Bargain Bin strikes again!!

Marc Bergevin just acquired Dwight King from the Los Angeles Kings for a 4th-rounder. Dwight who?? Exactly. ;)

Other than Jarome Iginla joining the LA Kings, not much else has been going on on NHL trade deadline day.

The biggest announcement so far has been that Jay Onrait & Dan O'Tool are heading back to Canada and re-joining TSN. Sports fans across America are in shock while those in Canada are celebrating! :cheer2:

Bargain Bin strikes again and again!!!

In his final trade of the day, Marc 'Bargain Bin' Bergevin traded Sven Andrigetto to Colorado for some stiff named Martinson. I forgot his first name. Coming into trade deadline day, the habs needed a #1 center and speed on the wings. All he got was slow wingers, a top 6 or 7 defenceman and got rid of speed and skill in Andrigetto. No Matt Duchesne, no #1 center.

Toronto makes a late trade

Depth centre Eric Fehr, who has one year at $2 million remaining on his contract, is traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defence prospect Frank Corrado.

Toronto also receives defenceman Steven Oleksy and a 2017 fourth-round pick in the deal.

For those wondering, no, Marc 'Bargain Bin' Bergevin is NOT the Maple Leafs GM.

In other news, Ottawa traded former 1st-round pick Curtis Lazar to Calgary for a 2nd round pick. They also picked up Viktor Stalberg. Marc Streit went from Philly to Tampa to Pittsburgh today. TB sent Valterri Fillpula to Philly in that trade. Surprising that Radim Verbata remains in Arizona along with Shane Doan. And Drew Stafford is now with the Boston Bruins, Tomas Vanek with Florida. and Kyle Quincey with Columbus.

By the way, i watched lowlights of last night's Columbus/habs game and Tortorella is correct in being incensed with the ref calling a cheap penalty on Seth Jones in overtime, which led to Mtl scoring in overtime. It wouldn't surprise me if the ref was Dean Morton, the same idiot who called a non-penalty shot against the Leafs back in Brooklyn a couple of weeks ago. He must be schizophrenic.

Thanks for the updates Doc. Btw, did you really expect Bergevin to do anything of substance?

I am happy Corrado is gone. I love the managemt group the Leafs have but the way they treated that kid was just plain wrong. It was obvious Babcock never wanted him but Lou did and Babs finally won out over old Lou. Wonder if there is any hard feelings by Lou Lam towards Babs? Oh well, everyone knows Babcock is the real man in charge of the Leafs and that is a good thing.

GO LEAFS GO!

A good friend of mine who happens to be a habs fan just called me and said: "What the fuck are the habs doing??? I went to see a Marlies/Ice Caps game recently and the habs have nothing on the farm!!! Do the fans realize how bleak things will be in 2-3 years???? Do they know that they're stuck with Shea Webber's monster contract for another 10 years? Do they know his cap number will be nearly $7.9 million throughout the lenght of his contract??? What the fuck!!!!"

I replied that re-signing Carey Price may wind up costing them $10 million/season so there's no guarantee he'll be there then. And then Pacioretty's contract will be up a year later and he'll also be asking for a huge raise. And then i realized that my friend had just hung up on me before could inform him that Tomas Plekanec still has a year left to go with a cap hit of $6 million.

GO LEAFS GO!

I am down in Mexico right now, 4th time this year :)

Ok I am trying to follow all trades but I cant' seem to find a single trade of real importance this year, I am wrong?

The only thing I can mention is that Habs got bigger, which is good, better? Not too sure but sometime bigger is better. Oiliers got better with Desharnais as he could be a real good player on the 3 line. Giving that line to score some goals. Mark Streit to pitsburgh is wise indeed, for this year only.

So really is it that I have missed it all drinking too many mohito under mexico sun or I really miss something?

Cheers,

Haha Gaby no I am all alone with my kids down in Mexico showing them the beauty of the beaches and reality of the population here. Quite a shock really.

But anyhow Detour is on the way to make something quite special with Igna, which I am quite jealous of. But hey, no one wants to hear how it went more than me!! Because I like these guys.

Cheers,

My buddy just gave me a call. He told me he's off to the Marlies/Ice Caps game which starts at 6pm. He told me that it's been broadcasted on TSN2, so i may keep an eye on that game. He added that the only reason he decided to attend his first AHL game is to see for himself if, like Georges Laracque said a week or so ago, the Ice Caps are as bad as he says they are. They're supposedly absolutely awful and not a single player on that team has a chance to be a habs regular one day. My buddy, although a big habs fan, predicted the Marlies would destroy the Ice Caps. We'll see.

Look behind you.
The GEO's newly acquired Hab got a point :clap2:. The Flames were really impressive in Feb and should be in the playoffs, I can see 4 Canadian teams in the playoffs this year, far better than the zero we had last year.

My buddy just got called me to tell me he went to the Marlies/Ice Caps game again today and his first words were: "What the hell is Charles Hudon doing in the AHL??? The habs need scorers and this kid is amazing!!!"

I replied that habs fans are wondering the same thing.

My GEO are fading fast, now in the wild card group. Hats off to Calgary for winning their last 10 games, never thought they would beat Pittsburg last night, the game was excellent.

Emelin was absolutely terrible last night!!!!

I wonder how long Claude Julien will keep putting him in the lineup.

My guess is that Nate "The Great" Beaulieu will be back in the lineup for their next game after being benched by Julien.

Look behind you.
Possibilities of 5 Canadian teams if the leafs keep it up, still not a fan of the playoff format, prefer the conference format.
