we feel that the officials followed proper mechanics, we do not downgrade the officials for this type of situation.”

Blandino makes it very obvious he's looking for a way out of a bad call. The fact that the officials threw the flag at all points to the original perception at full speed that there was due cause. If the ball was uncatchable it was because Gronkowski was mugged tightly enough that even a huge TE like him could not get free to attempt it. That's holding in any book as long as the ball was sent in his direction.

The truth is Blandino is stuck with the kind of decision no professional sports organization to my knowledge has ever had the guts to change. How does any professional sports organization admit a grievous error that would put them in the impossible position of stepping in after the conclusion and altering the outcome. Wouldn't the fans then be waiting after every game for one last hope from the NFL office. It would be intolerable for him to create a situation of deferment every game and therefor Blandino has no choice but to weasel out of the gross mistake every honest person sees that he cannot just simply deny. It's about profits.

As for Joe, had this happened to the Raiders he could bath in the torrent of his whiney tears. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Oh wait, he's been doing that since the TUCK RULE episode. He hasn't got the balls to be honest. GUARANTEED!!! :thumb:

Cheers,

Merlot

It was a judgement call, meaning that whatever the officials called would have been the right call, the flag was picked up because the refs ruled that it was an uncatchable ball, Brady admitted that it was a poorly thrown ball, if Brady throws the ball high and closer to Gronkowski it would have been justifiably called pass interference, no way Gronk catches that poorly thrown ball by Brady even if there was no interference so the right call was made, Patroits and their fans are the biggest whiners on the planet, remember the famous penalty call that gave the Jets another field goal try that won the game against the complainers(Patriots and their fans), sore looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosers.

...whatever the officials called would have been the right call, the flag was picked up because the refs ruled that it was an uncatchable ball...

Uh huh,

Was it uncatchable? Looking at the video at 45 seconds Gronkowski is in line with the flight of the pass with the defender in front of him. As Gronk tries to adjust he's pushed and then grabbed as the ball arrives. The only pertinent question is could Gronk have adjusted enough if he hadn't been illegally prevented from doing so before the ball arrived. The ball was caught right where Gronk started to adjust. The flag should have been left for the opposing coach to protest, which would have led to a full video review for a definitive answer. Since you say "whatever the officials called would have been the right call", indicating how close the call was, it would have been just as right to look at the replay video instead of discussing it where two refs obviously disagreed, else there wouldn't have been a flag.

As for whiners, you've been whining about the Patriots and fans with hateful vitriol since the Tuck Play game. You didn't like the refs choice then...right pal. Which hurts more Joe? The Tuck Rule call, or the Raiders failure the next year by getting wiped out in the next Super Bowl?

Again, if that was a Raider and not a Patriot...you'd be furious.

memories, ; )

My winning picks for this week.

San Diego +5.5 over KC.
Tennessee -1 over Oakland.
Giatns -2.5 over Dallas(my gift to EB).

My sure shot pick of the week which I nailed two weeks in a row is Denver to easily cover the -2.5 over that overrated team in New England with their miserable, whining fans, I'm kind of wishing that the Patriots win this game just so we(good fans) don't have to put up with all that whining crap that follows this team after every loss, NAAAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGTTTTT, I'm expecting Manning to put on a show for the ages and will tear the Patriots apart limb by limb with a minimum of at least 5 TD's(My predictions), go Broncos!!!.

Bonus pick - Saskatchewan -6.5 over Hamilton to win the Grey Cup, this province needs something to celebrate, anybody who has been to Saskatchewan knows what I'm talking about.
